This is a beautifully stitched and well made case/holster, well worth the price. However if you own a Shadow as stated in the title, or even the thicker Fuze, it will be swimming inside. Though I highly doubt it would ever fall out, so much extra space is not confidence building when trying to protect your equipment.

I think this is my second review on amazon because i never do them but for this one I need to warn people of this crap. I got the Fender edition and since I bought it I had problems with it. First it was because i couldn't use the camera because it didn't read the micro SD. Chatted with a T-Mobile rep and told me to restore the whole phone, I did and it worked for just 2 weeks, also this happened the very first day I bought it! Because I got tired of restoring the phone every time it stopped taking pics, I had to take the sd out and put it in so it would work.
But What really completely killed it was this January when finally I got the message saying that I can update to Froyo, I did and was the worst decision ever. It freezes, it doesn't load sometimes, it takes an hour to download a 200+kb app, it shuts down randomly, it over heats, the battery only last 3-4 hours without me using it at all, typing takes forever since it freezes every time you click on a letter and the only thing that can actually works fine is a solitaire app that I downloaded. I even tried to restored the phone but it's still the same and i know other people that got the same problem with their normal mytouch, so it's not because it's the Fender edition.
Positive things- well the fender edition is pretty, from the home charger to the earphones (which are uncomfortable as heck) and it had some music apps and like 50 free songs in the memory but because I restored the phone the very fist day I got it, I never heard any of the songs.
If you buy it, just don't do the froyo update if it doesn't have it already. But really, don't waste your money on this, it's obsolete by now (and it was obsolete when I bought it cuz a month later the mytouch slider came out and like 3 months after the 4g one) For less than $200 you can get a LG G2x that is way advance than this. That's what I did, my G2x is arriving at my home on Monday :D

This phone combine above average promise with above average frustration. It's great because it does a lot of what my laptop used to do. Its ability to synchronize Google contacts, e-mail, and calendar are a lifesaver when traveling. This specifications are impressive: GPS, WiFi, bluetooth, internal compass, ambient light sensor, and autofocus-capable camera/video. When I first got it, it ran Android 1.5, an old version with many annoying problems, such as an unusable YouTube app, and battery-wasting default settings. Adjusting the default settings helped with battery life, and after a long wait, the Android 2.1 update arrived, which made some things better (e.g. YouTube) but other things worse. Most glaringly, the phone became noticeably slower just after the update. It was never zippy to begin with, but is now downright irritating, even with a task killer that I use constantly.
This phone reminds me of my first experience years ago with Windows 95. Then, as now, that was the product to compete with Apple, but it had a lot of rough edges, just like Android does at the moment.
Here are my detailed observations, starting first with the good things:
1. If you use gmail and Google calendar, Android will synchronize your life. If you add contacts on your phone, they show up on your gmail account within a few seconds, and vice versa. If you add calender items online, they show up on the phone, and vice versa. It just works. All phones should be this easy.
2. The GPS is downright amazing, much better than my older HTC phone. It finds satellites quickly, even indoors when I'm not particularly close to a window.
3. The ambient light sensor automatically adjusts screen brightness, like the iphone. It works well most of the time.
4. The Android Market, while still lagging behind the iPhone app store, is catching up fast. OK, now for the frustrating parts.
1. It's slow. Under Android 1.5, simple things like typing sometimes had noticeable delays. After updating to the latest version 2.1, the phone has gotten slower still. Without task killers, I would have thrown the phone against a wall by now. The camera application seems to particularly bog the phone down, so I kill it whenever I'm not using it.
2. Typing. This phone has one of the increasingly common "capacitive" touchscreens (like the iphone). If you're already used to this, you know what you're in for. But if you're used to the older "stylus" type screens, get ready for several days of fat fingers. The screen responds only to the fleshy pad of the finger, not a stylus or fingernail. Your fingers will feel like giant marshmallows on the tiny on-screen keyboard. It was much slower than the stylus on my old phone.
3. Settings are often hard to find, and buried deep within menus. For example, to turn off dialpad tones, you have to exit out of the phone application, then go to "Settings", then "Sound and Display", then scroll to "Dialer Keypad Tone". It took days to figure this out, and the setting really ought to be placed in the phone app itself.
4. Battery life is middling with default factory settings. It gets better if you turn off "always-on" in the wireless settings, but then the phone no longer downloads mail in the background, and you'll have to sync manually. These things aren't obvious - you have to figure them out by reading forums and seeing what other people have tried.
5. Slightly arrogant user community. A lot of Android early-adopters are techies. While setting up my phone, one "helpful" comment I got from another Android user went along the lines of telling me to reprogram the operating system, and that " ... if you don't want to flash your own custom roms, then get an iphone". OK, aside from voiding my warranty, what did I just pay hundreds of $$$ for? If Google and Sprint's highly paid engineers couldn't make things work, why should I have to?In summary, Android currently feels like a work in progress, and the processor on this phone is already outdated. After lots of fiddles and tweaks, and reading lots of forums, this phone became very useful, but still frustratingly slow.

HTC Droid Eris Black Workout Band + Wisdom * Courage Wristband Review

HTC Droid Eris Black Workout Band + Wisdom * Courage Wristband
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Other than a couple small gripes it works well and I've enjoyed using it (music played over the speakers at my gym really sucks). So, I'll elaborate on the problems:
First, the plastic d-loop is not stitched to one side, so it will shift around. When it moves out of position it can be uncomfortable. I'm actually thinking that I might try drilling 2 small holes at either end and then stitch something through them... maybe I'll submit a picture and edit this review, if I do.
Second, the material could stand to be more elastic. More likely than not, this will be placed in a spot where there is going to a great deal of muscle contraction. For some workouts I'll take it off, because it becomes too restricting.
Third, it would be nice if it came with a small clip, to clip your audio cord to your shirt. If they addressed these small things it would be an excellent product and is, as it stands, a good product.

