(More customer reviews)I think this is my second review on amazon because i never do them but for this one I need to warn people of this crap. I got the Fender edition and since I bought it I had problems with it. First it was because i couldn't use the camera because it didn't read the micro SD. Chatted with a T-Mobile rep and told me to restore the whole phone, I did and it worked for just 2 weeks, also this happened the very first day I bought it! Because I got tired of restoring the phone every time it stopped taking pics, I had to take the sd out and put it in so it would work.
But What really completely killed it was this January when finally I got the message saying that I can update to Froyo, I did and was the worst decision ever. It freezes, it doesn't load sometimes, it takes an hour to download a 200+kb app, it shuts down randomly, it over heats, the battery only last 3-4 hours without me using it at all, typing takes forever since it freezes every time you click on a letter and the only thing that can actually works fine is a solitaire app that I downloaded. I even tried to restored the phone but it's still the same and i know other people that got the same problem with their normal mytouch, so it's not because it's the Fender edition.
Positive things- well the fender edition is pretty, from the home charger to the earphones (which are uncomfortable as heck) and it had some music apps and like 50 free songs in the memory but because I restored the phone the very fist day I got it, I never heard any of the songs.
If you buy it, just don't do the froyo update if it doesn't have it already. But really, don't waste your money on this, it's obsolete by now (and it was obsolete when I bought it cuz a month later the mytouch slider came out and like 3 months after the 4g one) For less than $200 you can get a LG G2x that is way advance than this. That's what I did, my G2x is arriving at my home on Monday :D

(More customer reviews)I got the phone yesterday. At first I was unsure how I felt about this phone. On the one hand it looks great, but I having trouble deciding if I really liked it. After a full 24 hours with the phone I love it. It takes some time to get used to all the different functions, but what new phone doesn't have a learning curve? The curve was easy and within a few short hours I was texting, calling and checking my Facebook status along with a number of other favorite websites.
For the price it is a great deal. I had always wanted a blackberry, but was turned off by having to purchase a data plan from T-Mobile, with this phone I can get the data plan for only 10 dollars a month, and they gave me the first 30 days free to see if I like the web features enough to keep them. Certainly I do at that price. I would recommend this phone to anyone in the market.
ONE YEAR LATER
I have now had this phone a little over a year. Actually I have had two of these phones. It appears that they are only good for about six months. The first one crapped out on mean right around the six month mark. It would just randomly turn off without cause. TMobile replace it and now just abour 6 months into the second one problems are again arising. I am constantly having to reset the phone to get service, the touch screen seems to be stuck more often that not and the internet has slowed to a crawl. Look elsewhere for a new phone.

I bought this phone as an upgrade on my plan. At the time, I got it for $27- which was a steal.
Quality
It is well put together with a case that is rubberized plastic.
Simplicity
The button layout is simple with only 4 buttons on the face, plus the power and volume buttons on the side. The screen is easy to figure out.
Operating system
The phone uses google's android system, which is great and allows you to sync your google account with your phone, which is a great feature for importing your contacts. You also get the benefit of google's android market (which is similar to the apple app store).
Hardware feature
Another thing that I really love about this phone is that you can set it up to be a wireless hotspot, which is better than tethering your phone to your computer via USB.
Battery
I go all day without having to charge, even when I use the internet and navigation. The only time I have power issues is when I sit around playing games for extended periods of time, and even then, I can still make it through the day.
Data entry
I had really wanted another phone with a slide out keyboard, but I ultimately made the sacrifice and went with this phone instead. I am getting used to typing on a touch keyboard, though I still prefer the real thing. I also like the swipe feature where you swipe your finger over all the letters in a word and the phone recognizes the pattern.

