LG Chocolate Touch Hard Plastic Snap On Case (Clear) Review

LG Chocolate Touch Hard Plastic Snap On Case (Clear)
Average Reviews:

This case fits the LG Chocalate Touch perfectly and looks great. The only reason it did not give it 5 stars was due to the fact that it takes forever and a day to get it off. The SD card for this phone is underneath the back cover. To get to it you'll need to remove this case first. The case does not snap to the phone like the LG Voyager or the lg vx8700. It snaps together making it almost impossible to pull apart without breaking it or scratching up your phone in the process. So while it does the job...just be cautious when trying to get it off.

For some reason I thought there would be a cover for the touch screen but there wasn't. Other than that it would of been great. I still have to get a cover yet to protect the screen. Make sure you buy this when ordering this product.

LG Chocolate 3 Phone, Light Blue (Verizon Wireless) Review

LG Chocolate 3 Phone, Light Blue (Verizon Wireless)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I'm first for this review...seeing as how the phone only just came out a couple weeks ago, not everyone has had the chance to get the phone and try it out yet.
So for those of you out there who are looking into buying this gem of a phone, let me tell you, you're in for a treat.
Anyone who's had the previous versions of the Verizon Chocolate phones may or may not like the new look of this Chocolate and may be missing some features from what I've read about it online; however, I have never used the previous Chocolates - I have only had the LG VX9800 previous to this phone and I really enjoyed that phone as well (though I could totally do without the keyboard).
First off, the phone comes in two colors - black and light blue. I chose light blue because blue is one of my favorite colors and I was sick of always having a black or grey phone every two years. Wish they had this phone in more colors though.
Secondly, there is 1GB of memory in this phone for music. This phone is completely dedicated to music. There is even a 3.5mm jack so you can pop in your regular headphones you use to listen to your CD player or iPod with, to listen to music on this phone. Plus you can get up to 8GB of memory using a Micro SD card slot which is located on the right side of the phone (some of the newer phones I noticed have had their Micro SD slots where the battery is inserted and it can be a complete hassle having to take off the battery door just to put in the memory card into the phone - that's mostly with Samsung phones). You can save as many music files, ringtones, photos and more on your card and not have to worry about losing memory in the phone either. 1GB is very generous for a phone.
Second, I love the clamshell look of this Chocolate phone. The previous Chocolate phones were not clamshells but sliders...and I'm glad LG came out with the flip version of the phone. The outside screen is a good size - you can put a wallpaper of your favorite photo on the front screen and it will look amazing! The colors are vivid and bright too.
The main screen when you open the flip is about as big as the new Razr2, but the Razr2 I think is slightly larger. However, you can put up your favorite pictures as a wallpaper (comes with some already installed which are pretty neat in and of itself as well).
Ok, now let me get to the part about the music! First of all, I have to say, the clarity of the phone when listening to the music on your headset is amazing. I don't even feel like I'm listening to music on a phone, but rather an iPod or a Samsung MP3 player....heck, to me it sounds better then a CD player (but of course that is up to you and how your ears make the music sound to you). What I really like about the music feature of the phone is that you can listen to music while you text and make calls....your favorite songs are playing all the while you text, navigate the phone's contacts, and what not. There is also an option to just have the music play but not receive calls, make calls, or text message (however, I'd rather be doing 3 things at once while listening to my songs...that's just my opinion). You can listen to music with the flip closed. There is a dedicated wheel button like you will see in an iPod or another MP3 player, that you can use to navigate through your list of songs, pause, play or stop the song. The only downside to listening to music with your flip closed is that you have to constantly keep pressing the unlock button located on right side of the phone because it will keep locking itself and you have to unlock it(I'm sure there's a way to stop that from happening, but I still need to explore the phone).
The phone comes with an FM transmitter, that can be used to transmit the FM waves to your car stereo system or any other stereo system. I haven't tried that feature yet and don't know how to, so if anyone has anything to share in that area when they write their reviews, please do!
The camera is okay....it's not something I'd use on a daily basis though. I'd rather take my Canon if I want to take any meaningful shots. My old LG VX9800 took shots better then my Chocolate does and I have proof of that as I ordered printouts of them and they look like pictures taken from a digital camera.
You will notice when you are flipping through the menu that the style has changed. First off, you have 9 icons (kind of how the actual phones might look like without the Verizon UI installed) which can be navigated by the joystick arrows. The VZ Navigator and the Media Center (which is in the middle) are dedicated icons on the Chocolate. You will see icons for Games (which you have to buy as the phone doesn't come with any preinstalled), Mailbox, Music, Tools, and Recent calls as well as VCast Videos.
You can change the look and feel of the colors inside to either a Slick Black, White, Dark Chocolate, or Orbis. I personally like the White or the Black. Orbis is plain and Dark Chocolate looks a bit creepy to me. I was thinking more along the lines of the color of actual dark chocolate bars but I don't think they had that same idea for it.
Text messaging is easy! I had the Glyde before I decided to get the Chocolate phone when I upgraded (I also tried the Samsung Flipshot before I gave it to my mom to use). I hated the Samsung Glyde - the touch screen was horrendous to use as it would constantly freeze and while it had a dedicated keyboard, my fingers were too big for the buttons (considering I have smaller fingers then my own parents do). With the Chocolate, the buttons are roomy and big, and I find myself texting 100 x faster using the t9 predicted text then I ever did with the keyboard. I was not even able to be this fast when I used the Glyde's touch screen to type out t9 words. The keys of the Chocolate are smooth, flatter, and almost resemble the keys of a Razr. In fact a couple of people who saw my phone thought it looked a lot like the Razr because of it's slim compact design.
The Chocolate 3 is thinner (not as thin as the Razr), about as thin as the Samsung Alias. At times, you can find it a bit difficult to flip open because you might be afraid to drop the phone since it's slippery. The black version of the Chocolate 3 actually has a padded back so it doesn't slip and slide, but for some reason, they didn't add that to the light blue phone. O well. Just use both hands to flip open the phone if you're afraid of the phone slipping using one hand.
Battery life on this phone is great! Music playback is said to be 24 hours continuous, but that's without using the phone to talk or text. I don't have to usually charge the phone for at least a couple of days. The phone comes with a USB charger so you can charge your phone when you connect the USB to the computer. You can also connect the USB to the adapter plug to charge the phone without the use of a computer. The USB cable is great for syncing music and photos (though I just use my card to move my music and photos back and forth.
The one thing that I kind of find annoying with this phone is the headset - since it's 3.5 mm and I was used to the 2.5mm from the older phones (and the new ones that came out as well), any regular headphone I use does not work as a headset to talk to someone on your phone. Now I have to find a brand new headset that will allow me to talk on the phone and also listen to music at the same time. But I'm sure I will get used to it later on.....and I wasted 20 bucks on an actual 2.5mm headset. Bluetooth works on the phone perfectly (but I just don't want another radio trasmitter in my head causing negative long term effects, which is why I am looking for a good 3.5mm headset that can do both music and talk).
I hope this review helps you all out. I will come back and keep updating from time to time as I get more used to the phone and it's features. I only just bought it on Wednesday from the Verizon Store after selling my Glyde to someone who can deal with touch screens better then I can.