Nice job Otterbox, finally, a great case for the Mytouch 4g.
This is a snazzy two-piece design which complements the phone's natural appearance rather well; the first layer of thin rubber hugs the whole phone while the hard shell snaps over it, leaving all the cutouts and buttons protected and still exposed to the user, the case looks great and doesn't pack on too much bulge. It handles just as well, it slides nicely in and out of a pocket and the buttons/protective flaps along the ports are well fit and responsive. Also, I really like the texture of the thin layer of rubber used, it feels quite nice to the touch even though it naturally attracts a little bit of pocket matter.
A few cons I would like to point out are the cheap screen protector included, this thing has no cutouts along the top for either the front facing camera or the small lights of the MT4G, it's serves well enough as a temp but I would really consider getting a better one. Also, the thin layer of exposed rubber used along the top and bottom of the case doesn't feel very protective, I would have been happier with a little bit more rubber rounding off around the corners. And lastly, the hard plastic shell doesn't grip surfaces very well when rested on its back. I can picture this phone sliding or tumbling for longer than it should if it were to take a nasty drop, not a big deal, just note that the surface is a little slick.
Details, details, details, overall this case is very nice and well worth the money. Another case I was eyeing before I bought this one was the Trident "Aegis" case, you may want to check them out if you're in the market for a good case other than this Otterbox.

Average Reviews:

I have had my Desire HD for a week now - bought from TKS in Germany (and paid more than it would have been on Amazon). Overall I am very happy with it:
PROS:

- Solid build quality and, unlike most other phones, its not a glossy fingerprint magnet!
- Large and beautiful screen with great color saturation
- Runs fast and is very responsive - I have not encountered any lag
- Wi-Fi Hotspot is easily set up so I can pull e-mail into my iP*d Touch
- Replaceable battery in the event that the battery fails
- Image quality of camera runs circles around *Phone 3GS and is better than IP4
- Sound quality is fabulous for music and great for calls
- USB internet pass-through functionality to save 3G data charges
- Its a small thing but the live wallpapers are beautiful
- Setting up IMAP to pull in Exchange e-mail is easy
- Otterbox makes a very nice case for it
CONS:

- Battery life is only so-so - a day and a half at best
- Poor design for SIM card slot - the SIM causes a (slight) unsightly gap on the bottom cover
- Removing and replacing the battery cover is tricky - mine has a tiny gap after it was replaced
- Limited storage (8-Gb micro-SD) for the price - should have been 16-Gb
- Android market is a mess to say it nicely - limited number of good games
Complaints about the box and size are silly. Why would you buy a large phone then complain about the size? I have a 3GS and iP4 for games - but this phone has completely won me over for daily use. The screen is large enough to comfortably surf the web and handle routine e-mail. It's so good that I can hardly put it down and I can easily overlook the cons!!

