LG Arena GT950 Phone (AT&T) Review

LG Arena GT950 Phone (ATandT)

First things first. The original LG Arena KM900 had Wifi. At&t, once again, has created a model specifically (GT950) to remove that feature. So if you want data, you're going to have to pay. Thanks AT&T.
Pros: Extremely beautiful screen, Flo TV works extremely well if you have decent reception, Good video performance (if you format the file correctly, multiple homescreens for different tasks. Built in FM transmitter.
Cons: Again no wifi, Screen is on the small side for an all touch phone (3 inches), If you've never used a virtual keyboard try in store first.
Besides the beautiful screen, there's really nothing to seperate this from any other feature phone on At&t's lineup. Overall the phone is solid, but doesn't really do anything spectacular.

LG enV VX9900 Phone, Green (Verizon Wireless, Phone Only, No Service) Review

What a fun little gadget.. I spend a lot of time Im'ing so needed to upgrade myself to a easier phone. the keyboard is great, keys have enough space between them so that my mashed one too many thumbs can still hit the right keys when i want to.
The camera, works very well lots of options for quality size and such, also works very well in video camera mode ( you get a 30 second clip with sound).
The pictures do not do justice to the phone the color is closer to an olive drab metallic.. very attractive and suitind for a phone named envy
A couple small things i do not like though the cover for the charging. port.. I know i am going to find some way to break it off, its a little pop out swing panel. Also I am having some problems keeping the rotating shutter door of the camera closed ans as stated previously it does want to slide out of my hands also.
Overall though I am very impressed with this phone If the Iphone is out of your price range I would definatly give this one a good look.

If you're looking for the ultimate in features and high-speed wireless broadband content, look no further than the feature-packed LG enV. Packed to the gills with the latest technology, the enV features a hidden QWERTY keypad, Bluetooth, a 2.0-megapixel camera, a microSD memory card slot (for memory expansion up to 4 GB), stereo speakers, an advanced MP3 player, and more. It's compatible with Verizon's V Cast Music Service, which enables you to purchase songs through your phone and download them via Verizon's fast EV-DO data network. Other Verizon service options include V Cast Video with clips from major networks, the VZ Navigator GPS turn-by-turn directions, BroadbandAccess Connect for using your phone as a modem to your laptop, and the Wireless Sync always-on email service.
Verizon Service Options With support for the EV-DO high-speed data standard, you'll enjoy fast access to the Internet and Verizon's multimedia services (additional charges applicable), with average download speeds ranging from 400 to 700 Kbps and peak rates up to 2 Mbps. (Learn more about where EV-DO coverage is offered.) The V Cast Music service enables you to download songs instantly to your phone, or purchase music through your PC and transfer the files to your phone. If purchased from your phone, you'll receive two copies of the song: a Windows Media Audio Pro Plus format at 64Kbps stereo is sent to your phone, and a Windows Media Audio 9 format at 160Kbps stereo is sent to your account in the V CAST Music online store for downloading to your PC. V Cast Music offers nearly 2 million songs, with more being added all the time.
The V Cast Video service enables you to stream or download video clips to your phone from a variety of news, entertainment, sports, and weather channels, including CNN, ABC News, E!, CBS Sports, The Weather Channel, and VH1.
Getting on the Internet is easy using Verizon's Mobile Web 2.0 package, which allows you to read and send e-mails, exchange instant messages and view your favorite web content on your phone. Verizon's Get It Now wireless download service is also fully compatible with this phone. This pay-per-download service features application downloads, games and productivity tools. You can also personalize your handset with ringtone downloads using the Get It Now service.
With this GPS-enabled phone, you'll be able to access Verizon's VZ Navigator service (additional charges applicable) for voice-prompted turn-by-turn directions, heads-up alerts, local search of nearly 14 million points of interest in the US (such as landmarks, restaurants and ATMs), and detailed color maps. And Verizon's Chaperone service lets you easily locate your loved ones from your Verizon Wireless phone or PC in real time. After defining a zone, such as an area designating a school or summer camp, you'll be sent an alert via text message when the Chaperone handset enters or leaves the zone.

