GTMax Silver Touch Screen Stylus Pen - 2 Pack for Verizon HTC Droid Eris CDMA Cell Phone Review

GTMax Silver Touch Screen Stylus Pen - 2 Pack for Verizon HTC Droid Eris CDMA Cell Phone
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The GTMax Silver Touch Screen Stylus Pen works, sort of... and that's about where the positive things about this product end.
The tip of the stylus is a soft flexible rubber, undoubtedly intended to prevent damage to the screen; however, it is way too soft and flexible. You cannot drag the stylus across the screen without it loosing contact. I purchased this item for my Motorola Droid 2, and it is incredibly frustrating when I'm dragging through my app list and it stops and opens Angry Birds when I wanted to open my e-mail. Hours of time wasted... hours.
The tip actually pulls out of stylus, which is really just a small aluminum tube with a pocket clip attached. The tip pulls apart into two pieces, the rubber part and a hard plastic component. I think they were supposed to be glued together, but the adhesive didn't quite seem to hold. I believe the reason the glue didn't hold is because the hard plastic component is one of the most unusual and pointless shapes, and it really doesn't even match the shape of the rubber piece. Speaking as someone that has worked with part casting, this is one of the most poorly designed molds I've ever seen. Beyond the point, the hard plastic part is supposed to use friction to hold the tip in the stylus... it doesn't. If you push hard enough on a touch screen to try and avoid the rubber rolling over on itself, the whole tip actually pushes into the casing and you have to use a small pair of tweezers to pull it back out.
Ultimately, the whole point of that last paragraph is simply to tell you that this is one of the most poorly designed products I have ever seen. I guess there's a reason it is so cheap. My advice... spend a few extra dollars and get something a little bit better designed. This product is not worth buying.

Amzer Mirror Screen Protector with Cleaning Cloth for Motorola Droid 2 A955 Review

Amzer Mirror Screen Protector with Cleaning Cloth for Motorola Droid 2 A955
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This screen protector is easy to apply, fits my Droid 2 very nicely, and has a smooth and almost soft touch to it that makes it feel good when you're using the touch screen. Plus things look good and very clear when using the screen as a mirror. After using it for a few days, with it in my pocket, there are no bubbles or bumps in the screen, and no scratches or peeling at the edges. So It's well-made and good quality. The real downside is that due to the mirrored surface, the phone's screen gets dimmed a little bit. Since the dimming is pretty noticeable, you have to compensate by raising the brightness on your device...and that results in most Android device batteries draining much faster. Another slight annoyance is that it's a fingerprint magnet. But then again, it comes with a wiping cloth and stands up fine to wiping with a sleeve or napkin.
If battery life is an issue for you already, you should pick a clear screen (maybe an Amzer clear screen, since I am very happy with the quality and fit of this mirrored one). But if you're getting good life out of your battery, you'll probably be very happy with this slick little screen. And it's definitely perfect for spies, the paranoid always looking behind them, morse coders, and pretty people who like to check themselves out a lot. Not perfect...but overall I think I like it.

Seidio SURFACE Case for Motorola Droid 2 (Red) Review

Seidio SURFACE Case for Motorola Droid 2 (Red)

This case is well made, and looks good. Worked well for about two months. After that, the front plate started to fall off the phone every now and then. After two more weeks, it would no longer stay on the phone. It was as if it had "stretched". I was too lazy/cheap/aggravated to order another one, so now the phone is scratched. My bad!

Blossoming Spring Flower Protective Hard Rubberized Case Cover Design for Motorola Droid 2 Global Review

This case fit very well over the phone, allowing for easy use of the slider keyboard while staying protected. I have had no problem taking the back portion off to insert into the Media Dock or the Car Dock. It's unfortunate that you have to remove it to use those items, but that's a problem with Motorola, not this item. I really appreciate the rubberized feel which provides alot more protection for the phone than a standard hard plastic case.