HTC Mogul PPC-6800 Phone (Sprint) Review

HTC Mogul PPC-6800 Phone (Sprint)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
When I recently decided that I was tired of printing my schedule out each night and toting a hardcopy with me, the obvious answer was to get a convergent device that integrated PDA functionality with cell phone functionality. After a fair bit of research, I bought an HTC Mogul for a couple reasons: WiFi connectivity to the web, Microsoft Windows Mobile for reliable synchronization with Outlook, a large touchscreen, and a slide-out keyboard to name just a few.
On paper, this device was hard to beat. The design just seemed to incorporate everything I wanted - or thought I wanted.
Unfortunately, while the concept of this device is terrific, the execution had some gaping holes. I used it for about a week, and then gave up and sold it on eBay.
Here's why:
* Phone Dialing: As I said in the title, the Mogul is a really nifty PDA that makes a really, really good electronic daytimer. But it isn't a very good phone. Sliding out the keyboard to dial a number was very cumbersome, and using the touchscreen was maddening. No matter how big the screen is, it is still too easy to press the wrong digits as you dial. So, you either reach for the stylus, which is a pain just to dial a number, or you get used to hitting the backspace key a lot as you type a wrong digit, erase it, and stumble your way through the supposed-to-be-simple process of dialing a phone number. A big drawback of a touchscreen is that there is no tactile feedback to tell you if you have pressed the key. At the end of the day, the process of dialing the phone - one of the most basic things that a cell phone should be good at - was unnecessarily cumbersome.
* Bluetooth: Many of the reviews on the Mogul comment on the poor quality of the Bluetooth. In my experience, they are right. I could hear other people just fine, but the converse was not true: they always complained about the quality of my voice. I read elsewhere that the device shares the same antenna for WiFi and Bluetooth, and this creates problems when both are in use. I don't know if it is true or not, and I don't recall whether there was any marked improvement in the Bluetooth audio quality when the WiFi was off versus when it was on. I just know that the Bluetooth quality was almost always marginal and the ability to talk handsfree is very important to me. I talk frequently on the phone from my home office for business and I like to have my hands free for other tasks. I can't tell you how many times I had to rip the earpiece out of my ear in disgust to just hold the phone up to my mouth so others could hear me. Like that particle the vacuum won't pick up, you keep running it over and over the carpet to give it "one last chance" before finally giving up and picking up the crumb by hand. That's how it was with the Bluetooth on this phone. You keep giving it "one last chance." I don't know about you, but when I call people, they want to hear more than "can you hear me now" 15 times in a conversation.
* Voice Command: This phone is advertised as having voice command. Perhaps if you get it directly from HTC this is true. But if you buy the Sprint version, this functionality has been turned off and you are limited to the older voice tag functionality where you have to use your own voice to record tags for each number or command that you want to launch with voice activation. Sounds OK - until you realize that those 200 numbers in your phone book mean recording 200 voice tags, which takes a lot of time, not to mention memory space. But then comes the real rub: when you try to actually use the voice tags to dial numbers in hands-free fashion when wearing your Bluetooth earpiece, it never - and I mean never - works. Now, imagine the anticipation of being able to use this phone when you are driving, and realizing that it just ain't gonna happen. You pull over, yank out the stylus, dial the number, merge back into traffic and...busy signal...no answer...wrong number...etc. Do that twice and it is two times too many. Ultimately, this lack of handsfree capabilities was the show stopper that caused me to sell the phone rather than keep it. As an aside, there are two kinds of voice activation capabilities in cell phones these days: voice tags and voice command. Voice command is true voice recognition software, similar to the unattended answering systems that many help desks and customer service lines use these days. You know... "press or say 1 for sales, 2 for technical support, 3 for questions about your billing, ..." It recognizes any voice. On the newer phones with voice command, you can say things like "call John Smith...mobile" or "call John Smith...home" or "call 555-1992" and it will WORK, whether directly into the handset or into the Bluetooth earpiece or when using the speakerphone. For whatever reason, the Mogul's implementation of the voice tag recognition features were just not robust. If I have to speak directly into the handset rather than an earpiece, the whole voice recognition thing is sort of a moot point.
* Integrated connector: HTC uses a connector that they call ExUSB, which basically combines audio, charging, and sync functions into a single connector. The unique connector design means that you can plug a standard mini-USB cable into the device for charging and synchronizing to a PC, or can connect headphones that use the proprietary ExUSB style format. The connector on the device is designed to accept both. They also provide a splitter that let you use conventional 2.5mm headsets while simultaneously plugged into a charger or while sync'ing. I thought it was a rather elegant solution, but I really would have preferred two independent connections on the device: a 3.5 mm headset jack and a conventional mini-USB. This was not a big dissatisfier, but rather a minor annoyance to have to carry an extra "gizmo" with me when I wanted to use standard earphones with the device (my ears don't do well with earbud-style headsets...I prefer over-the-ear).
So, as I said, the main dissatisfiers with the Mogul were aspects related to its functionality as a phone. I don't know about you, but I was hoping for something that was a rock solid phone and a pretty good PDA. What I got was a rock solid PDA and a very iffy phone.
But enough of the bashing. Let's talk about what I DID like in this device.
* Intuitive GUI: Because it was a Windows device, the user interface was very familiar. Didn't know quite what to do next? Right click. Expecting the organizer to work like Outlook? It does...because it IS Outlook. Want to open and read WORD docs or EXCEL spreadsheets or even open PDFs from websites you are accessing? No problem. It all works flawlessly. It is basically like having a pocket sized version of your most frequently used desktop tools with you. I did not have to constantly refer to the manual because it was all pretty familiar territory for those who have used Windows for any length of time on their desktop.
* Media Player: The media player was pretty much just a scaled down version of its big brother desktop version, Windows Media Player 10 or 11. And, contrary to what I was told by the HTC help desk, it does support microSD cards larger than 2GB (and Sprint? Don't even go there...their ability to answer simple technical questions like "how large of a memory card can I use?" or "will the microSD slot support the newer SDHC format?" was abysmal). Turns out the device will work with SDHC cards just fine and I corresponded with several people that were using 4GB and 8GB memory cards with no problem. Translation: you can put an awful lot of mp3s, photos, messages, and files on 8 gigs. There is little need to carry a second device like an iPod for multimedia anymore. Also, I really liked the fact that accessing the microSD card was so easy on this device. I now own a Blackberry Pearl and it is considerably more cumbersome to insert and remove the microSD card. As a result, I never remove it unless absolutely necessary. That was not the case with the Mogul and when I wanted to add files, I just took the microSD card out, inserted it into the std. SD-sized adapater, plugged it into my PC, and used it as a removable drive. Super easy.
* Touchscreen: While I did not like the touchscreen for dialing phone numbers, it really was pretty slick for most of the other PDA functionality. Frankly, I found it easier to type most of the time just using a "soft" keyboard that displayed on the screen by pressing an optional menu command than to slide out the keyboard tray and start pounding away with my thumbs.
* Widescreen: There is a nice feature that automatically changes the screen orientation from vertical to horizontal when you slide out the keyboard. But you can also select this manually even when the keyboard tray is hidden. The generous screen size was nice for "day at a glance" functionality when I wanted to see previews of all my appointments for the day, all my tasks, missed calls, e-mails, etc. on a single screen. It was also nice for surfing the web.
* WiFi: I bought this device primarily to use in my home and in my office, both of which have WiFi. Since I don't have an internet data plan with my phone service, it was nice to be able to surf the web for free wherever WiFi was available, whether my house, the plant, or the local Starbucks. This functionality also allowed me to connect to our corporate intranet easily, something that would have been tough using over-the-air internet service from Sprint. At minimum, it would have meant having to tunnel into the corporate intranet using VPN all the time.
* Flexibility: Because this thing is - at heart - a computer running Windows Mobile, there are plenty of geeks out there that have been able...Read more›

