A great choice for your text-heavy kids, the compact, refurbished Samsung M300 is styled with smooth, rounded lines and a mirrored finish. It also includes an external OLED screen that displays caller ID as well as current time--now they won't have any excuse for being late. (More customer reviews)I don't quite understand why so many people complain about the phone locking after receiving a call. The answer is very simple. It locks so that when you put the phone to your head you don't activate commands via the touch screen. Think about it. You place the phone against your ear and the side of your face which can, and would, cause enough pressure on the screen to activate various commands. Also, there is a button conveniently placed on the side of the phone that activates and deactivates the screen lock. If I need to key in a number or get access to the touchscreen for any reason during a call just hit the button on the side, and Viola!, you can use it at will.
Overall, this is a great phone, with great features, great quality at a FANTASTIC price. Plus, there is a nice feature with AT&T's Go phones. Say you have a standard phone account with AT&T but want to upgrade your phone for cheap without having to sign a new multi-year contract. Just buy the Go phone of your choice and instead of using the SIMM that comes with the phone use the one from your old phone. I bought the LG Prime and installed the SIMM from my old phone and it operates like an unlocked phone. I have done this for my past two phone upgrades. It allows me to operate my AT&T account without having to continually lock into a contract just to get a decent phone at a decent price. Doing this, I can drop my plan anytime I chose or change it anytime I want.

(More customer reviews)We were looking for an attractive, pre-paid cell phone and this fit the bill. It's easy to use, has good battery life, and includes a serviceable camera. The phone is comfortable to use (something that couldn't be said for the Motorola flip phones), snaps closed with a solid feel, and the menus are straightforward. Call quality with AT&T is very good. There are two things that could be improved: there should be a way to get photos off the phone without having to send a video text message, and it would be nice to be able to import phone numbers from a PC. For the price though it's no big deal. Other than those quibbles we're very happy with the phone.

Tracfone LG LG800G with Double Minutes for Life Review

(More customer reviews)The LG 800G cell phone is the first touch screen offered by TracFone, and in my opinion, the best TracFone yet offered. But don't look for it on LG's website - you won't find it. It is a special prepaid model for TracFone/Net10 only. I don't even find it listed overseas.
I have had mine for about four weeks. It is not a full smart phone, more like half-smart, when compared to something like the iPhone. It doesn't have accelerometers, it doesn't have WiFi, and you only have limited capability to change orientation of the screen.
But at only $50 or less, it is a very good value for the features it does have - a very good cell phone -- with a music player, HD camera (stills and video), external memory (optional), data cable (optional), a qwerty keyboard app, texting, and included apps for games, alarm clock, stop watch,voice recorder, calendar, memo pad, tasks list, scientific calculator, and World clock. And, you can add hundreds of your own apps, provided they are java apps.
You can surf the internet and access your email and text message - all costing you minutes. I personally don't have anything important enough to pay for cell phone internet connect time and downloads. But if you do, you can do it with the LG 800G.
While the external memory (microSDHC card), and USB data cable, are not included, you should consider them essential and buy them. The reason is that it is much cheaper to download apps to your computer and transfer it to the LG 800G by data cable. The data cable must be a USB-typA to a micrUSB-typeB. The data cable can only access the microSD card (external memory) and not the internal memory.
You can also use Bluetooth to connect to a Bluetooth headset, or to transfer files to/from a computer (if it the computer also has bluetooth.) You can set file transfer to be either to internal memory or to external memory. The LG 800G comes with double-minutes-for-life, and if you catch Home Shopping Network just at the right time, they occasionally have triple-minutes for life. The cost per minute is around ten cents, and even less.
The LG 800G has just too many features to discuss here. You will find the TracFone User guide that comes with the LG 800G to be pretty basic -- mostly devoted to activating the phone. You will want to access the TracFone LG 800G on-line Tutorial. There is no link on the TracFone website to the tutorial but you can find it, and the best user forum/blog, by Googling "TracFone LG 800G Tutorial." The top three or four hits should take you to the tutorial and to the Turk Forum LG 800G discussion.
All in all, I very much like the LG 800G, and would recommend it to a friend. My favorite app is the music player, which also has an equalizer and Bass Boost. With a good stereo headset, especially one that also receives calls, it is as good as it gets.

LG Neon GT365 Prepaid GoPhone with $15 Airtime Credit (AT&T) Review

(More customer reviews)I'm a long-time att customer whose old phone went bad. Instead of going to the ATT/ripoff artists, I bought this LG Neon GT365 GoPhone. I swapped my old phone's sim card into this GoPhone, turned it on and WOW!!! It instantly hooked up with the ATT network and worked perfectly from the beginning. I received an automated text from ATT that informed me of my existing account being credited with the $50 airtime credit!!! When I went to my account at att, I found that my device had been updated to this phone and a note was on my account explaining the new credit that had been added to my account.
As for the phone itself: The camera works perfectly; the cell's audio is perfect; the bluetooth works perfectly; the slide-out QWERTY keyboard works really well, even with my big, stubby fingers; the phone and its capabilities are very easy to figure out and use - very intuitive; the battery life is exceptionally good - 3 days between charges; the screen is touch with vibration feedback WHEN YOU DIAL and works really well. To top it all off, I put in a 2GB microSD card and now can store a gazillion pics and tunes.
The thing I can't figure out is the criticism of the battery life that I've read in reviews elsewhere. I text with my kids and wife constantly, usually with a picture going or coming; I bluetooth constantly; I make loads of calls a day to/from my customers yet I am only charging this phone every three days or so?!?!? HAH!!! And when this battery starts going bad, I'll go to the net and pick up a new one for next to nothing - what's so hard about that?
My only knock would be the unbelievably cheesy battery/back cover. It is a really flimsy, cheap, thin piece of molded plastic that took several careful attempts to snap it in place. That being said, I've had no problems with it since. Go figure...
Lastly - I HIGHLY recommend this LG Neon GT365 GoPhone to anybody and everybody! And, FYI, Amazon has the lowest price anywhere! Period! As to the problems someone else reviewing this product had, I have NEVER had a single problem with ANY product that I bought on Amazon that wasn't quickly and fairly resolved by Amazon or the vendors that sell through them.
I highly recommend the phone AND Amazon.com.