Learn More Swype Keyboard
An alternative to the Android virtual keyboard, the Swype virtual keyboard (seen at the right) allows you to input text by swiping the finger with one continuous finger or stylus motion across the screen keyboard. Based on testing, speed and accuracy are equal to or better than the traditional keyboard-tapping method. (More customer reviews)I've been a Blackberry person for years and finally caved in and purchased this so I could finally have 3G (which put my non-3G Blackberry's to shame). T-Mo is a little behind the times and is now finally catching up with cool phones and more 3G, and this phone is a really good start to a future of great phones from them. I personally love it.
First of all, this phone is sleek. The styling is really nice and sexy. It could use a chrome band but that is just me being picky. Even the charger is cool (except the darn blue light is horrid at night--I had to put tape over it so I could sleep!).
Second, this phone is feature-rich and easy to use. Blackberries are a nightmare to do anything on (especially change the blasted ring-tones). This phone however, is a cinch to do everything. The menus are user friendly and simple.
This phone is fast. It does bog down at times but can be fixed with the free app "task killer free edition". Everything loads fast and runs smoothly. I downloaded about 7 things at once while listening to a song and playing a game. This phone is a pro at multi-tasking.
This phone is fun. I love the fact that Google Android allows ad's on their apps so the majority can be free. Some may hate the ad's but those people can buy the ad-less versions for a fee and those cheap people like myself will deal with the banner ad. It is brilliance. The app store is not as good at Apple's but is darn close. It definitely puts BB app store to shame. The beauty of the Android store is that you can buy an app, hate it and un-install it within 24 hours for a FULL refund!! WOW!
This phone is the best T-Mobile has, though not the best out there. It really is a good value too considering all the great apps and the fact that TMO has low prices in comparison to ATT and VZ. Make sure to purchase this phone WITHOUT a contract and pay for monthly installments on the phone with the even more plus plans. It will pay for itself in the 14th month and begin to save you $20 per month after that because the even more plus plans are much cheaper than the even more ones.

Again, Even More Plus plans are $20 for the internet and $10 less for each anytime minutes tier, Even more are $30 and $10 MORE. You will save $20 per month by not signing a contract and paying full price for the phone by signing up for even more PLUS plans. Do your calculations and realize it will be cheaper to pay full price in the long run and begin to save you hundreds (they even have a monthly installment plan for their phones). GOOD LUCK ON PHONE SHOPPING!!

Tips and Tricks
Customizing Widget Bar Widgets allow quick access to applications that you use often. You can drag the widgets to the Home screen and drag widgets you do not want back to the Widget bar. Touch the folder tab on the left-hand side of the screen to open the Widget Bar; touch it again to close. To choose what applications appear on the Widget Bar, touch Menu > Settings > Widget Manager. Touch the box beside the desired widgets to place a checkmark; "uncheck" the unwanted widgets.

Using The Magnifier In The Phonebook Touch on the Phonebook icon on the Main screen. Drag the Magnifi er along the side of the screen to scroll through the letters of the alphabet. Release when the desired letter is reached. This allows you to easily locate a contact.

Increasing The Size Of A Web Page While in the Browser mode, increase the size of the web page by using the Volume key.

Camera Shortcuts Press the button with the camera icon on the right side phone. Aim and take the picture using the same button (top side if you're holding the camera horizontally). To use the camera's 3x digital zoom feature, press the volume control buttons to zoom in or out, then snap your photo.