Leave the laptop behind and stay connected and productive wherever you roam with the HTC Mogul PPC-6800 Smartphone, the newest Windows Mobile 6 Professional Edition device from Sprint. The successor to the popular Sprint PPC-6700, the HTC Mogul has a surprise waiting up its sleeve: just slide the top of the phone sideways to reveal a full QWERTY keyboard. And the new Windows Mobile 6 operating system enables you to view and edit Word and Excel documents as well as provides instant message capabilities via Windows Live Messenger. (See more details about Windows Mobile 6 below.) The included Outlook Mobile software offers up-to-date e-mail, calendar and contact information.
It operates on Sprint's North American CDMA voice network, as well as on Sprint's Mobile Broadband Network (EV-DO), which enables you to quickly access audio, video and data applications as well as connect directly to your office's network. (This phone will also be the first handset from Sprint that will support EV-DO Rev. A data speeds via a free software upgrade that will be made available at a later date.) Other features include built-in Wi-Fi capability, Bluetooth connectivity (for headsets and stereo headphones), 2-megapixel camera/camcorder, and MicroSD memory card expansion.
Sprint Service Supporting the EV-DO high-speed data standard, the HTC Mogul is fully compatible with Sprint's Power Vision service. With Power Vision, you can download and stream high-quality video, straight onto your phone. Enjoy full-color video clips or live TV of the latest news, sports, and entertainment from brands you know, like CNN, Fox, The Weather Channel, NFL Mobile, and more. Power Vision also serves as a portal for enhanced games. Where coverage is available, EV-DO connectivity provides average download speeds ranging from 400 to 700 Kbps, with peak rates up to 2 Mbps. Sprint Power Vision also enables faster Web browsing and Internet email access. At launch, the Mogul supports EV-DO Rev. 0 data speeds on the Sprint Mobile Broadband Network, and it will be able to take advantage of increased data speeds when Sprint provides support for EV-DO Rev. A technology on the device via a free software upgrade.
Sprint's music service is another EV-DO-powered service that makes the M510 all the more desirable. With the Sprint Music Store, your phone is a music player, letting you buy, download, and then jam out wherever you are with new songs or old favorites. Offering a growing selection of more than 1.6 million songs, the store provides you two copies of each song--one for the phone and another for the PC, as well as the ability to burn songs to a CD using Windows Media Player. Save your songs to a memory card with a capacity that's right for you. You can even pause to take a call without missing a beat.
Phone Features The sliding keyboard provides a familiar interface and allows for quick and efficient input of information, and the slide-to-hide form factor eliminates bulkiness for a sleek and stylish design. It measures just 0.73 inches thin and weighs a svelte 5.8 ounces. The 2.8-inch color touchscreen transreflective TFT screen automatically orients itself depending on how you hold the phone (i.e., from portrait to landscape and back again). It displays 65,000 colors and has a 320 x 240-pixel resolution.
In addition to supporting EV-DO wireless broadband networking, the Mogul also features Wi-Fi (802.11b/g), which enables you to use open wireless networks at airports and coffee shops. This phone provides Bluetooth version 2.0 wireless connectivity, and includes profiles for communication headset, handsfree car kits, and audio/video remote control. With the A2DP Bluetooth profile, you can stream your music to a pair of compatible Bluetooth stereo headphones. You can connect your laptop (either via Bluetooth or wired USB) and enjoy dial-up networking--surf the Internet, send email, and access files from a server--using Sprint's Mobile Broadband Network. And when connected to a Bluetooth headset, caller information for incoming calls will be spoken through the Bluetooth device. Decide to answer the call without ever looking at your phone.
The 2-megapixel autofocus camera (with up to 8x digital zoom) on the back of the Mogul captures images up to 1600 x 1200 pixels (good enough for prints up to 8 x 10 inches). You can make such camera adjustments as white balance and exposure metering, choose from resolution modes (such as sports for fast-moving action) as well as use of the integrated flash, and set a self-timer of either 2 or 10 seconds. Additionally, the Wing can capture video with or without audio (in MPEG-4, 3GPP2, or H.263 format, the latter being best for sending via MMS). You can also play back audio and video files downloaded from the Internet or sent to you via email using the integrated Windows Media Player.
Other features include:
Included memory: 256 MB ROM (163 MB user accessible); 64 MB RAM (49 MB user accessible)
Instantly send and receive SMS Text Messages across the room or across the country.
Updated ActiveSync technology (version 4.0) offers one of the best PC to mobile device sync experiences, making it easier to configure with faster data transfer and sync accuracy.
Includes an on-device link to the Sprint PCS Software Store provided by Handango, where you can find, download and buy software, games, ringtones, graphics and other Windows Mobile Pocket PC applications simply and securely.
Hands-free operation of your phone is made easy with the built-in speakerphone, allowing you to take a conference call virtually anywhere
Stereo Headset jack for handsfree operation and music enjoyment.

Vital Statistics The HTC Mogul weighs 5.8 ounces and measures 4.33 x 2.32 x 0.73 inches. Its 1500 mAh lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 4.1 hours of talk time. It runs on the CDMA 850/1900 frequencies, as well as the EV-DO data network. The phone comes with a one year limited warranty.
Powered by Windows Mobile 6 Microsoft's Windows Mobile 6 updates the Windows Mobile 5 platform with a number of handy features that make searching through email, editing Microsoft Office documents, and staying on top of your most important communications even easier. Emails can now be viewed in their original rich HTML format and now offer the ability to visit embedded links. It also includes Windows Live for Windows Mobile, which provides a full set of Windows Live services, such as the Windows Live Messenger IM application, which now enables you to chat with more than one person at one time or send a file.
With Windows Mobile 6, your phone will finally be able to emulate the power and features of your PC's Microsoft Office suite. You'll be able to neatly view, navigate and edit Word documents and Excel spreadsheets in their original formatting--without affecting tables, images or text--as well as view PowerPoint presentations.
Microsoft Office Word Mobile features include spell-check, Find and Replace commands, bulleted lists, text formatting, and support for tables for the first time.
With Excel Mobile, youÕre not just confined to editing charts: with the new Chart Wizard you can create charts quickly and easily.
PowerPoint Mobile allows you to view the full presentation, rehearse timings, check the order and any live links you may have in your presentation. You can then email comments back to the team or communicate via MSN Messenger for an immediate response.
After creating or editing a Word document or Excel spreadsheet, you can synchronize it with your PC and it will automatically be converted to the PC version.

All Windows Mobile 6 powered devices include Direct Push Technology for up-to-date e-mail delivery and automatic synchronization of Outlook calendars, tasks and contacts through Microsoft Exchange Server. It also offers a set of important device security and management features that include the capability to remotely wipe all data from a device should it be lost or stolen, helping ensure that confidential information remains that way.

Spectacular Phone!
I am a long-term Blackberry user that uses his phone mostly for business but also for managing personal accounts. For several years, I have used Blackberry to handle my messaging demands including two (2) exchange accounts and four (4) personal accounts. I had been waiting to move to phone that could smartly handle these needs, and I have found it with the HTC Sensation. I bought this phone early and have been using it since 6/10/2011.

HTC has customized the email application, and it is smooth, elegant, and fast. I had no problems configuring my Exchange, MSFT Live, and various POP accounts with the phone. The Sensation quickly synced all my accounts with ease. The Exchange integration is exceptional: you get push email, push calendar, and push contacts integration.
HTC also features a flexible presentation model where it unifies your emails into a single box and color codes the email by account received. You can also use a dropdown menu and select to view a single mailbox at a time. This mail implementation is better than anything offer with the BB, and more robust than the messaging application on the iPhone.
When you receive an email, you will get a notification through Android's notification menu AND and LED indicator will flash. BB's universal implementation of a notification light is a simple yet necessary function for me, and I am glad that HTC has decided to include a notification light. It is not as bright as the one found in my BB, but it does the job.
I don't use gmail, but interestingly, that is managed by a separate Google provided email program.
Contacts Integration
HTC has again included its Contact management application instead of the Android stock, and it is an elegant solution. One of the benefits of their application is that it will link duplicate entries into a unified contact account. So, if you have someone listed in your Exchange, POP, social networking address book, it will allow you to link these into a single contact entry to simplify your contact list. It's a great feature and helps you organize everything.
Push Calendar
No issues with it. I believe that the included application looks great and has no problems syncing with Exchange.
Build
This phone has exceptional build quality. It is made of aluminum and plastic and feels great in your hands. Not only the phone comfortable to hold, but it feels heavy. I like a heavy phone: it speaks to the quality of the build materials and does not feel like it will break apart with use.
The main navigation buttons are virtual, haptic buttons located at the bottom of the phone. The one issue with these virtual buttons, is that sometimes I accidentally trigger the "back" button when I intend to depress the space key. This is not a major issue, and one that with practice you begin to avoid.
The power/wake up button is on the top of the phone. It is responsive and has proper travel and response. The only other physical buttons are the volume rocker on the left of the phone. The one thing I miss is a dedicated physical camera button. Instead, you have to trigger the application through the menu system and then use the virtual shutter button on the screen. Again, I wish there was a physical camera button, but it's not a deal killer.
Phone Audio
Phone calls are loud and crisp, and the large ear grill allows you to hear calls very well. Callers commented that they had no problems hearing me as well. When this phone makes a call through Wifi, the call quality increases even more and the voice quality becomes even more outstanding.

