(More customer reviews)I noticed that some of the problems people are reporting on other reviews here are things easily corrected if you read the user manual and change a few settings on the phone. The default settings on the phone do indeed suck, but the phone is great once you change it to how you want.
That being said, I love this phone! It should be noted, however, that I don't care for all the bells and whistles. I don't care to have a camera, and admittedly the camera on this is sub-par. I also don't care to have the internet, or speakerphone, etc., and the music player is just a fortunate plus. However, if you're looking for a simple phone with an easy to use interface that will allow you to make phone calls and text easily, then this phone is great. Battery life is great! I will agree that the plug for the charger is a little annoying...it's tiny and needs to be inserted just so.
Honestly, I think if you want a phone that "does it all" and does it all fantastically, you're going to pay a pretty penny for it, and that's just how it is. This isn't a bad phone by any means, but remember, you get what you pay for. If you want all the bells and whistles, this isn't the phone for you.

(More customer reviews)I bought this phone in China early March 2006. It was just on market for a week or so. I intended to buy a Microsoft Smartphone kind of device, but came upon this phone. The things that attracted me was the near perfect finish (black version only, feel like the early IBM Thinkpad T23 skin-like touch), the fast response, large screen, transparent screen cover and a unique feature: Business Card Reader(BCR).
The BCR take a snapshot of a business card, automatically recognize the information and input into contact list. The character recognition is not 100% if the business card design is too fancy. If the card is standard, with regular characters, the recognition result will be very accurate. It saves lots of time when you finish the job in a long day and rest in hotel room. Remember, you have to set the lens switch to Macro position, otherwise the card photo it takes will be blury and recognition is impossible. The switch is above the lens, very easy to miss.
Other features include the radio, recorder, bluetooth, Real Player, voice command, notes, 2.0 MP camera and camcorder.
Writing recognition is also very accurate. I write in Chinese and English. Both are very easy to use. Overall, the software are great.
It comes with other features such as getting online but I don't use them. You can add Transflash card inside. As of May 2006, the largest card size is 512MB for $70.
I don't think I digged all the goodies out, still in the fun process learning how to use it more wisely. Overall, it is a great phone, better than any other phone I ever used.

Design The first thing you'll notice about the Ming is that its design is definitely groundbreaking. Samsung Behold t919 Phone, Brushed Espresso (T-Mobile) Review