I am a long-term Blackberry user that uses his phone mostly for business but also for managing personal accounts. For several years, I have used Blackberry to handle my messaging demands including two (2) exchange accounts and four (4) personal accounts. I had been waiting to move to phone that could smartly handle these needs, and I have found it with the HTC Sensation. I bought this phone early and have been using it since 6/10/2011.
Email / Exchange Capabilities
HTC has customized the email application, and it is smooth, elegant, and fast. I had no problems configuring my Exchange, MSFT Live, and various POP accounts with the phone. The Sensation quickly synced all my accounts with ease. The Exchange integration is exceptional: you get push email, push calendar, and push contacts integration.
HTC also features a flexible presentation model where it unifies your emails into a single box and color codes the email by account received. You can also use a dropdown menu and select to view a single mailbox at a time. This mail implementation is better than anything offer with the BB, and more robust than the messaging application on the iPhone.
When you receive an email, you will get a notification through Android's notification menu AND and LED indicator will flash. BB's universal implementation of a notification light is a simple yet necessary function for me, and I am glad that HTC has decided to include a notification light. It is not as bright as the one found in my BB, but it does the job.
I don't use gmail, but interestingly, that is managed by a separate Google provided email program.
Contacts Integration
HTC has again included its Contact management application instead of the Android stock, and it is an elegant solution. One of the benefits of their application is that it will link duplicate entries into a unified contact account. So, if you have someone listed in your Exchange, POP, social networking address book, it will allow you to link these into a single contact entry to simplify your contact list. It's a great feature and helps you organize everything.
Push Calendar
No issues with it. I believe that the included application looks great and has no problems syncing with Exchange.
Build
This phone has exceptional build quality. It is made of aluminum and plastic and feels great in your hands. Not only the phone comfortable to hold, but it feels heavy. I like a heavy phone: it speaks to the quality of the build materials and does not feel like it will break apart with use.
The main navigation buttons are virtual, haptic buttons located at the bottom of the phone. The one issue with these virtual buttons, is that sometimes I accidentally trigger the "back" button when I intend to depress the space key. This is not a major issue, and one that with practice you begin to avoid.
The power/wake up button is on the top of the phone. It is responsive and has proper travel and response. The only other physical buttons are the volume rocker on the left of the phone. The one thing I miss is a dedicated physical camera button. Instead, you have to trigger the application through the menu system and then use the virtual shutter button on the screen. Again, I wish there was a physical camera button, but it's not a deal killer.
Phone Audio
Phone calls are loud and crisp, and the large ear grill allows you to hear calls very well. Callers commented that they had no problems hearing me as well. When this phone makes a call through Wifi, the call quality increases even more and the voice quality becomes even more outstanding.

The speaker is on the bottom of the phone; so, if you turn the phone over, the volume picks up. My Blackberry has the advantage of having the speaker on the top of the phone; so, this phone flip is not necessary.
Keyboard
The other important departure from the Blackberry was the physical keyboard. I was very skeptical and had not been impressed by other Android based keyboard's such as the one on the Galaxy S. HTC has implemented two custom input methods. Its keyboard substitute works very well and functions like the excellent keyboards found in Windows 7 Phone phones. The large screen also minimizes errors. HTC has also implemented its own version of a Swipe keyboard. It works fine, but I prefer the HTC keyboard. Coming from the Blackberry physical keyboard, I am actually faster with the HTC virtual keyboard, which was my biggest surprise when using this phone!
Android Wifi Calling
I relied on Blackberry and T-Mobile's UMA implementation. This allowed me to get perfect service from my home, receive signals at work, and make calls when traveling internationally. T-Mobile has integrated its version of UMA calling the HTC Sensation. It works just as well at the Blackberry's UMA implementation. Once you active the feature, it signs-in seamlessly with WiFi networks without further intervention. This is such a huge feature that T-Mobile should aggressively advertise, since it allows you to place calls in locations where no phone can receive cellular signals.
Conclusion
In short, buy this phone. It's fast, well-built and packed with a great package of software features that make it perfect for business and pleasure.

The best part is that it's fully compatible with the webOS ecosystem, including the HP TouchPad and all the already-available Palm Pixi apps. This is a great phone, even for power users. The magnetic headphone connector is a little strange, but maybe it's time to get a nice set of bluetooth headphones anyway.