The speaker is on the bottom of the phone; so, if you turn the phone over, the volume picks up. My Blackberry has the advantage of having the speaker on the top of the phone; so, this phone flip is not necessary.
Keyboard
The other important departure from the Blackberry was the physical keyboard. I was very skeptical and had not been impressed by other Android based keyboard's such as the one on the Galaxy S. HTC has implemented two custom input methods. Its keyboard substitute works very well and functions like the excellent keyboards found in Windows 7 Phone phones. The large screen also minimizes errors. HTC has also implemented its own version of a Swipe keyboard. It works fine, but I prefer the HTC keyboard. Coming from the Blackberry physical keyboard, I am actually faster with the HTC virtual keyboard, which was my biggest surprise when using this phone!
Android Wifi Calling
I relied on Blackberry and T-Mobile's UMA implementation. This allowed me to get perfect service from my home, receive signals at work, and make calls when traveling internationally. T-Mobile has integrated its version of UMA calling the HTC Sensation. It works just as well at the Blackberry's UMA implementation. Once you active the feature, it signs-in seamlessly with WiFi networks without further intervention. This is such a huge feature that T-Mobile should aggressively advertise, since it allows you to place calls in locations where no phone can receive cellular signals.
Conclusion
In short, buy this phone. It's fast, well-built and packed with a great package of software features that make it perfect for business and pleasure.

Boasting the latest HTC Sense experience, the Sensation 4G features a customizable active lockscreen that transforms the lockscreen into a real-time window to the most important information and content, such as social updates, photos, weather or stock updates that are viewed by simply waking up the display.

Additionally, the new active lockscreen becomes a customizable gateway that lets you quickly jump to your most used features--whether it be making a call, sending an e-mail, or taking a picture. For example, the camera can be launched right from the lock screen with a single motion, saving precious seconds when you're trying to capture the action.

On-the-Go Entertainment
The HTC Sensation 4G is the first smartphone to feature HTC Watch--an application and service that puts an entire library of the latest, premium movies and TV shows right at your fingertips. HTC Watch uses progressive download technology that makes it possible to watch videos without waiting for a huge file to finish downloading. You can either rent or buy videos, and if purchased, you can watch them on up to five different HTC devices. Other pre-loaded entertainment options include:

HTC Listen: A VIP pass to a library of millions of songs with the freedom to transfer purchases to another device or computer

What's in the Box
Sensation 4G handset, rechargeable battery, charger, 8 GB microSD card, USB cable, quick start guide

Android Gingerbread Operating System
The Sensation 4G runs the Android 2.3 operating system (dubbed Gingerbread)--the fastest version of Android available for smartphones yet. It features a cleaner, more refined interface with new icons, improved top notification bar, and more intuitive navigation. Multitasking in Gingerbread allows you the ability to run more than one app at a time. If you're playing a game, you can easily switch to an incoming email and then switch back to the game without losing your place.

A new onscreen keyboard makes it easier to type thanks to additional spacing between the keys and larger font sizes. And the more you use the keyboard, the easier typing will be as the enhanced suggest feature records previous input history to make better suggestions. And like the previous version of Android ("Froyo"), Gingerbread provides support for Adobe Flash Player 10.1 for access to the full Web.

The Sensation also brings one-touch access to the popular Google mobile services you use every day, including Google Search, Gmail, Google Maps with Navigation, Google Calendar, Picasa, and YouTube. It also provides easy access to both personal and corporate e-mail, calendars, and contacts supported by Exchange Server and Gmail. For BLACK GRAY Trident Cyclops HTC EVO 4G Hard Case Review

For BLACK GRAY Trident Cyclops HTC EVO 4G Hard Case
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I must admit after reading a few of the reviews for this product I was concerned about the quality. I used the platnium series HEC20SB case originally. When the platnium series case cracked after a few drops I searched for alternative.
This case provides the security of the otter box defender case but not as bulky. The case fits securely around my phone with no shifting. The screen protector part of the case appears dirty at times, which is a little anoying, and taking the case apart to clean it is some what of a task. The phone can sit face down without the screen touching the surface. The edges of the screen can be difficult to touch due to the raised edges. The case protects the camers from touching the surface, as well, when laying face up. Getting to the ear phone jack can be a little time consuming at first until you get used to the flaps.
One of the reasons I purchased this product is because it protects the open ports of the phone.
Overall I am satisfied with my purchase and the fast shipping service received from the seller.