The case was easy to install and fit perfectly. The rubberized plastic is easy to grip and the phone fits great in the holster. There are many degrees of rotation on the ratcheting belt clip. The case does not inhibit any of the side buttons of the phone.
I highly recommend this holster for the LG Chocolate Touch.

I have purchased this phone last year for my girlfriend and ever since subjected myself to misery and constant complaints. This phone is a very stylish piece of junk, so I'll begin with listing the cons: 1) Very slow and unresponsive(very irritating) - sometimes you force yourself to tap things multiple time before it reacts, nor do you get a sense of whether it's thinking or doing anything. 2) Battery life is very poor despite the rating and the numbers shown in the spec. 3) Camera just died on me a few weeks after the purchase and now displays an error when i try to initialize a photo software, it starts working occasionally when i tap on the back of the phone (some quality there, huh?). 4) Navigation flow is deeply flawed by inconsistent navigation patterns and abilities to jump from screen to screen when you rotate the phone. 5)Internet browser sucks, it doesn't anti-alias text so it looks like cr@p. 6)There is no way to find any good software for it, no marketplace for it on the phone itself. These 6 items should be sufficient reasons not to get the phone, but I'll list what it does good anyway: 1) Video Playback is awesome. 2) Ring tones are not bad. 3)Phone Speaker is loud.
I only wish that LG could realize the flaws of it's proprietary OS and ported Android over for this otherwise capable device.