But there are some very frustrating things about this phone that I think a lot of people are failing to mention. Maybe the people that have given reviews thus far haven't had the phone for long, but I find it very hard to believe the fact that no one talks about technicalities of the phone. Also, I don't like the whole "--/5" stars thing, so I'm doing my own scoring system, and breaking it down--how a review should be.
PRICE--6/10
Ok, everyone knows that phones are cheap when you purchase a two year contract. But what about users who already have T-mobile and want a new phone? For you, the phone will probably cost about $368.00 plus tax. No, not $400, but T-mobile might tell you how you get a partial discount. What that might NOT tell you, however, is that the partial discount means you are agreeing to renew your contract for another two years. I don't think $368 plus tax is too bad of a deal, I'm willing to pay that. However, when two companis (T-mobile and Samsung) both have steep claims, I expect those claims to be met with likewise results. See more about what I mean as I review the rest of the phone.
LOOK AND FEEL--9/10
This is one of the greatest selling points of the phone. I really like the phone as soon as I picked it up, simply for it's look and feel. It's small, sleek, smooth, but has a very nice weigh that makes it seems like you're actually holding something that will last a while. It has a brushed metal backing that looks really nice, and it's a great fit in any pocket. I've been a Sidekick owner since the Sidekick 2, and the biggest reason I purchased a new phone was to have something smaller. I work in business as well, and a big chunky Sidekick doesn't look professional.
INTERFACE/NAVIGATION--6/10
This aspect of the phone is kind of on a fence. Overall, the interface is really cool, and super fun. However, when you NEED to send a text, when you REALLY need to access a web page, the phone can be extremely irritating. For a female with small fingers, or anyone with longer nails, perhaps this may not be an issue for you.
1) Despite the fact that you can enter text with either a vertical numeric pad (usually T9) OR a horizontal "full" touch/QWERTY key pad is a really good idea. Naturally, I choose the QWERTY over the numeric pad almost every time. But, there are some really, really annoying design flaws on the pad. Mostly, because the QWERTY is a touch, it's difficult to design it to be able to make shift+ options available. So, when you need to enter additional text, such as numbers, and different punctuations, you actually have to press a button in the corner of the phone, which selects an entirely different keypad of multiple characters; including, numbers 0-9, ",', etc... This can be really frustrating when you just want to enter something like the number "1"
2) The space bar is not centered on the QWERTY keypad. When trying to hit the space bar with your right thumb, you will hit the "?" character if you're not careful, often resulting in sentences?like?this.
3) When entering a password into a website block, you can only use the numeric keypad. This is REALLY frustrating to me, because this forces you to turn off the CAPS button, AND turn off the T9 if you want to use freestyle input. Most of my passwords do not begin with a capital letter, and none them can I use T9 on. If I could just use the QWERTY like with everything else, I would be happy.
Other than these few issues, navigation isn't too bad. The touch screen is actually pretty decent and responsive. However, those crucial flaws, when entering text, make me feel that the phone deserves no more than 6 out of 10.CALL QUALITY--10/10
This part is simple. All calls made were heard very well on both ends, and the speaker phone is very loud and works very well. I don't think it's fair to judge the phone based on network problems such as dropped calls, but I've had only one dropped call with the phone, which is pretty normal.
CAMERA/MEDIA--10/10
A pleasant surpise on the phone. Picture quality is very good, at least for a camera phone. Also, the phone features some really cool shooting and filming modes. My favorite, the panoramic, automatically shows you where to point the camera, and stiches 6 photos together to make a panoramic photo. Forwarding the phone through emails also worked very well.
Music and Videos--both internet and taken through your phone--are heard very well. No complaints here.
WEB BROWSING--2/10
This is single handedly the most frustrating and disappointing aspect of the phone.
Bottom line, the phone uses a 3G network, costs $400 retail, and the rate plan from T-mobile is $25 or $35 a month. For all that, I expected lightning fast internet, and FULL HTML BROWSING CAPABILITY, just like both T-mobile and Samsung claims the phone to have. Well, after using the phone for only 30 minutes, I noticed that something strange was going on with the browser. If I never had a phone that had to use mobile browsing (aka WAP) I wouldn't have recognized it so quickly. The phone kept automatically reverting my URL requests to mobile versions of almost every website I went to. If the browser didn't switch me to a WAP url, then it chopped the page up into a single column.
At first, I was calm, and thought that surely Samsung had already, or was going to come out with a firware update. My sidekick THREE could view real pages, OR mobile pages, whichever I wanted. Even though they're only on a 2G speed phone, c'mon!
Now, that's not the worst part. I was so certain that it be fixed easily. The phone had no settings to change this. So the first thing I do is call t-mobile and tell them the problem. It took longer to explain to them my complaint than it did for them to tell me their answer. Basicially, there's nothing they could do.
Over the next few days, I contacted Samsungs mobile support. Let me preface this by saying they are awful, awful, AWFUL. They were rude, impersonable, and didn't show the least bit of concern about my needs. Through four phone calls, I got the same bit of useless information each time. Apparently, Samsung has no current software updates, and do not plan on making any in the future. Yes you heard that right, and yes that came directly from Samsung Supervisors mouthes.
This really makes me mad. The phone is everything I want except for the mobile browser. I was willing to overlook all the little stuff because I like it so much. However, I can't afford the unlimited data rate, and recieve ancient services. Needless to say, if it weren't for this, I wouldn't have returned the phone.
BATTERY LIFE--3/10
The battery will not last more than 8 hours if you plan on playing games, or using the internet. I wake up at 6am every day, after charging for almost 12 hours, the battery will not last until I get off work, which is 6pm. Well, actually, the battery retains enough enery to actually make the phone work, but from about 3 till when I got home and plugged the phone in, the phone vibrates for a total of 10 seconds, about every 3 minutes. This is extremely annoying, can not be turned off, and wastes even more battery! Very bad design.
In total, this comes out to about 6.6 out of 10. Pair that with how much I dug into the phone, and I don't think that's a good score.