With BroadbandAccess Connect (subscription required), you can use your smartphone as a modem for your notebook when you connect the two using a USB cable--or open a Bluetooth connection--enabling you to access the Internet or your company intranet. The tethered modem capability is ideal when you're traveling and need to use your notebook to check email, access corporate networks, or download large files like presentations and reports. And with BroadbandAccess Connect, you won't have to buy an extra PC Card or other devices.
Verizon's Wireless Sync always-on email service (subscription required), you can stay connected and get the job done while away from the office--without a delay and in a secure environment. Email is delivered to your device in real time across the National Enhanced Services Rate & Coverage Area, and you get the ability to forward large attachments via email as well as access both your personal and corporate emails on one device. Wireless Sync offers strong security with AES encryption (Advanced Encryption Standard) technology so that unauthorized parties cannot access or alter application data transmitted over wireless networks.
Phone Features The front of the enV features a large, 65,000-color screen with 128 x 160 pixel resolution and a standard dialpad complete with a five-way control button. Flip open the horizontal clamshell, though, and you're presented with a crystal-clear, 240 x 320, 262,000-color landscape display and a full QWERTY keyboard. Dialing function buttons are also duplicated on the internal touchpad. A pair of stereo speakers reside on either side of the display, and a microSD card slot is provided on the side of the device for additional memory expansion. There's a standard jack to accept universal hands-free headsets, while the rear of the device houses the 2.0-megapixel camera. Lastly, an internal antenna keeps the enV sleek and compact, and the provided USB data port ensures convenient connectivity.
The enV's built-in address book can store up to 1000 contacts for quick and easy management of phone numbers and e-mail addresses. The phone comes with built-in polyphonic ringtones plus a vibrating alert. More ringtones can be downloaded via Verizon's Get It Now service. The phone lets you match pictures with callers to identify them, and the enV's voice recognition software supports voice commands from any user, not just a pre-programmed user's voice. What's more, many of the phone's functions can be controlled by the sound of your voice, thanks to advanced voice recognition technology. Text-to-speech technology enables the enV to read emails and text messages to you, if you so desire. A powerful speakerphone unit means you can easily talk hands-free, while Bluetooth allows you to use your favorite wireless headset.
While the enV is a great platform for watching V Cast video content, it can also capture video that can be shared with your friends and associates via video messaging. The video unit records in MPEG4 format and can capture clips up to 15 seconds in length. Of course, you can also use the camera to capture still pictures, too. In addition to megapixel resolution (1280 x 960), the camera features an LED flash, macro and night modes, a self-timer, and brightness and white balance controls.
The enV has all the bases covered when it comes to messaging, too, with support for sending and receiving text, picture, and video messages. There's also a complete e-mail client on the device for POP- and IMAP-based accounts. And of course, the QWERTY keyboard makes it a snap to type your messages.
The enV ships with a number of handy tools, including a calendar and a voice memo application. An alarm clock and calculator are also included. Use the enV's Bluetooth capability to set up a wireless link with a Bluetooth headset accessory or to connect to a computer or handheld device to exchange and synchronize data.
The enV supports V Cast 3-D games, as well as other 2-D-based games, which are available from Verizon's Get It Now service. You can also customize the phone's wallpapers and screen savers to give your phone a look that suits your style. And if music is your thing, with the built-in memory card slot and the enV's advanced MP3 player, you'll never be at a loss for something good to listen to (memory cards sold separately).
Other features include:
Bluetooth version 1.2 with the following profiles: A2DP (stereo music streaming), AVRC (remote control), HFP (hands-free car kits), HSP (communication headsets), BPP (basic printing profile for text, email), DUN (dial-up networking), FTP (file transfer), HID (support for mice or joysticks), OPP (object push for business cards, calendar items, and pictures)
Flight mode for listening to music and watching videos with the phone functionality turned off
13 unique ringtones; vibrate and silent modes
One-touch speakerphone
Speaker-independent voice-activated dialing
Voice memo recording

LG enV VX9900 Phone, Silver (Verizon Wireless) Review

LG enV VX9900 Phone, Silver (Verizon Wireless)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Couple of items that need mentioned since by reading the other reviews you obviously know that this phone ROCKS....
1) DO NOT waste your money on the sync data cable and music essential pack. All you need is a Micro-SD reader, about $10, and you can pop out the micro sd card and transfer music in that manner. I was able to burn any songs I wanted from iTunes as an audio CD, then import them into Windows Media Player to convert them to WMA and drag and drop into the music folder on the micro sd card. (Once you format the card through your EnV it will add 4 folders)
2) DO NOT waste your money on anything bigger then a 1gb Micro SD card. They sell them almost everywhere, I got mine for $22 on eBay. The reason you cannot go any bigger is that the EnV will only accept 1gb and after the card is formatted (required) if the card is larger then 1gb then only 1gb will be recognized.
3) I have read where people have had the phone speed-dail while in their pocket and/or case. I cannot see how this could happen if you have the 'keypad lock' set to activate. I have mine set on 7 seconds. For it to make a call on it's own it would have to have any button pushed, then have the 'ok' button pushed, then have the speed dial button pushed. All of this would have to take place within 7 seconds or the 'keypad lock' would be reset. I have taken mine out of the case to see where a button has been pushed but the screen will state to 'push ok to unlock' to continue to use the phone.
4) If you do buy the phone off of eBay and they mention a rebate offer, make sure that you are getting a 'point of sale' receipt. You will need this along with the rebate form...don't trust everyone, check to see if they are an actual Verizon Retailer.
5) You will need a case to cover the entire phone, I would hate the see the front screen get all scratched up. They have some nice leather ones, like the Monoca series, on the internet.
6) Yes, the outter screen and the inside screen can be set to different wallpapers as well as the keys and shortcuts can be set to different functions, very handy and well thought out. None of the keys get on the way while using the phone such as in the RAZR's case. While using the internal keypad your hand will be on the outter camera lens and I have once accidentally opened the lens cap by twisting the outter silver ring; no biggie, just need to check this prior to laying it down on something to keep the lens from being scatched.
Well I hope you enjoy your phone and I hope this set some things straight. I love mine and going from a traditional style flip phone to this was not bad at all. Very comfortable to hold and the phone works great!!