2Pk x Crystal Clear Screen Protector for Motorola Droid 2 Global Review

If you take the time to apply it carefully, the screen protector works fantastic. This one is absolutely crystal clear, and there's literally no difference whatsoever in the touchscreen feel. Lots of people on other screen protector reviews complain about the 2nd pulltab leaving sticky residue on the screen. This happened to me, BUT you must understand that the 2nd pulltab is supposed to pull a whole 2nd layer up, so i just peeled that off manually, since the tab didn't do it. Then the screen was perfect. But yeah, great stuff, and I use screen protectors for everything. Great screen protector and cheap.

I have been using a Pogo Sketch for quite some time and I can assure you that the Targus stylus beats the Pogo and every other stylus hands down! In fact, I recently was employed by one of the largest wireless carriers in their marketing department and worked closely with the person responsible for buying all accessories that are sold in our stores. She had tested and trialed dozens of styluses a d had determined that pogo was the best available stylus at the time. Last month, I visited her and showed her the Targus stylus. Like me, she was blown away. She is now going to contact Targus for samples to put through their tests. It works great with iPhone and iPad -- and especially great with Penultimate. It is high-quality and feels great in my hand. It is as thick as a normal ballpoint pen, and the clip is made of sturdy metal (not cheap plastic like the Pogo). The tip is soft rubber, but not at all sticky like some other inferior rubber styluses). Using this on an ipad is so silky smooth and a pleasure to use. Buy this, you will not be disappointed!!

Seidio Innocase Surface Case For Motorola Droid 2 (Black) Review

Seidio Innocase Surface Case For Motorola Droid 2 (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I just recently purchased this from Seidio directly due to Christmas promo from FB and free shipping. My only concern was I bought the extended OEM battery from VZ wireless. Reading around I found other people had concerns with the larger battery and this case and the Multi Media Dock which I bought from Amazon. Well this case does fit both without removing the Innocase to dock or the extended battery. To the previous poster. You have to remove the battery door. Then this case fits perfect snaps in as it is suppose to. If your worried about using without the battery cover don't this case covers it. I get the best of both worlds. Also on the multi media dock you have to remove the insert and it fits the dock with extended battery and the case on also. Looks sharp functional. I know if I put the regular battery back in I could get the battery door back on. But since Droid phones use some battery hogs, I wanted the extended battery for mine.
I like the feel the Seidio case adds to the phone with minimum bulk if at all. Case is made of very good materials. This is my first smart phone and wanted to protect it the best way I could though I am very gentle with my phone. This is not the cheapest cover out there but in this day and age you get what you pay for. Your not going to get a BMW for the price of Chevy Cavalier. So far so good will repost if I change my mind.

Motorola DROID II Android Phone (Verizon Wireless) Review

Motorola DROID II Android Phone (Verizon Wireless)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've had a series of blackberrys for 5 years and made the leap, with serious apprehension, to this phone and will not be looking back. My husband has the HTC Android and I've played around with iPhones so my comparisons are those and my blackberry pearl and curve.
Some of the things I love:
-speed and clarity and almost unlimited amount of things it can do. I went on vacation for a week with my laptop and never took it out of the bag.
- The web surfing is almost as fast as my verizon fios on my computer while the blackberry speed was more like dial up.
-Having flash makes almost all websites accessible (except viewing videos on hulu and netflix - coming soon, I hear)
-The camera and video camera are great quality.
-I read my kindle books on it easily.
- The apps are what make it more like a computer than a phone. I can't believe how many are free and how incredible they are on the Market. Using one on vacation, called Places, I was able to find the nearest anything to where I was standing (cofffee shop, atm, restaurant, etc.. and get reviews and phone numbers all at once, then directions with the navigator - no switching between apps - it is seemless), I could locate the nearest movie theatre, see movies, times, watch trailer and order tickets all at once;
- Programming my Verizon Fios DVR when I'm away from home - apparently you can turn it into your remote too, but that's going just too far (if possible).
- Watching Youtube
- news feeds - don't have to go to websites for my breaking news - great for the news junkie
- the pullout keyboard!!! I am not fan of touchscreen typing for longer texts or emails so I needed this Droid over others or the iPhone because of the pullout keyboard. Glad I did. Althought it has swype, which is a way of typing on the touchscreen without lifting your finger, I still make a lot of typos.
- google calendar - never used it before and love how I was able to share with my husband so he can always see the family schedule on his phone too.
- google everything - wirelessly, syncs everthing to your computer - calendar, contacts and email all updated on device or computer as soon as input
- the way you can enlarge anything you are viewing by pulling your fingers apart on the screen to zoom in. Took awhile to figure out and get good at, but it is great!
- easy to read attachments - word, excel, pdfs, and powerpoints.
- mP3 player - works as well as an ipod. Will be using the Amazon MP3 store for all my music purchases now.
- came loaded with newest android operating system so no waiting for the newest one to come like the others are now.
- the 5 home screens and how you can personalize them. Keep playing with them to get it most functional.
What I don't love:
battery life - it's actally pretty good considering how much I use it for, but I have to keep an eye on it because I use it so much that it can be hard to make it through the day. With my blackberry, I was fine as long as it slept at night in its charge. Now I charge it whenever I'm near a charger - car, kitchen counter, desk...
- size - its not small and is hard to slip in my pocket. But I don't think I would want it any smaller as the screen size if fabulour and to be thinner I'd need to give up the keyboard. Can't have everything.
- getting used to it. Don't know if I could have figure it all out without my husband to teach me. I'm very computer literate and gadget savvy, but I think I would have missed a lot of what it can do without him around to walk me through the basics and set me on my way. That's it. Haven't found anything else I don't love