3 Pack of Premium Crystal Clear Screen Protectors for LG Chocolate Touch VX8575 Review

3 Pack of Premium Crystal Clear Screen Protectors for LG Chocolate Touch VX8575
Average Reviews:

First, mine doesn't look like the picture which shows it only covering the viewing screen of the LG Chocolate. It actually covers the entire front "glass". The cut-outs around the buttons are fairly good, but not perfect. The thing is, I ordered this one because the picture shows it covering only the viewing screen. That's what I wanted, but not what I got. Even the packaging and brand is different. This one is just called "Screen GUARD". It says it's washable and reusable. Well, of course you can wash the front, but not the back and it's not reusable. It DOES have a sticky back.
I'm the guy that's usually called on to install this type of thing. You know, the guy who'll get it right. I went through all 3 of them and wasn't happy with the results. I ended up just leaving it off. They all came out pretty close, but not perfect. This is probably because it's just a hair too wide and the holes just miss, so installation is a compromise and you'll likely get bubbles on the edges or near the buttons where the protector won't lay flat.
If you're not so fussy that it has to be perfect, this is OK. I've just seen 2 pictures from people who said theirs did turn out perfect, but they looked worse than mine - far from perfect. So, if you're the kind of person that often says "good enough", then these are probably good enough. I wish I was sent what I ordered.

I've read the other reviews and I just don't understand what those people are talking about, because my phone is perfectly fine, its actually really good. I had a Rzor phone before and I really like it but I like this one better because I love how you can upload music from your computer to your phone, i like the sound quality and for those people who say that the phone is difficult to use, they only say that cause they dont understand how to use it!