Skinomi TechSkin - Screen Protector Shield for HTC Arrive Review

Skinomi TechSkin - Screen Protector Shield for HTC Arrive
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Over the years I have had a number of smartphones, for each one I have used the invisible shield by zagg (IS). After deciding to purchase the HTC Arrive I kept watching for zagg to release a screen protecter for it. After the device hit the streets and still no sign of the IS, and responses from Zagg saying they didn't know if they would even make one for it, I decided to pick up the Skinomi TechSkin.
Installation was a breeze. A few things to make installation easier...
I always try to wait to take the factory stickers off until I am ready to install the new protector. In this case I had to wait a week to play with my new phone because USPS was incredibly slow for some reason. If you couldn't wait, pick up a microfiber cloth and an air duster and try to clean your screen as best you can. Both of these items would be handy to have around even if you still have the factory stickers on.
Create a clean work area and have someone on hand to spray for you. Have your helper grab some paper towels to help absorb any of the extra liquid that you are going to squeege out once you have the skin in place. Don't use these until you have the skin down or you will be spending alot of time trying to remove fibers.
****IMPORTANT>>>>> There is a small cutout (notch) in the skin, at first I had no idea what this was for and thought it was a mistake. It turns out there are 2 small sensors (proximity and light?) ON THE TOP OF THE PHONE. This cutout keeps them from being covered by the skin. Kudos to Skinomi for thinking of this. Anyway, make sure you place this notch on top of the phone as it would probably fit either way. There was nothing in the directions about this, it would have been nice if they would throw in a small piece of paper or something showing you the proper oreintation.
Once you have all this taken care of, just follow the directions. Make sure you spray your fingers really well, then peel the skin. Doing it in this order will avoid fingerprints. Spray (have your helper do this while you hold it) the skin really well and apply, pull it back up if you don't get it aligned perfectly the first time. Just keep your fingers wet, this is where the helper comes in handy.
Now that I have had it on for a few days, I have to say that I am really happy with it. To me it feels about the same as the IS but it is less noticable visually. Even with the screen off it is really hard to tell it is there. With the IS I could see it. The tactile feel seems to work really well with the capacitive touch screen. It requires much less force on the screen compared to the resistive screen I had on my last phone. When you don't have to push so hard, your finger seems to glide easily across the screen. I would go as far as to say that it is just as responsive as the bare glass. The capacative buttons seem to work very well too.
I would say that I am now a Skinomi convert. I will be oredering from them for all of my devices in the future and recommending them to my friends.

Thank goodness this comes with several in the pack. I messed up the first one, learned from my mistake, and adhered the second one without any problems. I reduces the glare on my wifes phone and nearly eliminates finger prints, which drive her nuts. Good product and received in a timely manner.

I ended up buying 4 of these, to outfit my parents, hubby and my cell phones. So far 3 of them have been wonderful, they are completely clear and protected our phones from all scratches, and drops. However, the shield for my phone didn't hold up. My one year one did use my phone as a teething toy whenever I had my back turned. I have to buy another shield, this time I am going to try another kind, just to see what else is on the market. Great product though!

I bought 2 of these, one for my wife and I. I would rate it a 5 but there's a problem with the protective screen and camera lens on both that makes our pictures come out with a hue of the case color, in this case yellow, my wife's is blue. The manufacturer knows about the problem, simply remove the protective lens although I would have preffered to keep them intact.. Almost perfect.

HTC EVO 4G Android Phone (Sprint) Review

HTC EVO 4G Android Phone (Sprint)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
To give you the perspective that I'm coming from, I'm not a dedicated techie. I upgraded to the EVO from a Treo Centro (sorry Palm OS!). Though I know what a Snapdragon processor is, my review won't be on that level of expertise. I'd rate my ability to adapt to new technology as fair-to-middling.
Here goes: The phone itself is classy looking. When off, it reminds me of the black stone monolith in 2001, A Space Odyssey. When on, the screen is bright, and has VERY sharp detail (again, I'm coming from the perspective of my Centro). The pinch and spread function (to contract or spread the picture on the screen) works very smoothly and consistently. The "flick" function, used to scroll through apps, is wonderful, don't know how I did without it before. The screen is QUITE sensitive to touch, requiring a bit of getting used to for someone who does not count manual dexterity amongst my assets. Though the phone is big (4.2 inch screen)it is very slender, not heavy, and I don't find it cumbersome in the least. It is comfortable in the hand.
The camera: first, it has two: the heavy duty one (8 megapixel) faces out the back, a 1 megapixel on the keyboard side. In a 4G area (I'm not, yet), this allows video phone calls, I'm told. The camera has autofocus and a surprisingly bright flash. Picture quality seems good to very good.
Sound: I'm a bit hard of hearing, no problems at all with this phone. The sound quality is the best I've ever had on a cell phone. EVO has very few buttons, but it does have a very easy to use up and down volume buttons on the upper left side of the phone, works great.
Keyboard. Well, hmmm. My Centro had a manual keyboard, and if there is anything that I really miss with the EVO, it's actual keys. Though the virtual keyboard is BIG when the phone is tilted to landscape mode, many functions on the phone (including entering contacts!) only allow the portrait keyboard for Qwerty. The phone has three keyboards to choose from, so if you're a whiz with the standard cell phone keyboard that kids are miraculously good at texting with, you can choose that format. I'm getting better, but still quite a few errors in keying.
Speed: in a word: fast. Very little lag between functions, even when more than one function is chugging along.
Voice recognition: the Google search by voice is (for a novice like me) nothing short of a miracle. Say "Quilt stores", and the phone takes into account your GPS location, in seconds a list of quilt stores (or Starbucks, or mountain biking trails)is at your disposal. SO cool! The directory search for phone contacts by voice is a bit more hesitant, could stand some spiffing.
Apps: Holy Cow! Again, I'm a novice, but the very accurate GPS, in conjunction with entertainment apps such as Yelp! and Flixter, is mind-boggling. Touch Flixter, and this very smart phone instantly (NO input required) brings up all theaters, movie times, trailers, Rotten Tomato ratings, AND, all the restaurants in the area of your chosen movie, AND turn by turn directions to the theater thanks to Google Maps. Basically, get off a plane anywhere in North America, you're ready to roll!
The GPS. Eerie, when combined with Google Maps. To navigate, you don't have to enter your starting place, the phone already KNOWS where you are. With a function called "layers", while navigating from point to point you can incorporate a satellite view, giving you an awesome (and distracting!) view of all the territory/buildings around you, for miles, depending on the scale that you choose. Get a (free) sports app, and the GPS/accelerometer kicks in to tell you exactly how far you've gone, maps the route you've taken, tells you how much elevation you've gained (!), and how many calories (incorporating your weight) that you've burned. Crikey, what fun! I used the GPS first day out with my EVO to find a restaurant, than used the voice turn by turn (it does call out specific street names, not just "turn left" or "turn right"). It was flawless, and VERY up to date with recent construction in the area.
WiFi, signed on to my home network without any trouble.
Ability to personalize: terrific, many options to "make it your own".
Synchronization with multiple functions: terrific. No trouble setting up e-mail accounts (you MUST have a Gmail account for full function). I calendar with the online Google calendar on my laptop, the transfer to my phone calendar is automatic and virtually instantaneous.
Bad stuff: they lie if they say that getting all your Palm OS data is going to transfer accurately. Argh. But I'm getting it straightened out. In the "Someday" category: EVO does not support Netflix instant play yet, nor Hulu. I'm a family doc, it DOES support Epocrates, an essential pharmacology data base.
Battery life: I'm guessing 4 hours of continual multi-use, way better than that for talk time only. This multi-function micro-mainframe of an instrument has multiple draws on its battery: GPS, WiFi, AND, you can actually talk on the thing.
So here's my bottom line: If they could give me an easier keyboard, or allow full voice recognition (I use and love Dragon 10.1 at work), EVO and I would become soul mates. As it is, after about a day and a half of adapting to a non-Palm OS system (I had one of the original Palm Pilots), I can tell that a long and fruitful friendship is in the making with this product. The leap from a semi-smart phone, like the Palm Centro, to this one is a quantum leap, not a simple upgrade. Without exaggeration, I can say that the EVO will change the way I operate on a day to day basis. I can also say that it is a whoppingly fun toy to play with!
7/20/2010 Addendum/Update: This is a great phone, and I'll stick by my original statement that it is a quantum leap, not an upgrade, over any previous smart phone that I've owned. BUT...the battery life is a real problem. Even with an App Killer, and even with the GPS and Wi-Fi turned off when I don't need them, well...let's talk car gas mileage and gas mileage for Army tanks. With cars, you describe gas consumption in terms of miles per gallon. With tanks, you describe it in gallons per mile (this is true). If not a tank, the EVO is at least a half-track regarding energy consumption: that little green bar informing you about battery life keeps you mentally tethered to the nearest wall outlet or USB port. I have never run the battery completely down during a workday, but I've come uncomfortably close. There is no question that the value of the EVO would be significantly improved by tripling its battery life, or making replacement/spare batteries available at low cost. Otherwise...I love my Evo!
8-14-2010 Update: The Froyo (Android 2.2) update was simple and flawlessly executed. Even better, it is a substantial improvement. From the very useful Flashlight app that uses the phone's flash LED's as a flashlight, to the quicker transition from one app to another, it's a winner. On a different note, those of you that wonder whether you can "tether" your Evo to your computer as a modem, using a cheap or free one-time app instead of a $29/month fee from Sprint: yes. Which makes the phone even more valuable in hotels and airports that want to charge $10/day for internet, not to mention being on a road trip.
9/30/10 Update: Purchased the Seido battery that has double the capacity of the OEM battery: it's for real! No question whatsoever that I'm going to get through the whole day with power to spare, even leaving Wi-Fi and GPS on, even using the screen for Kindle reading for extended periods. The battery, contrary to what some reviewers have said about it, does significantly add to the weight and thickness of the phone. For me the issue is no contest: I no longer need to know where the nearest electrical socket is, and I have freedom to use all the phone's functions without fear of the color red on the battery bar showing up.