LG VX9400 Phone (Verizon Wireless) Review

LG VX9400 Phone (Verizon Wireless)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Reception
Excellent - one of the better phones for reception that I have had.
Speaker Phone
Good quality speaker phone and very simple to activate. Actually, have to be careful if holding the phone can accidentally activate the speaker phone very easily.
Texting
Texting is pretty simple but does take some getting used to. The clear button is on the bottom of the key pad area versus on top in most phones. Nothing a little practice can't overcome.
Battery Life
The standard battery is 2-3 days depending upon usage. I just received my extended battery and expect much better results.
Overall Design
I like it. I am a big fan of the flip phone. This design is a little nicer since you can just push the phone to the left. The only issue I could potentially see is if you are left handed. The way the phone is designed, it works best for right handers.
Update 4/25/07
One thing I just accidentally found out is that the phone has an antenna. Shows you how observant I was when I bought it!!
Overall still very pleased with the phone. My wife especially likes it because the font is larger.
Update 5/28/07
I would still rate this phone 5 stars however, last week I purchased the new Blackberry 8830. I am the type of person who likes a phone that can do pretty much everything and the 8830 fits my needs (push email, games, stable, nice form factor, etc. See my review whenever they decide to post a 8830 on amazon).
The 9400 is a good phone, excellent reception/talk time with extended battery and very good wow factor but the rotation is pretty much just a gimick. From a practicality standpoint it isn't the greatest form. Here is why. 1. The phone is really built for right handers. 2. To call someone you have to rotate the screen, dial and then flip it back. If you don't, you end up holding the phone at an awkward angle so that the speaker can be near your ear. Is this a big deal for me? No because I mainly use bluetooth headsets. That is why I left the rating at a 5.

A five-way directional button that controls most of the phone's functions and menus, resides just below the VX9400's impressive screen. The phone lets you easily assign pictures as well as ringtones to your most common callers. Lastly, the VX9400's GPS location technology pinpoints your exact location when you dial 911.

You can check your email, trade stocks online, compare prices while shopping, access flight information, get movie listings, and find directions to the theater. Verizon's music service is another EV-DO-powered service that makes the VX9400 all the more desirable. With V Cast music, your phone is a music player, letting you jam out wherever you are. It's also a music store, and you can download songs instantly to your phone. Save your songs to a memory card with a capacity that's right for you. You can even pause to take a call without missing a beat. View the V Cast Music demo.
One of the greatest and innovative things about the VX9400 is that it is fully compatible with Verizon's new V Cast Mobile TV service. With V CAST Mobile TV, you can experience the best of network and cable television programming in full motion video and sound right on your Verizon Wireless mobile device. Turn down time into showtime. Slide open the VX9400, and enjoy your favorite programming, whenever, wherever. View the V Cast Mobile TV demo.

Imaging and EntertainmentThe phone's 1.3-megapixel camera features a flash, zoom options, and a host of automatic and manual camera functions that you'd expect from an advanced digital camera, such as a self-timer, multi-shot functions, white balance controls, and more. You can even choose the shutter sound to truly customize your phone. With the VX9400, you'll never have to worry about forgetting your digital camera again. The VX9400 can capture video, too, up to one hour with a 2 GB memory card.
For times when you really want to jam out, and really want to conserve battery life, the phone comes with a music-only mode, a feature that allows you to turn off the phone functions of the VX9400, but still maintain access to the music player.