(More customer reviews)In sum: If you want coverage independent navigation or T-Mobile 3G, you may consider this phone, but you must live with Windows Mobile and the most non-standard headphone jack imaginable. Pros:
1. Offers T-Mobile 3G on my grandfathered plan, though the coverage is spotty.
2. Nice screen--480x800. Feels good in hand. Nice form factor.
3. Decent sound in speakers after load Pocket Player. Sounds poor with Windows Mobile player.
4. Includes Opera 9.5 browser.
5. Sbp interface included. Quite glossy and graphical interface overlay. But takes work to set up and is flakey at times.
6. Some nice third party software can improve matters, such as Pocket Player, which has better sound and a resume function for audio books. Kinoma also is good and includes Audible integration.
7. The Pharos navigation software has ugly and dated graphics but does include turn by turn directions, and is not dependent on the wireless connection. A 2 gb navigation card in included, but this can be transferred to a card with more more memory. The gps was not as sensitive as advertised, but not too bad--it did pick up a signal in my tree lined street.
8. Is said to be able to be used as a modem. Haven't tried this yet.
Cons:
1. The most non-standard USB headphone jack I could imagine. I thought, at least, I could use HTC or Motorola Razr headphones or jacks. No. HTC jacks will not fit in the phone, and the Motorola USB jacks yield no sound. This is quite an outrage.
2. A close second for bad--Windows Mobile. The level of frustration which this OS presents is incredible at this stage in mobile development. It takes days to try to set up the phone to work in some reasonable way. The OS is slow and the stock programs are poor. The browser is bad--Opera is much better. The Media Player is horrible--the sound, compability and functionality. It will hardly play any videos. The freeze ups are common--many times per day with constant use.
3. A close third for terrible--the keyboard implementation. The biggest problem--if you touch the on-screen keyboard even a millisecond too long, you get multiple character entries. After using the iPhone, this is very annoying. Also, although it includes a nice sbp keyboard, it pops up inconsistently.
4. The touch screen functionality is poor; it is either too sensitive (selecting what you don't want) or not sensitive enough.
5. The accelerometer is flakey, being delayed in switching between landscape and portrait or flashing back and forth.
6. The jury is still out, but battery life seems very poor.
7. Many programs don't work--Mobipocket for books (a shame with the big screen); the divx player; and many others I tried to load.