HTC EVO 4G Power Management
The HTC EVO 4G offers new capabilities for a smartphone that require more power, which can impact its battery life more than what you may have experienced using other smartphones.

It has more radios to power (3G, 4G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS).
It features a larger screen than most typical smartphones.
It offers more capabilities than most typical smartphones, including:
Management of multiple email accounts and syncing
WiFi access point
WiFi Router capability
4G data
GPS
Access to several 3rd party applications through the Market
Applications and Processes running in the background

With the HTC EVO 4G, you have the ability to manage your phone's power consumption to optimize its battery life. These include:
Battery Usage Tools Before you are ready to charge your phone you can view what has been using your battery during this charge cycle.
Settings -> About Phone -> Battery -> Battery use
Multiple Radios
The multiple radios on this device will use battery life even when you are not using them.

To improve battery life, turn off your Bluetooth, GPS, 4G, Wi-Fi, and Wi-Fi Sprint Mobile Hotspot if you are not using them.
4G Connectivity
The 4G radio should only be turned ON when the improved network speed is required for an application, such as YouTube, Web Browsing, or Sprint Mobile Hotspot. When not in use, its important to use the built-in 4G widget (preloaded on Home tile left of center) to turn the 4G radio OFF.

If you have your 4G radio ON, but are no longer in 4G coverage then your device will be scanning in an attempt to re-acquire the 4G network. Your battery can be significantly drained by the scanning processes, so if you know you will be out of 4G coverage for an extended period of time or if you are not acquiring a 4G signal as indicated in the task bar, it would be important to turn your 4G radio OFF.
E-mail Applications Settings
The e-mail settings allow you to setup peak and off-peak hours for e-mail sync on each email account.

Pop Account
Mail -> Menu -> More -> Settings -> Send & Receive -> Set Download Frequency

Exchange Account
Mail -> Menu -> More -> Settings -> Send & Receive -> Schedule

Generally, less frequent syncing equates to better battery life.
Google Talk
As soon as you sign up for the Google Market or Gmail with your Gmail account information, you are also signed in to the Google Talk instant messaging application. The Talk application tracks the presence of your Google Talk contacts in order to let you know who is available to instant message. Each presence change uses a small amount of power even if you do not have the Talk application open.

If you have numerous contacts who are changing presence throughout the day all of these small impacts to your battery can add up to significantly shorten your battery life.

Switching between 3G and 4G coverage
When switching between 3G and 4G coverage, the HTC EVO 4G may experience a very brief interruption of data service as the device switches network connections. During this brief interruption, applications attempting to access data may be unable to do so and may display an error message. Below are some examples of how to proceed if an error message appears on the device. Other data-usage applications may experience a very brief interruption and will continue functioning once the network handoff is complete.

HP Veer 4G webOS Phone, Black (AT&T) Review

HP Veer 4G webOS Phone, Black (ATandT)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The HP Veer is for people who don't want to carry a tablet PC as a phone. The best part is that it's fully compatible with the webOS ecosystem, including the HP TouchPad and all the already-available Palm Pixi apps. This is a great phone, even for power users. The magnetic headphone connector is a little strange, but maybe it's time to get a nice set of bluetooth headphones anyway.

