Over the years I have had a number of smartphones, for each one I have used the invisible shield by zagg (IS). After deciding to purchase the HTC Arrive I kept watching for zagg to release a screen protecter for it. After the device hit the streets and still no sign of the IS, and responses from Zagg saying they didn't know if they would even make one for it, I decided to pick up the Skinomi TechSkin.
Installation was a breeze. A few things to make installation easier...
I always try to wait to take the factory stickers off until I am ready to install the new protector. In this case I had to wait a week to play with my new phone because USPS was incredibly slow for some reason. If you couldn't wait, pick up a microfiber cloth and an air duster and try to clean your screen as best you can. Both of these items would be handy to have around even if you still have the factory stickers on.
Create a clean work area and have someone on hand to spray for you. Have your helper grab some paper towels to help absorb any of the extra liquid that you are going to squeege out once you have the skin in place. Don't use these until you have the skin down or you will be spending alot of time trying to remove fibers.
****IMPORTANT>>>>> There is a small cutout (notch) in the skin, at first I had no idea what this was for and thought it was a mistake. It turns out there are 2 small sensors (proximity and light?) ON THE TOP OF THE PHONE. This cutout keeps them from being covered by the skin. Kudos to Skinomi for thinking of this. Anyway, make sure you place this notch on top of the phone as it would probably fit either way. There was nothing in the directions about this, it would have been nice if they would throw in a small piece of paper or something showing you the proper oreintation.
Once you have all this taken care of, just follow the directions. Make sure you spray your fingers really well, then peel the skin. Doing it in this order will avoid fingerprints. Spray (have your helper do this while you hold it) the skin really well and apply, pull it back up if you don't get it aligned perfectly the first time. Just keep your fingers wet, this is where the helper comes in handy.
Now that I have had it on for a few days, I have to say that I am really happy with it. To me it feels about the same as the IS but it is less noticable visually. Even with the screen off it is really hard to tell it is there. With the IS I could see it. The tactile feel seems to work really well with the capacitive touch screen. It requires much less force on the screen compared to the resistive screen I had on my last phone. When you don't have to push so hard, your finger seems to glide easily across the screen. I would go as far as to say that it is just as responsive as the bare glass. The capacative buttons seem to work very well too.
I would say that I am now a Skinomi convert. I will be oredering from them for all of my devices in the future and recommending them to my friends.