Swype Keyboard
An alternative to the Android virtual keyboard, the Swype virtual keyboard allows you to input text by swiping the finger with one continuous finger or stylus motion across the screen keyboard. Based on testing, speed, and accuracy are equal to or better than the traditional keyboard-tapping method. You can activate the Swype keyboard by pressing and holding in a text field, wait for popup to appear, click Input Method, and then select Swype.

In the image to the left, the word "quick" was generated from tracing the path shown above in a fraction of a second, by roughly aiming to pass through the letters of the word. A key advantage to Swype is that there is no need to be very accurate, enabling very rapid text entry.

Motorola DROID 2 Global Android Phone, Sapphire (Verizon Wireless) Review

Motorola DROID 2 Global Android Phone, Sapphire (Verizon Wireless)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
After my Droid 1 got water damaged nearly two months ago, I was in the market for a new smartphone. After thoroughly researching this phone as well as its competitors, I went with the Droid 2 Global and am very happy with it so far. Its large and vibrant touchscreen, fast processor, slide-out QWERTY keyboard, and extensive Google integration make it very convenient to use, although the phone's size/weight, and Android's steeper learning curve might make this phone less appealing to some prospective buyers.
LOOK AND FEEL
The phone is big and heavy, and you will notice that immediately when picking it up. I personally don't mind this, but think some people, especially women, might find that this phone might not fit in their pockets (since clothing for women usually are designed with smaller pockets). My girlfriend, for example, uses a smaller Android phone since she thought the Droid 2 was heavier and bulkier than she liked.
CALL QUALITY
I notice that the volume of calls is lower than that of my previous Droid, both holding the phone up to my ear as well as putting it on speaker. The phone's speaker is loud enough when I play music, but the in-call volume is noticeably quieter than I'd like. This might be inconvenient for some, but feel this is a small price to pay for an otherwise outstanding phone.
PHYSICAL KEYBOARD
The physical keyboard on this phone is pretty good. It's definitely much better than that of the original Droid since the keys are slightly elevated (whereas the original Droid had very flat keys). My one gripe with the keyboard is the new 'Alt Lock' button. While to lock Alt (to activate the secondary functions of keys, such as inserting numbers) you previously had to press Alt twice, on the Droid 2's keyboard the Alt Lock button is another way to lock Alt (although you can still press Alt twice to lock it). Only problem is that due to its location, I frequently find myself pressing it inadvertently which interferes with composing text. Now that I'm more used to my phone it's not as much of a problem as it used to be, but it still becomes annoying at times. Overall, I am pleased with the physical keyboard and frequently use it to compose texts, emails, and even documents.
There are many smartphone alternatives that are thinner than the Droid 2 because they lack a physical keyboard, but I personally am not a huge fan of touchscreen keyboards. Even with the option of using Swype, which is regarded by many to be superior than a traditional touchscreen keyboard since you can compose words without lifting your finger, I prefer the phone's physical keyboard to its touchscreen one since it allows me to type faster and more accurately.
DISPLAY
The Droid 2 has a bright, high-resolution display. This is not only great for watching videos, but for reading since text is very crisp. I use the Google Books and Kindle applications on the phone and read e-books on my commute without a problem, and also frequently play videos that look gorgeous on the screen. Since the display is so good, it draws a lot of power, and you might want to lower the brightness to save battery. Even on a dimmer setting, it still is a very bright and crisp display.
CAMERA