(More customer reviews)What a fun little gadget.. I spend a lot of time Im'ing so needed to upgrade myself to a easier phone. the keyboard is great,keys have enough space between them so that my mashed one too many thumbs can still hit the right keys when i want to.
The camera, works very well lots of options for quality size and such, also works very well in video camera mode ( you get a 30 second clip with sound).
The pictures do not do justice to the phone the color is closer to an olive drab metallic.. very attractive and suitind for a phone named envy
A couple small things i do not like though the cover for the charging. port.. I know i am going to find some way to break it off, its a little pop out swing panel. Also I am having some problems keeping the rotating shutter door of the camera closed ans as stated previously it does want to slide out of my hands also.
Overall though I am very impressed with this phone If the Iphone is out of your price range I would definatly give this one a good look.

LG eXpo GW820 Windows Phone (AT&T) Review

(More customer reviews)My carrier is AT&T and I didn't want to go through the hassle to switch carriers so I stuck with AT&T, and I wanted to get a smartphone so my choices are basically iPhone, WinMo or Blackberry. I read some reviews and decided to pick the LG eXpo over the HTC Tilt 2 or other phones.
First Impression:
+ Cool looking phone, with a chrome-plated rim on the side,
+ Impressive specs, Quad-band, HSPDA/UMTS, Wi-Fi
+ has QWERTY keyboard, the keys are easy to press
+ Has dedicated button for access to task manager, by default set to the LG Task Manager, you can change it to the WinMo Task Manager or something else
- Takes a while to boot up, feels like 10 secs
- The touch screen takes a while to get used to, it's not bad, but not as responsive as iPhone
+ Fingerprint sensor doubles as scrolling control
+ dedicated volume buttons
o By default the "today" screen is set to the WinMo default screen, but LG also implemented it's own, so I switched to that one, which is an improvement over the WinMo apps in terms of finger-friendliness (the WinMo ones were mostly designed for stylus use).
- The contacts manager is unintuitive and hard to use. Functionality as simple as "jump to contacts that start with C" is lacking.
- The task manager: has screen shots for the opened applications, but the close buttons are too small
After playing with the phone a bit more:
- Fingerprint sensor is cool, but don't be surprised if it takes more than a few swipes to recognize your fingerprint, you have to swipe slowly. Also, it traps dust.
o Camera is 5MP, but quality is so-so
o No dropped calls yet, but I haven't seen the reception bar reach full yet.
- Loaded with tons of trial software that I can't get rid of (they're in the ROM, so unless you flash the ROM they'll be there forever)
- Internet Explorer is slow, so I replaced with Opera Mobile 10 beta, but some AT&T specific links now won't work (all those Media Net links)
- The LG (called LGIdle) shell is better than the WinMo default Today screen, but would be great if I could customize some of the buttons (e.g. replace IE with Opera and remove links to the trial software)
- Replaced the LG contact manager with iContact, which looks like the iPhone contact manager
- Looking into replacing the shell with PointUI (good) or SPB Home (best!)
- Some apps try to connect to the 3G network even when I have the WiFi connection
- Some apps (esp, WinMo Marketplace) tend to lock up when they're accessing the Internet and the phone become unresponsive.
Conclusion:
It's a cool phone but the software that comes with it out of the box is lacking and be prepared to spend time researching (and $$) to get some better apps.