Slimmer, lighter and sweeter than ever, LG updates its Chocolate slider phone to the VX8550 with improvements including a new metal navigation wheel (which traces your finger's movement with a small light), vibrating touch keypad, and the ability to run the music player in the background while using the other features of the phone. But many of the much vaunted features of the original Chocolate remain: silky-smooth slider design support for V Cast Music, an integrated music/video player, a 1.3 megapixel camera/camcorder, stereo Bluetooth capabilities, and a microSD memory slot for up to 4 GB of storage.
Verizon Service Options With support for the EV-DO high-speed data standard, you'll enjoy fast access to the Internet and Verizon's multimedia services (additional charges applicable), with average download speeds ranging from 400 to 700 Kbps and peak rates up to 2 Mbps. (Learn more about where EV-DO coverage is offered.) The V Cast Music service enables you to download songs instantly to your phone, or purchase music through your PC and transfer the files to your phone. If purchased from your phone, you'll receive two copies of the song: a Windows Media Audio Pro Plus format at 64Kbps stereo is sent to your phone, and a Windows Media Audio 9 format at 160Kbps stereo is sent to your account in the V CAST Music online store for downloading to your PC. V Cast Music offers nearly 2 million songs, with more being added all the time.
With the V Cast Video service, you can stream or download video clips to your phone from a variety of news, entertainment, sports, and weather channels, including CNN, ABC News, E!, CBS Sports, The Weather Channel, and VH1.
Getting on the Internet is easy using Verizon's Mobile Web 2.0 package, which allows you to read and send e-mails, exchange instant messages and view your favorite web content on your phone. Verizon's Get It Now wireless download service is also fully compatible with this phone. This pay-per-download service features application downloads, games and productivity tools. You can also personalize your handset with ringtone downloads using the Get It Now service.
With this GPS-enabled phone, you'll be able to access Verizon's VZ Navigator service (additional charges applicable) for voice-prompted turn-by-turn directions, heads-up alerts, local search of nearly 14 million points of interest in the US (such as landmarks, restaurants and ATMs), and detailed color maps. And Verizon's Chaperone service lets you easily locate your loved ones from your Verizon Wireless phone or PC in real time. After defining a zone, such as an area designating a school or summer camp, you'll be sent an alert via text message when the Chaperone handset enters or leaves the zone.
Phone Features The Chocolate features a seriously attractive open-faced design with an internal antenna and a vibrant 240 x 320 pixel, 262,000-color TFT/TFD display. A touch sensor click wheel, similar to iPod, and sliding design set the phone apart stylistically. Opening the slider reveals a numeric keypad, as well as the 1.3-megapixel camera and LED flash, which are housed on the rear of the phone. The new navigation wheel with Trace Motion Light allows for easy navigation through phone functions, as well as quick and simple functionality while browsing music and videos. The touch keypad provides an improved feel for quicker input.
The phone's 1.3-megapixel digital camera features a flash, as well as 2x digital zoom, self-timer, night-mode functions, and brightness and white balance controls. Other features include an in-phone image editor (zoom, rotate, crop) and a mirror for self-portrait capability. The camera can also capture video clips--30 seconds for sending and up to 1 hour for saving to memory card--at a 176 x 144-pixel resolution. It's compatible with playing MP3, 3GP, and 3G2 video formats, and you can set a video as your screen's wallpaper (as long as it's under 5 MB in size).
A built-in music player with a dedicated music key for easy access, stereo speakers and an equalizer, MP3 and WMA playback, and the ability to hide the music player while still allowing the music to play on in the background. You can create and manage playlists right on the phone, as well as synchronize music between the Chocolate and your PC (using an optional USB cable and connecting with Windows Media Player 10 or higher). You can also take advantage of the Chocolate's Bluetooth wireless headset capability, allowing you to hook up a pair of Bluetooth stereo headphones.
The Chocolate boasts powerful calling functions, such as speaker independent voice dialing, which makes it easy to call contacts by simply saying their names. No prior voice training is required and you can even speak individual digits to the phone for quick dialing of numbers you know by heart. And because the Chocolate is Bluetooth enabled, wireless headsets can be configured with the phone for total handsfree operation. You can save up to 20 Bluetooth pairings, and it supports the following Bluetooth profiles: headset, hands-free, dial-up networking, advanced audio distribution, phone book access, basic printing, object push for vCard and vCalendar (accessories sold separately), file transfer, and basic imaging.
The Chocolate's internal memory can hold up to 1000 contacts for quick access to email addresses and phone numbers. Each contact can store up to five numbers and two email addresses. The phone lets you easily assign pictures as well as ringtones to your most common callers. In addition to vibrating alerts, the phone supports polyphonic ringtones, and a number of ringtones come preloaded on the phone and more ringtones can be downloaded from Verizon's Get It Now service.
The phone's support for multimedia messaging means that text, photos, video and audio can be sent with ease (Verizon messaging charges apply). When used in combination with the Chocolate's built-in camera, MMS opens up a whole new world of messaging fun. There's also a built-in web browser for downloads and mobile web browsing. Verizon's optional Mobile Web 2.0 package allows you to read and send emails, exchange instant messages and view your favorite web content on your phone. You can check your email, trade stocks online, compare prices while shopping, access flight information, get movie listings and find directions to the theater. T9 text entry, which is a technology that makes it easier for people to enter words and text on handsets, is built into the unit-- a plus for mobile email and text messaging users.
A number of handy software tools are bundled with the Chocolate including a voice memo recorder that can record calls, a calculator, a calendar, and an alarm clock. You can even set the alarm to wake you to your favorite music. Also included with the Chocolate is Verizon's VG Navigator software, which allows you to get real-time, turn-by-turn audible directions as you're driving.
Vital Statistics The LG VX8550 Chocolate weighs 3.24 ounces and measures 3.85 x 1.87 x 0.67 inches. Premium Black Soft Silicone Gel Skin Cover Case + LCD Screen Protector + Rapid Car Charger for LG Chocolate Touch VX8575 Review

Premium Black Soft Silicone Gel Skin Cover Case + LCD Screen Protector + Rapid Car Charger for LG Chocolate Touch VX8575
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This product bundle is acceptable for the price, but you get what you pay for. The charger is standard, and has functioned properly for the first month of use. I do like the fact that even the generic chargers provide access to the fuse. The case is very basic- a simple rubber shell, easily applied to the phone. The buttons are covered by the rubber, but their use is not restricted. The case provides all of the proper openings to allow normal use of the phone. The case does not stay on very well, and slips off the phone corners constantly, but does provide basic scratch protection and mild shock protection for the phone. The rubber case, as with most matte finished rubber cases, gets stuck in any pocket it is placed in. The loose fit also allows dust to work its way between the case and the phone. The screen protector is very basic, and does not feel like it would protect from more than general everyday wear. It is cut properly to cover the screen and the sensors at the top of the phone, but does not offer protection for the button area at the bottom. All in all, this bundle will probably suffice for people who are usually kind to their phones, but I doubt the case (or the charger for that matter) will hold up to any major abuse. It lives up to my expectations, however, considering the whole bundle is under ten dollars.