(More customer reviews)
The LG Viewty is a very expensive phone. But I will not get into that, I think, judging by its offerings, its worth the money.
The phone is very well designed, and I guarantee you'll be astonished at its relatively thin design and screen size. The full thing was much smaller than I had expected. I like the looks of the chrome outlining around the phone, but it would've been nice to have the bottom buttons off the screen in chrome too, like the Prada. BUT this chrome outlining is actually just a little thick and does chip over time.
The camera lens inconveniently DOESN'T have a lens cover, a rather strange move. The glossy front and matte back are nice and the chrome buttons on the side only compliment the phone. There is only one side of the phone with buttons, while the other only has a jack for the USB cable/Headphone adapter/Charger. But it has a sliding cover, much better than those rubber things usually.
The phone looks great, but the microSd card is located under the battery. Its both good and bad. Another slot on the phone wouldn't look great, but then again, removing the battery is irritating.
Turning the phone on, your greeted with an LG icon, as you wait around 30 seconds for the phone to start up. Luckily, there is no initial lag after start up.
The menu's are VERY simple and easy to use. You are immediately prompted to activate your Sd card, and export your contact list on your SIM to the phone. Worked fast and efficiently.
The menu is slightly similar to the iphone. There are 4 main icons on the main screen. THey are always there, either horizontally or vertically on the screen. Within each is a different shortcut. The first one takes you to the apps page, like on blackberry's. The second one allows you to call. THe 3rd is a mail shaped icon that takes you to texting and emailing, conveniently located in the same shortcut. The 4th one is your contacts list. The original menu is black and white, but there are plenty of themes, user made or not, that can be installed, some mimicking the iphone, others the blackberry, etc.
The screen is originally decorated with the 4 shortcut buttons, a clock, and the bar strength/battery life/profile settings, but can be littered with a full calander, blu tooth/music settings, and a digital or normal clock and even a Fish to move around the screen.
Call quality is amazing on this phone, better than my high quality home phone! Even at 1 bar, people sound crisp and clear and several times people have wondered, during a conversation, how I sound so clear on my cell. Even with the included headphone adapter for music, which has a mic in it, I sound clear and loud.
Texting is very easy, but takes some learning and getting used to. You need to understand how the QWERTY board is different from normal ones, but it works, very well actually, once you fully grasp a hold of it.
The 3.0" screen is beautiful and colorful, with nice contrasts and brightness. But the touch screen is just touch and not thermal like the itouch/iphone. It works well, very well, better than the Nintendo DS or Prada. But not quite as touch screen sensitivity defining as the iphone.Video is amazing. Simply put. Depending on the video, if you put in a good quality video you'll love the results. DivX, h.263/4, MP4, WMV, and MPG,
Music quality is great, and the music is organized exactly as it would be on a normal iPod. There is no lag, and it shows album art, features fowarding/rewinding, and music minimizing so you can use other apps while listening to your music, key features no other phone, even music based phones offer, other than the iPhone.
But this is no music phone, its a camera phone. Besides the awesome game support (full 3d graphics, guitar hero works!) , great music support, awesome video player, etc.
Its AMAZING. I've never owned a phone with a camera this beautiful and sophisticated. It actually has a really, really, really, good lens. You could take 1MP photo's, and they'd appear better than some 2.0 MP compact camera's!
A plentiful variety of options await you as you turn on the camera. The camera part of the phone is almost entirely separate. As soon as you click the camera button or enter it via menu, the phone options, music, its all gone, and it seems like a camera and only a camera. The xenon flash works fantastic and in horribly lit situations, the phone performs reasonably well, although it isn't the greatest. But some ISO level tweaking, and white balancing working helps a bunch. Initially, although I was impressed, I expected better from the renowned lens developer. But I realized that by default the phones camera is not set as optimally as you'd want it.
The video camera is even better, probably the best I've used, period. For the price, of course. It reaches resolutions of up to 640x480 or normal screen size of 320x240.
It can also record at 120fps, which is very fun to play with. See a balloon pop, things dropping, cars driving by, etc.
Originally it records at a stable 30FPS.
The phone is absolutely great.
It has some other faults though. there are other toys, like a voice recorder, FM Radio, a great HDSPA browser, etc.
But no wifi, no quad band (tri band), no thermal screen, no lens cover, etc.
I still definitely recommend the phone to anyone. Especially those in European/Asian areas. In America it works fine, but I live up in the mountains and around here, while the 850 band is present, 1900, which is all this phone supports in America, is not as profound. Around big cities/high ways/mostly everywhere except suburban/rural areas, it works great. And even at 1 bar it works fine.
Definitely recommend it. And get a different screen protector and a case, the thing scratches a little easily.