Update #1:
- Specs: I neglected to mention that this phone has a 1Ghz processor, and 480x800 screen. So spec-by-spec the eXpo blows many of it's competitors out of the water (iPhone, Droid, HTC tilt 2). The actual experience is another question though.
- Touch screen sensitivity issues: it's usable, but since it has a resistive screen, you need to apply a little pressure. Compared to the iPhone which has a capacitive touch screen, the eXpo's touch screen definitely feels inferior. There are few if any phones running windows mobile with capacitive touch screens, the only one I know of is HTC HD2 which is yet to come to the US.
- Battery life is poor, I have to recharge every 2-3 days depending on usage.
- Apps. Again, out of the box it won't have many great apps.
* Some noteworthy mention: The LG calculator can do a little more than simple arithmetic (sin, cos, tan, exp, etc), the tip calculator is handy, the schedules/tasks app is more finger friendly than the default WinMo one.
* there's a lot of apps out there you can find on the internet, that problem is that they're scattered across different sites, many good ones aren't free and not all are finger-friendly. You need to spend time to try/research good ones.
* WinMo Marketplace still has room for improvement, many apps aren't up-to-date (e.g. Bing is 4.7 but latest is 5.0, Skyfire is 1.0 but latest is 1.5); also, it has to check for updates when it starts up, and often it hangs and causes the phone is become unresponsive for a while as well.
- I tried out the voice command functionality a couple of times. Usable, but not great, and it requires you to assign a button as the "voice command" button, the problem is there aren't many buttons that you can program (one for task manager and one for camera, the other 4 are on the slide-out keyboard)
- If you select to unlock the phone using your fingerprint sensor it means you won't be able to use the default WinMo locking screen (which has info like your upcoming appointments and missed calls, see image I uploaded), instead, you'll see the screen that instructs you to swipe your finger on the sensor

Update #2:
- (re. voice command in update #1) I realized that I don't need to assign a dedicated voice command button. The "back" button is used for that purpose. Press and hold the "back" button and voice command will be activated. The manual (which you need to download yourself) mentions that.
- Also, press and hold the "end call" button to lock the phone.
- it seems that the LG in-call menus is not integrated well into WinMo or the lock screen. If you use the fingerprint lock screen and receive a call when the phone is locked, you can receive the call but you won't see the in-call menu (buttons like hold,speaker, end call, etc). Also, if you use the WinMo lock screen and receive a call when the phone is locked, the WinMo UI for receiving calls show up instead of the LG one.