Get all the capabilities of the most advanced smartphones--a well-designed slide-out keyboard, touchscreen, and useful apps--on a device that's no larger than a credit card with the HP Veer for AT&T. You'll have access to the web (with Flash support), apps, social networks, and more on a smartphone that's no thicker than a deck of cards.

And with AT&T's 4G network, you'll enjoy mobile broadband speeds up to 4x faster than AT&T's already fast mobile broadband network (learn more below). You also get the AT&T Mobile Hotspot service built right into the smartphone--enabling you to connect additional Wi-Fi-enabled devices to the phone's mobile broadband signal (requires appropriate data plan).

The HP webOS operating system provides true multitasking and quicker switching between multiple apps. You'll also be able to seamlessly connect to multiple web services--from Facebook and LinkedIn to corporate Microsoft Exchange accounts--on a single screen with the updated HP Synergy feature.

The Veer still includes a vivid 2.6-inch touchscreen and QWERTY keyboard that slides out from the bottom. It's outfitted with 8 GB of internal memory and super speedy Wireless-N Wi-Fi. Other features include GPS for navigation and location-based services, a 5-megapixel camera/camcorder, Bluetooth for hands-free devices and stereo music streaming, access to personal/corporate e-mail and instant messaging services, multimedia player compatible with multiple music and video formats, and up to 5.0 hours of talk time.

Get More Done, Have More Fun with HP webOS
With the true multitasking of HP webOS on the HP Veer, you'll be able to pause a game, tap an e-mail notification, check your calendar, read a restaurant review, send an e-mail reply, then switch back to the game without closing anything, It also lets you easily manage multiple open applications and notifications using natural touch gestures.

Start an e-mail, create a message, update your status, search your favorite websites--all before you've even opened an app. With HP webOS, whenever you want to do something on your phone--whether it's e-mailing, texting, searching or almost anything--just type.

One Contact, Multiple Sources Let's say you have contact information in Microsoft Exchange for a coworker who is also a Facebook friend. With HP webOS, all of that contact information is combined in one simple view, so finding the mobile number, e-mail, or address you need is easy. Just tap your friend's name and it's right there. It's the same for information from Google, LinkedIn, and Yahoo!

View E-mail Accounts Side by Side Customize your e-mail inbox and view all of your accounts together or separately. Mark the folders you use most as favorites for faster access. See work e-mail alone--or combined in a favorites folder with personal e-mail from places like Gmail or Yahoo! Mail.

Text, Multimedia, Google Talk, AIM, and More The HP webOS combines your messaging conversations with one person in the same view. Which means you can start chatting in, say, AIM, and then pick up the conversation later in Google Talk or even as a text message.

Real Web Sites The web browser on your HP smartphone isn't a mobile browser that only shows text or watered-down versions of websites. It displays full HTML sites just like on your Mac or PC. Play video, upload photos, do online banking, and more.

Built-in GPS HP smartphones come with built-in GPS, enabling location-based services in apps like Foursquare, Google Maps, Yelp, and more. With a tap, you can allow these apps to share your location or find things you need.

Get a Music Store at Your Fingertips Buy and download music right from your HP smartphone using the Amazon MP3 app. Search by new releases, genre, or simply by typing a few letters. Then purchase with just one tap. Songs purchased from the Amazon MP3 store are DRM-free, which means you can take your music with you and share it with your other devices.

Apps at Your Fingertips There are already thousands of great apps for HP webOS, and HP is adding tons of features for app developers to help bring you more amazing experiences. Enjoy apps for social networking, health and fitness, productivity, finance, 3D games--you name it. And the redesigned App Catalog makes it even easier to find the hottest apps out there.

Vital Statistics
The HP Veer weighs 3.63 ounces and measures 3.31 x 2.15 x 0.6 inches. Its 910 mAh lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 5 hours of talk time, and up to 300 hours (12+ days) of standby time. It runs on the 850/900/1800/1900 MHz GSM/GPRS/EDGE frequencies as well as AT&T's dual-band 4G network (850/1900 MHz; HSPA+/HSDPA/UMTS) plus 2100 MHz 3G networks in international territories.

What's in the Box
HP Veer handset, rechargeable battery (non-removable), charger, USB sync/charge cable (with magnetic connector), 3.5mm headset adapter (with magnetic connector), quick start guide

AT&T 4G Network
This phone runs on AT&T's dual-band 850/1900 MHz 4G network (UMTS/HSDPA/HSPA+), and with HSPA+ you'll experience mobile data speeds up to 4x faster than ordinary mobile broadband--up to approximately 6 Mbps (download). AT&T has deployed HSPA+ to virtually 100 percent of its mobile broadband network, which enables 4G speeds when combined with enhanced backhaul (via Ethernet or fiber).

Backhaul is one of the major pieces of a telecommunications network. Think of it as the limbs connecting AT&T's cell towers with AT&T's backbone network that provides access to the Internet.

Coming later in 2011, AT&T will deliver a second layer of 4G network called LTE (Long Term Evolution) that is even faster than HSPA+ speeds.

In areas where either AT&T's 3G or 4G network is not available, you'll continue to receive service on the AT&T EDGE network, which offers availability in more than 13,000 US cities and along some 40,000 miles of major highways.

Note: AT&T's 4G mobile broadband coverage is not available in all areas. 4G speeds delivered by HSPA+ with enhanced backhaul; availability increasing with ongoing backhaul deployment.

HTC Hero Android Phone (Sprint) Review

HTC Hero Android Phone (Sprint)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I initially had gone for Blackberry's new 8350 Curve after switching from an iPhone. I made the switch because Sprint is the only service with repeaters in our hospital and so is the only service readily available throughout. The new Curve is a functional, cost-effective phone but I genuinely missed the ability to read webpages as they are and the features of a touchscreen in general. I read of the battery issues with the HTC Hero but was convinced that if I avoid the native messenging system that it would be fine and that has turned out to be the case. I can easily use the phone all day on one charge--no problem.
The iPhone compared to this device is much more simplified--the same patterns of button pushing get you wherever you want on the iPhone. That said, the Hero outdoes the iPhone in its adaptability, navigation, camera, multi-tasking and built-in applications. I did not expect that I would be as impressed as I am with this device but it's snappy, has great screen resolution and is just so intuitive that even though it's more complex than the iPhone--you'll be flying through it in no time.