Combining sensational style with ultimate functionality, the LG KU990 Viewty camera phone includes high-end Schneider-Kreuznach optics as well as an advanced LCD touchscreen. The extra large 3-inch display provides superior visibility when operating its camera or handset functions and it reacts to your touch by signaling direct contact with vibration. The 5-megapixel camera includes a manual focus option that enables you to snap professional-quality photos by pinpointing or fading out on subjects as you wish. It also records stunning video at 120 frames per second (fps). Other features include Bluetooth connectivity for communication headsets and stereo music streaming, 100 MB internal memory, MicroSD memory expansion (up to 2 GB), multi-format digital audio player, and nearly 4 hours of talk time.
This unlocked cell phone can be used with a GSM network service provider and it provides tri-band connectivity (900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 1900 MHz). It does not come with a SIM card, and it requires that you provide a SIM card for usage with your selected service provider. This phone comes with a one-year warranty from a third party provider.
When paired with a compatible 3G network that uses UMTS 2100 MHz connectivity (found in Europe and Asia), you'll enjoy a variety of feature-rich wireless services with speeds up to 384 Kbps--from data connectivity to your office to multimedia streaming, and take advantage of simultaneous voice and data services. In the United States and foreign territories where 2100 MHz 3G networks are not available, you'll continue to receive data service via EDGE network (depending on network compatibility).
Phone Features Building on the success of its Prada phone, the LG Viewty's 3-inch TFT touchscreen provides an intuitive user interface that makes it easy to use right out of the box, with many controls similar to digital cameras. It has a resolution of 240 x 400 pixels and support for 256K colors. A jog wheel placed on the back of the handset allows for quick scrolling and searching; and when playing music or videos it can turn the volume up and down, fast-forward or rewind and zoom in and out. You can easily select the modes--Camera, Video, Album--with the 3-step module key.
Handwriting recognition technology identifies user handwriting on the display surface for easy and convenient composition of text, phone numbers and Internet searching. With the added Editing function, you can freely edit and enhance captured images and relive the moment by directly drawing or writing on them with their fingertips or with a stylus.
Certified by the optics giant Schneider-Kreuznach, the Viewty's 5.0-megapixel camera is capable of capturing clearer and more vivid images than other camera phones. And with the Viewty's manual focus function--a first for a camera phone--you can take more control over your pictures. Together with an image stabilizer function and its direct key button, it's now easier than ever to take crystal clear photos. This useful and camera-like feature not only enables novice photographers to take steady pictures, but also prevents any delicate movements when capturing images.
Without the use of flash, the Viewty excels in capturing low-light images by increasing the ISO standard of 400 to 800, as well as enabling you to adjust the brightness level of captured images with LG's SmartLight technology. The high-speed video recording function of LG Viewty allows you to catch every moving detail of a balloon bursting or a diver plunging into the water. This ultra high-speed function can capture the finest detail of any passing moment to be played back in the most vivid and dramatic way.
The Bluetooth version 1.2 wireless connectivity includes profiles for communication headset, data transfer and the A2DP Bluetooth advanced audio profile, which enables you to stream audio to a pair of compatible Bluetooth stereo headphones. It also provides support for PictBridge technology so you can print your photos without the need of a PC (either using USB or Bluetooth).
The integrated digital audio player offers support for a variety of formats (MP3, AAC, AAC+, WMA), as does the video player (MPEG4, H.263, H.264). The full screen enables users to enjoy high quality DivX video files in wide screen format. Your entertainment options are expanded even further with a built-in FM radio.