(More customer reviews)Once upon a time, I was a major iPhone fan. Like many others, I had grown tired of ho-hum smartphones and wanted something new and fresh. Initially, I loved my iPhone. There was simply nothing like it, with its beautiful touchscreen interface and great packaging. Best of all, I'd been assimilated into a fun "iPhone culture." Yeah, I guess in a way I'd even look down my nose at others who did not own one. ;p
But as time went by, my happy relationship began to sour. Don't get me wrong... as a MEDIA device, it was beyond compare. It STILL IS. But as a PRODUCTIVITY device, it STUNK: the virtual keyboard drove me bananas, the calendar was hardly usable for my purposes, and the constant dropped calls in south Florida were infuriating. As the months dragged on, I began to resent my phone and despise AT&T. There was a glimmer of hope when the Apple's App Store made its debut, but instead of productivity apps I needed, it was flooded with junk with no easy way to sift through all the noise to find the quality apps. Though I must admit I was DEFINITELY addicted to a game or two! ;)
I wanted a phone that could serve me well as both a PRODUCTIVITY and PERSONAL device. So when the Palm Pre came out, I took a deep breath and signed on with Sprint to get one on launch day (June 6th).
Put simply? .............. I.
LOVE.
THIS.
PHONE.When writing this review I made the assumption that you, the reader, already knows the Palm Pre's features. What I did was just jot down my real-world experiences with the Pre to illustrate how freaking AMAZING it is...
IT AIN'T PERFECT, THOUGH! I'll definitely address those issues (caution, I'm pretty blunt).------------------------- FIRST, THE THINGS I LOVE -------------------------
1) MULTITASKING:
When I read about multi-tasking on the Palm Pre, it looked cool. When I played with the mult-tasking feature in the Sprint store, I thought it was really cool. But when I LIVED with multi-tasking, I realized I would never own another phone that doesn't do this. It doesn't always work perfectly... sometimes there are issues with lag but once you learn which apps are resource hogs you get the hang of how to operate with it.
Here's some real-world examples of how I use multitasking...
"Day-to-day"
I consistently have email, texting, Twitter, phone, and Epocrates (medical app) open at all times while I'm working. No need to search for buttons or menus. Just flick and I'm there.
"The Drive"
A while back my boss drove me down to New Orleans. I SIMULTANEOUSLY............
- Ran turn-by-turn navigation with spoken street names (thru car speakers)
- Ran Pandora (also thru car speakers)
- Sent MMS messages to my folks
- Tracked my wife's flight to Puerto Rico in real-time, using FlightView
- Viewed a PowerPoint presentation
- Sent that powerpoint presentation via email to a colleague
"Ordering Pizza and a Movie"
Just the other day my wife called me from the road to ask where she could get a movie rental and pick up a pizza in her area. I SIMULTANEOUSLY..........
- Ran my Google maps which found the nearest Blockbuster and pizza place to her,
- Ran Flixster and read Rotten Tomato reviews of different movies
- Texted my wife back and forth with my recommendations.
"Email + Messaging"
I can have both my email and texting apps open, and copy/paste from one into the other
"No Wifi headaches"
Here's a big one! I can enable/disable Wi-Fi without leaving the web page I'm on or the email I'm trying to download. Just touch the top of the screen for the menu and I'm done!2) REAL KEYBOARD:
When Steve Jobs told me I'd get used to my virtual keyboard on my iPhone, I believed him... but after a year and a half of ownership, I came to this realization: nothing beats a real keyboard. I'm 6'3" and 200lbs, and while the Pre's keyboard is small, after a couple weeks I got very quick and accurate on it... MUCH faster than I ever did in all the time on my iPhone. It's worth mentioning that the a virtual keyboard has already been created for it, adding the convenience of BOTH. iPhone will always be stuck with just a virtual keyboard. There's also a homebrew app called "AutoCorrect Edit" that allows you to customize your autocorrect dictionary and make typing shortcuts. Killer.3) CALENDAR:
You can sync multiple calendars to the Pre, and view them all simultaneously if you want... Google, Facebook, Exchange, etc.... they're all there. In addition to my personal calendar and my wife's calendar, I keep track the schedules of no less than EIGHT physicians in my fellowship program... all on my phone! Best part is I can view them all together, manage them, and update them from my device and send them to all the fellows and faculty in my program OVER THE AIR.
Also, there's calendar app integration... From my phone, I can add a flight directly to my calendar from Flightview. Or a movie I just purchased tickets for. Or dinner reservations I made using Open Table. All without opening my calendar. Easy. I can't wait until more apps offer this kind of functionality...4) USB FLASH DRIVE ABILITY!
A couple weeks ago, I needed to email some documents and spreadsheets to my boss. My laptop had an erratic Wifi connection, so I was stuck. What did I do? I simply plugged my Pre into my computer via USB, dropped the files onto my phone, and emailed them to by boss using Sprint's network! Plain, freaking, AWESOME! This is not mentioned enough in the reviews I've read.