First I'll talk about the phone hardware then the OS.
Hardware:
Very solid phone, beautiful and large screen and the feel of the device is very nice in the hands. The rubberized material on the back lets you hold the device without dropping it. Feels pretty light and really this is the size smartphones should be; the screen is absolutely perfect.
The power button I feel is a little small - it needs to be a little taller so its easier to push to power on, maybe its just the case I have it in now that makes it a little hard to push in.
Volume switches - I find I accidently push these quite often and it changes the volume. While it's great they are available we should have an option to lock the volume rocker/buttons so they dont constantly keep changing the volume.
Camera button - very nice and allows you to quickly take photos with a single click!! The camera does have an issue where it makes whites look pink - there is supposedly a fix coming from htc to address this; appaerantly this same bug was in the htc hd2 and htc fixed that; this is a problem with htc's driver not with windows phone 7. The dual led flash on this device is fantastic and allows you to take nice bright photos at 5 megapixel - obviously not the best camera in the world at 5mp but for a cell phone its really good. HTC throws in a nice flashlight app that they make which allows you to use the dual leds as a flashlight anytime you want - its really really bright - in a pitch black room it lights the entire room up - crazy cool!
Soft buttons - the buttons on the bottom of the screen - back, windows and search work great and are very responsive - touch them and easily take you back to the main screen, go back in an application or launch the search applications. Many times if you accidentally press these buttons while in a game you can easily drag your finger away and it wont kill the game and take you out of it - very nice feature so you dont accidentally keep quitting an app/game.
The speakers on this device are pretty good; I havent had any problem at all with these speakers and they are quite loud when listening to music, playing games or on the speakerphone with someone else. The clarity is pretty good too.
The sound quality on the device is excellent when taking calls; recipients have no problem hearing you either.
Call quality/signal - no problems at all with this phone; havent had a single dropped call when using this phone, you can easily switch to speaker phone at anytime by tapping on the screen and choosing the speakerphone option - switching is instant and smooth.
Battery life - I easily get one and 1/2 days usage out of this even with wifi and 3g on. Very good phone even if you are very busy and need to do some browsing, emailing and taking calls. Recharging the phone is pretty quick too whether you plugin to the wall or your computer. The plug is a standard micro? usb plug. It comes with an adapter that allows you to plug the standard usb end into a wall socket to get AC power too - very nice design.Software:
The new Windows Phone 7 OS is very fluid, slick and responsive - no slow downs at all and smooth all the way through. Very easy to understand and use. You simply swipe down and up to choose any application you want. Need something on the 'homescreen' simply tap and hold it - whether its a contact from your address book, an app, or a game you can easily organize and choose whatever you want to be on the front.
Swipe to the right and you have the entire list of all applications installed. All games are organized in the xbox live section so there is no clutter. The operating system was very well thought out and organized and is not a mess of static icons found on other smartphones.
Live tiles are excellent - when the weather upates - it shows you the temperature and the conditiosn outside (snowing, rain, sunny, cloudy, fog, etc). It shows you the day and month, time obviously, how many emails you have, how many voice messages you have, how many missed phone calls. You don't need to keep pressing deep down to find this information - its all right there on the main screen. If you want to pull the phone out of your pocket and glance down you can do that too right on the lock screen - it shows all of that information there too. Beautiful and efficient; no fiddling all day with your phone unless you really want to.
Over 4000 applications are now available in the marketplace, many of the games available are xbox live compatible - full gamerscore, achievements, buddy lists, invites, sending/receiving messages all built right in. These games are not cheap ports from other smartphone os's - these are all highly polished and unique games built from the ground up for Windows Phone 7. You have alot of great games like assassins creed, need for speed, deblob, frogger, guitar hero, hexic, max and the magic marker, project sunburst (crackdown), puzzle quest 2, the harvest, sims 3, uno. A ton of great indie games too like - birdy bounce (like doodle jump), impossible shoota, unite. There are many more games and applications. You have great applications like Netflix - you can watch full movies from your instant queue, add items to your queue. AP Mobile - read about news events from around the world, ebay - see your auctions, bid on items, manage you account, flixster - see what movies are happening in your area, showtimes, locations, top movies, news. Built in youtube app that lets you watch youtube movies.
The built in applications like Office let you view/edit ord documents, view/edit excel documents, view powerpoint presentations, view/edit onenote, outlook - view your email from multiple providers - hotmail, google, yahoo, any email provider - very intuitive and easy to use interface. Internet Explorer - optimized and is a really good browser now; pinch to zoom and scrolling in internet explorer works perfectly, loading pages is excellent and fast - no real faults at all with the new internet explorer. Music/Videos player is basically the zune interface - beautiful; manages all your videos and music here and if you have a zune pass you can listen to your music from right here - this works in the background too and you can play games and surf the web using this application in the background.With so much good, what can be bad?
- No multitasking for third party apps - we need the ability to multi-task and choose what we want running in the background. Some apps really do need multitasking.
- Copy/paste - this is a minor issue but it can come in handy when copying things from a webpage/word and emailing it to others - this is being added in a January OS update from Microsoft.
- HTML 5 support - currently internet explorer does not support html5; this really needs to be worked on immediately - supposedly an update in august will add html5 - too slow it needs to be added in asap.
- Documents - need the ability to drop documents directly from zune software and sync with office mobile.
- Camera - htc needs to fix the color problems with this camera; they fixed it in the htc hd2 so it shouldnt be a problem fixing it in the htc hd7.Hands down this is one of the best initial Windows Phone 7 devices out there; this is nothing new from htc - they make really exceptional hardware for Microsoft's operating systems. I hope to purchase the next HTC phone they make with Windows Phone 7 down the road ;)

(More customer reviews)The Battery in my old phone died; I was eligible for an upgrade. I was holding off on upgrading until the G2 was released in May but I called T-mobile and here is what they did:
Instead of replacing the battery in my Motorola Rizr, they offered me a free device to hold me over until I wanted to use my upgrade for the G2. So not only did I get a free G1, they also let me keep my upgrade so that when the G2 is released, I get to use my upgrade for that. hahah how great is that? On top of that, I asked them if I needed to return the G1 when I got my G2. She said no and that I could keep it. This is why T-mobile is awesome. Seniority with them takes you a long way. ok onto the device.....
(There aren't many bad things to say about it so I'll get those out first)
THE CONS
-No video camera?
Eh? I could be wrong but I cant find it.How can Youtube be a feature of the phone, but the phone NOT have a video camera to record movies? Just seems silly to me.
-A little bulky
But not too bad like I was thinking (I think this is because of the keyboard which the G2 will not have btw)
-Camera not so good
Only 3 megapixels? C'mon now! We can do better than that.