LG Dare VX9700 Phone, Silver (Verizon Wireless) Review

LG Dare VX9700 Phone, Silver (Verizon Wireless)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have had the LG DARE/VX9700 touch screen phone for over a month now and it is a great phone and certainly the best touch screen Verizon has to offer and a great alternative to an iphone over on that other network AT&T. Remember you will need phone plan, internet plan, picture/text plan and they have many to choose from. Myself I went alacart and chose specific things I wanted and know I would use and it cost me less than several of the packages offered. NOTE: This is not a SMARTPHONE, it doesn't promote itself that way but some may expect that and it is not.
Side note for comparisons:
I have an Apple iPod Touch mp3 player which is basically a first generation iPhone without the phone. The Touch is a superb product and the screen is unsurpassed in it's size and clarity, identical to the iPhone and I even get free wi-fi on the iPod Touch, something you pay for with a data plan with the iPhone. If the iphone had more features and fair plan/price options it would be more desirable, maybe it's next iteration?! For example for the $59.99 plan I have with Verizon, the same plan/options with the iphone on AT&T would cost me $99.99. Again I have no affiliation to either and would prefer NOT to be a customer of either one but sadly we have little choice but to select a company and their pricey offerings.
Back to the LG Dare, it is a superb product the screen is exceptional and if it were as big as the iPhone/iPod Touch screen it would be even be more exceptional. However, LG went with a little smaller footprint but packed it with many goodies that you can't yet get in any other touch screen phone including the Apple iPhone 3G.
I am not a fan of any contract to any service provider, I just happen to have been on Verizon a long time, they do have in my experience the best call quality and coverage coast to coast but I still hate signing anything for 2yrs. Remember you have 30 days to test out the phone and if it's NOT what you expected or want, return it and get another or go out and try another provider.
I didn't return mine as I really like it allot and yes the biggest gripe would be to have a larger screen thus less need to scroll during internet use as the net takes up allot of real estate when dealing with a small screen. I am not on there to do long term surfing or intensive seraches. I get onto the net to check my hotmail email and to look at weather, movie times, news headlines for brief periods. Sometimes it can be slower then you'd like but that depends allot on the signal strength of the area you are in.
You can view horizontal or vertical as the screen will adjust to however you hold the phone. This also happens with typing text for text messages or using the internet. Hold the phone horizontal and you will get the onscreen qwerty keybord, hold it vertical and you get the phone like keyboard to enter text. There is a button on each of the screens to select either one you like best for your typing.
The call quality is exceptionally clear and loud, the screen adjusts to indoor and outdoor lighting which is great and better than many other phone screens and even digital camera screens. Of course you have bluetooth as well for connecting to headphones, your computer if it bluetooth equiped etc.
You have the ability to drag and drop icons/buttons on the main screen, arrange them to your liking. You have an abundance of menus that are quite easy to click/scroll through and easy to follow or test and see what your options are with many of the features.
It does have hand writing recognition, it is not easy for me with big fingers to draw things, or a map and with a stylus pen certainly better. You can craft something and email or text it someone, it's a nifty little feature and something unique for now and you will see more of it in the future and of course it will be improved with each iteration.
You have many sound settings and vibration settings for the phone, tactile feedback when typing/scrolling and a load of ringtones to choose from or go buy/download others.
Speaker phone is loud and you can even have it verbally read your text messages to you which can be amusing with the computerized voice.
This phone has the best camera of any cell phone sold in the U.S. It comes with a 3.2 megapixel camera, with face detection, zoom and editing in the phone to name a couple things off the photo menu. The photos I have taken are exceptional for a cell phone and close to what I had in my first digital camera several years ago. They are more than exceptional for emailing and online posting. Remember when emailing them to users on a smaller phone that the photo text messages will be very pixelated because they are trying to view it on a much lower resolution screen and a 1-2 inch screen at best.
I recommend getting a micro SD card and you can get them pretty cheap on amazon, search and do a little research and you'll find a good cheap 4gb card and thus you will have ample room for photos and videos and not suddenly run out, but in saying that make sure to download stuff so as to keep the phone pretty empty allowing you to photo and video when out and about or when you forget your digital camera.
As for it being an mp3 player that is another great option and of course Verizon wants you to use their store but you can plug the phone in and download/rip music from your computer but not from itunes of course, all about file conversions and all that proprietary BS. In any case it works just like an iPhone for music minus the very good itunes store that can be accessed direct from an iPhone. For me I don't use this phone for music being I have the iPod Touch and it also saves me concern on draining the phone battery. I have gone several days without charging when using the phone, texting, taking photos and sending them as well as accessing the net. The charger has a plug for the electrical outlet and a usb plug to connect to your computer to charge as well.
It is a little smaller over all from the iPhone a tiny bit thicker but almost not noticable. Slowly I see more and more accessories for the Dare and many are here on Amazon and much cheaper than Verizon or other retailers. I recommend a cover, silicone, rubber ones are great and I have dropped my phone several times without any damage or marks as it almost bounces with the silicone cover I have. I also purchased a few of the screen protectors.
By having the screen protector I often use a stylus pen on the screen as I have very large fingers and one thing that happens with any touch screen when you have big fingers it is easy to select the wrong thing or more then one thing. The LG Dare will allow you to actually set the sensitivity in the options menu. It comes preset but you can actually run a test and change the sensitivity to make it more pressure sensitive to how you tap the screen.
I have touched on many things and many more things I have easily missed but go to Cnet, ZDnet, Amazon and check out Reviews, or just google LG Dare reviews. The best way would be to go take it for a test drive at a local Best Buy, at the Verizon stores and check on the 30 day trial as well via Verizon.
As with any electronics product, they could always be better and this is the first version of the LG Dare and hopefully they can improve the next version just like Apple did with it's iphone, however, Apple didn't go nearly far enough so maybe the 3rd generation iphone will be great and the 2nd generation of the Dare even further unique than it currently is on the market today.