Another cool thing: who needs iTunes? With drag and drop, you can easily transfer music (with album art!) and videos back and forth on the Pre. Seriously. A monkey could do this.5) AMAZON MP3 MUSIC STORE!
Love this place! Almost as much variety as iTunes, which is good enough for me. You can preview and download all the songs you want! I do wish you could see the duration of songs as well as the full title (for remixes and such), but overall I'm smitten with it. Not only that, they often feature entire albums for DIRT cheap. Best of all, UNLIKE iTunes, you can do whatever the heck you like with your music, and it doesn't have to be converted to a proprietary format! Beautiful.(P.S. I realize that music sold on iTunes is now DRM-free, but I still resent the fact that a good number of songs that I BOUGHT are stuck on iTunes unless I "upgrade." Hogwash.)6) TOUCHSTONE WIRELESS CHARGER!
This is basically a hockey-puck device that you set your Pre onto and it charges it using a magnetic coil... no wires! This is particularly great at night right before I get into bed: rather than fumbling with wires and the Pre's (I'd like to smack the Palm engineers for that last one), all I do is just set my phone down on the charger. Easy. And I have a full charge in around 2 hours. The Touchstone does more than just charge my phone, though...
- If the Pre rings while on the charger and I press "TALK", it instantly goes to speakerphone.
- If I'm talking on the Pre and then set it down on the Touchstone, it instantly switches to speakerphone.
- If I want more privacy and take my phone OFF of the Touchstone during a conversation, it instantly switches speakerphone OFF. Nice.7) CAMERA:
Outdoor shots are amazing. Shutter has almost no lag. Although my iPhone used to take better pictures in low-light conditions, when there's NO light, the Pre has a flash... my iPhone did not.
*** UPDATE! 3/1/10... ***
With its 1.4 update, the Palm Pre now shoots VIDEO! You can also EDIT the video clip and send it via MMS/email, or even directly post it to Facebook or YouTube! This function works rather well, and video quality is not bad at all in good lighting conditions. Awesome! ... So video recording took Palm 8 months, and I didn't even have to buy a new phone. Compare that to Apple, who released video recording after TWO YEARS, and you had to buy a whole new phone?! Get outta here.8) NETWORK AND PRICING... DO YOUR RESEARCH!!!!
My wife and I are saving a ton of money with Sprint. I know coverage varies from city to city, but for me, Sprint's been great. In my opinion, AT&T cannot support the deluge of iPhone customers. All Sprint plans for the Palm Pre include UNLIMITED data, UNLIMITED texts, and TURN-BY-TURN GPS NAVIGATION! With AT&T, you have to pay out the nose for those kinds of goodies. I've owned every LG "V" series phone. I started with the LG 9800 V, then 9900 enV, 11000 Voyager, enV2.
I really believe this phone offers the perfect layout for a phone for people who love to text.
When the phone is closed. It is a phone. Big numbers and a display big enough to see what you need to see, but it doesn't try to do more. If you want more, open it up. Inside you have it all. The QWERTY board, great music player speakers, huge bright high res display. Photos look great, videos look good. My kids watch videos of cartoons on my phone.
It is clear that LG really interviewed previous owners of their phones.
The changes are more improvements than really "new" features. All that makes this phone that much better.
I'll compare it to the env2.
The enV3 is basically the same size as the enV2.
The improvements.
Better camera. Now 3.0 megapixel and an added flash.
The flash isn't super, but it is better than nothing.
There are some new options as well. Panoramic view shooting.
When you hit the camera button, it goes to the camera mode a lot quicker.
They also added a slideshow mode to the viewer.
When the phone is open, there are 5 key improvements
1) The QWERTY keyboard features a new layout. The space bar moved to the bottom middle
like a real keyboard. This is taking a while to get used to, but I will eventually.
2) There is a quick access text message button. I can't believe I lived without this, haha.
3) The display is quite a bit bigger inside. The image is brighter and high res.
4) The speakers play music really really loud, and way better quality. Not fantastic, but what do you expect.
5) They added a new quick contacts button. You can add 10 fav friends. It makes it that much easier to pull them up.When the phone is closed there are four great changes.
1) The display is a lot bigger. You can see pics and read text messages wayyyy better.
2) There is a joystick that replaces the old up/down toggle. Nice improvement.
3) No more pocket dialing. You can set the unlock to having to push the "OK" button twice.
4) There is a new "Contacts" button that makes it quicker to get to your address book.
Carry over features are great as well.
The navigation system from Verizon is top notch. I never rent a navi with my rental cars anymore. My phone is superior.
The visual voice mail is a must. You can now select which voice mail you wish to listen to. You no longer have to listen to all of your messages just to get to the last one. All voice messages show up on your display with the caller ID attached.
Oh, and always sign up for the "Back-up Assistant". This sends all of your numbers to your Verizon account on their web site. If you lose of destroy your phone, you can pull all of your valuable numbers and e-mail addresses back off the site. This app is priceless.