They are pretty much the only websites i ever use on my computer at home anyways. Having them "specially featured" on my handheld makes me a happy camper.
-The Android Market
Brilliant. absolutely amazing concept. Endless applications. Anyone can put something on the market so there is also junk to weed through! Which is expected. But I personally like the liberal approach to it. This place pretty much lets you create/upload/share all kinds of cool programs for your device. This "transormability" or personalization technique is what makes the Android network so great. It allows you to turn your device into the handheld of your dreams. How can you wrong with unlimited options? that means endless options for your phone. Not any one person's G1 is like anyone others. That idea is just amazing.
-Love the touch screen/phsical keyboard option
This is awesome that you have that option. I have to have a keyboard but at the same time, there are times when touchscreen is more practical. So bravo to them for giving us both options.
-EXTREMELY User Friendly: I'm THAT guy that reads the instruction book front to back. Not with the G1. I was actively surfing the net, emailing, watching videos, and texting probably within minutes the battery was fully charged. Which is another good thing. This thing gives you a percentage bar on the front and it charges very quick!
- Battery Life A+
A fully charged battery will last 12 hours if your using the phone NON-STOP (this includes using internet, emailing, texting, talking, camera) Thats pretty impressive if you ask me. How do I know? I actually put the phone to the test!
- Sync'ing capabilities
You can connect this thing to just about anything! I love how you can connect to your own wireless connection in your house. Makes surfing the web even faster than the phone naturally can!
Youtube and google are dominating the web. They are now dominating the cell phone world. This is an A+ device. I rarely use my PC now. No need. I'm extremely critical over my gadgets too btw but this device is flat out awesome.

Phone Features The T-Mobile G1's vibrant, high-quality screen slides open to reveal a full QWERTY keyboard, great for communicating with friends online or using the phone's e-mail, IM and mobile messaging capabilities. As another option for accessing the device, the T-Mobile G1 comes equipped with a convenient trackball for more precise, one-handed navigation. The 3.2-inch touchscreen has a 320 x 480-pixel resolution and a 65K color depth. Frequently Asked Questions Q: Do you have to have a Google account to use T-Mobile G1? A: Yes, customers must log into the phone using a Google account login when they first use the device. Once you do log into T-Mobile G1 using a Google account, your Gmail and Google Calendar will all sync to your phone providing secure, up-to-date access to your personal information. If you don't already have an account, the startup process will walk you through creating one. Creating a Google account is free.
Q: Do customers need a voice and/or data plan to use T-Mobile G1? A: Yes, when you purchase T-Mobile G1, you must add one of two T-Mobile G1-specific data plans to their account. This is similar to other all-in-one devices we offer like the T-Mobile Sidekick or the T-Mobile Shadow. Customers must also have a voice plan.
Q: Is the G1 compatible with your HotSpot @Home service? A: No. Unlimited HotSpot Calling (formerly named T-Mobile HotSpot @Home) is not included in the T-Mobile G1, although the device can browse the Web over high-speed wireless connections including Wi-Fi and our 3G network.
Q: Are there any advantages to using Gmail on the device versus another type of personal (POP3 or IMAP) account? A: Yes. After first logging into their Google account, you will have all your Gmail, Google Contacts, Calendar and Talk data automatically synchronize with the phone. Anything you do on the phone with these products will seconds later become available on the computer and vice versa. If you were to ever lose their phone, their information will still be available and seamlessly synchronize with a replacement G1. You will also benefit from push e-mail and calendar alerts (this is also available for the multi-headed e-mail client). Finally, Gmail's contacts are synchronized automatically with the phone's contact list.
Q: What is the "search from everywhere" feature? A: "Search from everywhere" provides customers the ability to do contextual searches. T-Mobile G1 has a hard key on the QWERTY keyboard that you can touch in order to start a search within any application you are in. For example, if you are in your contact list and hit the search key, the device will search your contact list. If you are in your e-mail and you hit the search key, the device will search your e-mail. You can also start a search within each application through a search option within the application.