LG Prime Prepaid GoPhone (AT&T) with $15 Airtime Credit Review

LG Prime Prepaid GoPhone (ATandT) with $15 Airtime Credit
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I don't quite understand why so many people complain about the phone locking after receiving a call. The answer is very simple. It locks so that when you put the phone to your head you don't activate commands via the touch screen. Think about it. You place the phone against your ear and the side of your face which can, and would, cause enough pressure on the screen to activate various commands. Also, there is a button conveniently placed on the side of the phone that activates and deactivates the screen lock. If I need to key in a number or get access to the touchscreen for any reason during a call just hit the button on the side, and Viola!, you can use it at will.
Overall, this is a great phone, with great features, great quality at a FANTASTIC price. Plus, there is a nice feature with AT&T's Go phones. Say you have a standard phone account with AT&T but want to upgrade your phone for cheap without having to sign a new multi-year contract. Just buy the Go phone of your choice and instead of using the SIMM that comes with the phone use the one from your old phone. I bought the LG Prime and installed the SIMM from my old phone and it operates like an unlocked phone. I have done this for my past two phone upgrades. It allows me to operate my AT&T account without having to continually lock into a contract just to get a decent phone at a decent price. Doing this, I can drop my plan anytime I chose or change it anytime I want.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What services will trigger the daily charge on the $2 Unlimited Daily Talk & Text plan? A: Services that trigger the charge are: a voice call (including calls to voice mailbox), using IM, sending a text, picture/video/sound message. The use of data (Pay Per Use or Package), does not trigger the daily charge.

Q: May I add a data feature package to the 30-day $60 Unlimited Talk & Text or $75 Unlimited Talk & Text Plus 200MB Data rate plans? A: No. The only options for these two plans is the Pay-Per-Use data rate of $.01/KB included in the plans. Once a customer on the $75 Unlimited Talk & Text Plus 200MB Data Plan exhausts their 200MB, they will revert to the Pay-Per-Use data rate of $.01/KB included in the plans.

Q: What if I don't use all of my data on the $75 Unlimited Talk & Text Plus 200 MB rate plan within 30 days? A: You begin each 30 day period with a new allocation of 200 MB to use; there is no 'rollover' of unused data.

Average Reviews:

I've read the other reviews and I just don't understand what those people are talking about, because my phone is perfectly fine, its actually really good. I had a Rzor phone before and I really like it but I like this one better because I love how you can upload music from your computer to your phone, i like the sound quality and for those people who say that the phone is difficult to use, they only say that cause they dont understand how to use it!

Slimmer, lighter and sweeter than ever, LG updates its Chocolate slider phone to the VX8550 with improvements including a new metal navigation wheel (which traces your finger's movement with a small light), vibrating touch keypad, and the ability to run the music player in the background while using the other features of the phone. But many of the much vaunted features of the original Chocolate remain: silky-smooth slider design support for V Cast Music, an integrated music/video player, a 1.3 megapixel camera/camcorder, stereo Bluetooth capabilities, and a microSD memory slot for up to 4 GB of storage.
With the V Cast Video service, you can stream or download video clips to your phone from a variety of news, entertainment, sports, and weather channels, including CNN, ABC News, E!, CBS Sports, The Weather Channel, and VH1.
Phone Features The Chocolate features a seriously attractive open-faced design with an internal antenna and a vibrant 240 x 320 pixel, 262,000-color TFT/TFD display. A touch sensor click wheel, similar to iPod, and sliding design set the phone apart stylistically. Opening the slider reveals a numeric keypad, as well as the 1.3-megapixel camera and LED flash, which are housed on the rear of the phone. The new navigation wheel with Trace Motion Light allows for easy navigation through phone functions, as well as quick and simple functionality while browsing music and videos. The touch keypad provides an improved feel for quicker input.
The phone's 1.3-megapixel digital camera features a flash, as well as 2x digital zoom, self-timer, night-mode functions, and brightness and white balance controls. Other features include an in-phone image editor (zoom, rotate, crop) and a mirror for self-portrait capability. The camera can also capture video clips--30 seconds for sending and up to 1 hour for saving to memory card--at a 176 x 144-pixel resolution. It's compatible with playing MP3, 3GP, and 3G2 video formats, and you can set a video as your screen's wallpaper (as long as it's under 5 MB in size).
A built-in music player with a dedicated music key for easy access, stereo speakers and an equalizer, MP3 and WMA playback, and the ability to hide the music player while still allowing the music to play on in the background. You can create and manage playlists right on the phone, as well as synchronize music between the Chocolate and your PC (using an optional USB cable and connecting with Windows Media Player 10 or higher). You can also take advantage of the Chocolate's Bluetooth wireless headset capability, allowing you to hook up a pair of Bluetooth stereo headphones.
The Chocolate boasts powerful calling functions, such as speaker independent voice dialing, which makes it easy to call contacts by simply saying their names. No prior voice training is required and you can even speak individual digits to the phone for quick dialing of numbers you know by heart. And because the Chocolate is Bluetooth enabled, wireless headsets can be configured with the phone for total handsfree operation. You can save up to 20 Bluetooth pairings, and it supports the following Bluetooth profiles: headset, hands-free, dial-up networking, advanced audio distribution, phone book access, basic printing, object push for vCard and vCalendar (accessories sold separately), file transfer, and basic imaging.
The Chocolate's internal memory can hold up to 1000 contacts for quick access to email addresses and phone numbers. Each contact can store up to five numbers and two email addresses. The phone lets you easily assign pictures as well as ringtones to your most common callers. In addition to vibrating alerts, the phone supports polyphonic ringtones, and a number of ringtones come preloaded on the phone and more ringtones can be downloaded from Verizon's Get It Now service.
The phone's support for multimedia messaging means that text, photos, video and audio can be sent with ease (Verizon messaging charges apply). When used in combination with the Chocolate's built-in camera, MMS opens up a whole new world of messaging fun. There's also a built-in web browser for downloads and mobile web browsing. Verizon's optional Mobile Web 2.0 package allows you to read and send emails, exchange instant messages and view your favorite web content on your phone. You can check your email, trade stocks online, compare prices while shopping, access flight information, get movie listings and find directions to the theater. T9 text entry, which is a technology that makes it easier for people to enter words and text on handsets, is built into the unit-- a plus for mobile email and text messaging users.
A number of handy software tools are bundled with the Chocolate including a voice memo recorder that can record calls, a calculator, a calendar, and an alarm clock. You can even set the alarm to wake you to your favorite music. Also included with the Chocolate is Verizon's VG Navigator software, which allows you to get real-time, turn-by-turn audible directions as you're driving.