(More customer reviews)I wouldn't purchase from this consumer again. The phone wasn't new,as stated. In addition to that, the charger worked for roughly 2days. And because I was out of the country (Which was the purchase reason), i had to go without the use of the phone because their was no place that had the same charger or one to match. I notified the sailer and I was,informing them that i will keep the phone if I could just receive a another charger. Their reply was that i needed to return the defective item in its original package. Of course that was impossible because not only had I not retain the box and rapping it came in but I had taken the phone with me out of the country.Had I known that the charger would be defective, i would have kept the packaging. So, nonetheless, I am stuck with a phone that can't be charged. I think that instructions /info that the retailer should have made known, is the fact that all packaging should be retained for up to a certain period in order to be refunded or defective items to be replaced.

Excellent - one of the better phones for reception that I have had.
Speaker Phone
Good quality speaker phone and very simple to activate. Actually, have to be careful if holding the phone can accidentally activate the speaker phone very easily.
Texting
Texting is pretty simple but does take some getting used to. The clear button is on the bottom of the key pad area versus on top in most phones. Nothing a little practice can't overcome.
Battery Life
The standard battery is 2-3 days depending upon usage. I just received my extended battery and expect much better results.
Overall Design
I like it. I am a big fan of the flip phone. This design is a little nicer since you can just push the phone to the left. The only issue I could potentially see is if you are left handed. The way the phone is designed, it works best for right handers.

One thing I just accidentally found out is that the phone has an antenna. Shows you how observant I was when I bought it!!
Overall still very pleased with the phone. My wife especially likes it because the font is larger.

I would still rate this phone 5 stars however, last week I purchased the new Blackberry 8830. I am the type of person who likes a phone that can do pretty much everything and the 8830 fits my needs (push email, games, stable, nice form factor, etc. See my review whenever they decide to post a 8830 on amazon).
The 9400 is a good phone, excellent reception/talk time with extended battery and very good wow factor but the rotation is pretty much just a gimick. From a practicality standpoint it isn't the greatest form. Here is why. 1. The phone is really built for right handers. 2. To call someone you have to rotate the screen, dial and then flip it back. If you don't, you end up holding the phone at an awkward angle so that the speaker can be near your ear. Is this a big deal for me? No because I mainly use bluetooth headsets. That is why I left the rating at a 5.

When used in combination with the VX9400's built-in camera, MMS opens up a whole new world of messaging fun. There's also a built-in Web browser for downloads and mobile Web browsing. Verizon's optional Mobile Web 2.0 package allows you to read and send emails, exchange instant messages, and view your favorite Web content. You can check your email, trade stocks online, compare prices while shopping, access flight information, get movie listings, and find directions to the theater. T9 text entry, which is a technology that makes it easier for people to enter words and text on handsets, is built into the unit--a plus for mobile email and text messaging users.
With support for the EV-DO high-speed data standard, the VX9400 is fully compatible with Verizon's V Cast service. With V Cast, you can download and stream high-quality video. Need news and weather? ESPN sports updates, entertainment news from E!, and even Sesame Street content for the kids, are all available. A number of handy software tools are bundled with the VX9400 including a voice memo recorder, a calculator, a calendar, and an alarm clock.
If needed, the VX9400 can be used as a wireless modem for laptops and PDAs (additional Verizon data charges apply).
Imaging and EntertainmentThe phone's 1.3-megapixel camera features a flash, zoom options, and a host of automatic and manual camera functions that you'd expect from an advanced digital camera, such as a self-timer, multi-shot functions, white balance controls, and more. You can even choose the shutter sound to truly customize your phone. With the VX9400, you'll never have to worry about forgetting your digital camera again. The VX9400 can capture video, too, up to one hour with a 2 GB memory card.
For times when you really want to jam out, and really want to conserve battery life, the phone comes with a music-only mode, a feature that allows you to turn off the phone functions of the VX9400, but still maintain access to the music player.

The phone also sports an airplane/flight mode feature, which allows the user to safely use the non-wireless functions of a phone (such as music, games, or organizer functions) on an airplane during flight.
Vital StatisticsThe LG VX9400 weighs 4.06 ounces and measures 4.04 x 1.93 x 0.73 inches. Its lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 3.50 hours of digital talk time, and up to 300 hours of digital standby time. It runs on the CDMA 850/1900 frequencies, as well as the EV-DO and 1xRTT data frequencies. The phone comes with a one-year limited warranty.
Note: The LG VX9400 supports the following profiles: headset, hands-free, dial-up networking (SPP), file transfer, object push for vCard, basic printing, audio/video remote control, and Bluetooth stereo headset support for listening to music.