i havent had a dropped call yet, the reception is good, includes the bluetooth feature and you can transfer ringtones, pictures and wallpapers from your bluetooth to the phone. this is the first phone from tracfone that allows you to do this, and the camera takes ok pictures but not the best quality, it does not have a flash. the internet browser works but tracfone has crippled it so it will only let you go to the tracfone sites and will not let you go on any other url such as [...]. overall if you just want a phone for emergencies or occasional use and really dont require the many features then this is the phone for you.

The perfect complement to Tracfone prepaid wireless service, the sleek, lightweight LG 600G offers an affordable way to stay in touch with family and friends across town and around the globe via voice communication and text messaging. And this phone offers Double Minutes for the life of the phone. That means when you add a 60, 120 or 200-minute card, or a 1 Year of Service Airtime Card (which adds 400 minutes), you'll receive double the airtime for the same low price.

Other features include Bluetooth connectivity for hands-free devices, a VGA camera for still photos, speakerphone, organizer tools, and up to 6.5 hours of talk time.

Tracfone Service Tracfone provides nationwide prepaid wireless service using the nation's leading cellular providers to create a national footprint covering 99 percent of the U.S. population. This gives you connectivity everywhere cellular service is available. You can use your Tracfone across the U.S. and if you move, you can relocate your wireless number with just a phone call.

You can buy bundles of minutes (which must be used within a set time limit of between 90 to 365 days) from the Tracfone web site on your home PC or directly from your phone's web browser. For example, if you purchase a block of 120 minutes of airtime, you'll need to use that within 90 days of your first use. When you buy additional airtime minutes, your Tracfone service is extended automatically by another 90 days. Tracfone also offers international long distance calling to over 60 international destinations (including Argentina, Brazil, China, Mexico, most European countries, and many more), which deducts the same amount of minutes from your phone as when you make calls to destinations within the U.S.
This phone ships with a number of handy Tracfone services, including free voice mail, free caller ID, and free call waiting. And perhaps most importantly, the integrated TracFone Airtime Balance Display shows you how much airtime you've used and how much is left, so you can control your costs. You must activate your cell phone before use either by calling the Tracfone toll-free number or going to the Tracfone web site.
Phone Features The clamshell LG 600G has an internal LCD screen with a 128 x 160-pixel resolution and support for 65K colors, and it's complemented by an external screen (96 x 64 pixels, 65K colors) that displays current time, battery life, signal strength, and incoming calls. The internal phonebook can store up to 1000 contact entries, and it supports multiple numbers per contact entry as well as caller groups.
Hands-free communication is easy thanks to the integrated speakerphone. This phone also provides Bluetooth wireless connectivity (version 2.0), and includes profiles for communication headset and hands-free car kits.
Support for basic text messaging and multimedia messaging (MMS) are built into the 600G. When used in combination with the phone's built-in camera, MMS opens up a whole new world of messaging fun. The T9 predictive text entry technology is built into the unit, which makes it easier for people to enter words and text on handsets--a plus for mobile email and text messaging users.
Other features include:
Tracfone Airtime Balance Display shows you how much airtime you've used and how much is left
VGA camera for still photos with multi-shot, self-timer, brightness, white balance functions
Organizer tools: Calendar, alarm, calculator, stopwatch, world clock, notepad, unit converter, tip converter

I will get right to the point...
My phone constantly calls people in my contact list daily (without my knowledge). The keypad freezes for hours at a time and I cannot use the phone at all! The screen goes crazy and just automatically scrolls out of control. I have had this phone for 8 months and had to replace it twice already! It really wears on your patience. You can adjust the touch sensitivity, but it doesn't help. I have had it! Most of the time I can't even use the damn thing! UGH!!!