The Droid packs a 5 Megapixel camera, as well as video-recording at roughly DVD-quality. The camera is much faster to auto-focus and snap pictures than my Droid 1 (running Android 2.2) was. Pictures come out pretty good, especially with adequate light. The camera's images come out noisy (grainy) in low light, but that is to be expected with a cell phone camera, which employs a relatively small image sensor. While this won't replace your point and shoot, the pictures are good enough. The Droid 2's video recording is very good, both in terms of the video and the recorded audio.
BATTERY LIFE
The battery life of this phone is noticeably shorter than of my Droid 1 - which had quite a dismal battery life itself. This is largely because the phone has a powerful 1.2 GHz processor, a large high-resolution touchscreen, and features multitasking (which allows programs to run in the background). If you want improved battery life you can turn off Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and GPS when they're not in use, dim the display, and run less widgets, but even taking these energy-saving measures can only do so much. I highly recommend you buy a spare battery if you purchase this phone - the relatively cheap price you pay for a spare is worth it!
USER INTERFACE
Unlike the original Droid, the Droid 2 features MotoBlur...Motorola's custom User Interface that really makes the phone shine. It offers a very polished design and unique customization options that make the phone aesthetically pleasing. Unfortunately, a lot of options are buried within menus or sub-menus that take some probing to uncover, making this phone a little less simple to use out of the box than some might like. I recommend if you do ultimately purchase this phone, you take the time to learn its features! Once you do, you can extensively personalize it, place widgets on your homescreens, and do many other neat things.
Due to the speedy 1.2 GHz processor, the phone's performance is generally good - although programs do become unresponsive, or the phone freezes, more often than I'd like. I think this is more of a flaw with the Android OS in general, and not a flaw of this phone in particular. For the most part, I find the phone's day-to-day operation is smooth.
FLASH SUPPORT
This is highly touted as a strength of Android - and a weakness of Apple - but I don't find this to be all too important in my day-to-day use. I definitely like the option to be able to play Flash movies, but have noticed that Flash loads pretty slowly on a 3G connection (although it's decent on Wi-Fi), and that some Flash sites still won't properly load as they are not optimized for mobile devices. While I rarely play Flash videos for the aforementioned reasons, it is convenient to have the ability to play Flash if and when I do need it.
BLOATWARE
To my disappointment, this phone comes loaded with bloatware. There isn't an easy way to remove it unless you 'root' (hack) your phone and use a program like Titanium Backup. A simple Google search can provide websites with easy to follow, step-by-step directions on how to go about doing this, but you should not do this unless you understand the process since it entails the potential to mess up important system files. Most people will probably just cope with having bloatware on their system, which is annoying, but doesn't noticeably slow down performance.
COMPARED TO DROID 2 NON-GLOBAL EDITION
The Droid 2 Global has a slightly faster processor (1.2 GHz vs. 1 GHz), but the main advantage is the phone's global capabilities. If you travel internationally, having the option to use your current cell phone abroad is very convenient. While I still haven't firsthand experimented with its global capabilities, I bought this phone over the non-global edition specifically for this ability.
COMPARED TO IPHONE
When I was deciding on a phone, the Verizon iPhone's release was imminent. While a year ago that might have swayed my decision, this time it didn't, since I was already familiar with the strengths of the Android OS. Yes, there's a steeper learning curve, but it's worth it for the customization and extensive Google integration (great voice search, turn-by-turn navigation, etc). Since the iPhone is now officially available from Verizon, the decision on whether to buy an Android or iOS device is more difficult for some, especially since both operating systems have their strengths and weaknesses.
Some of the biggest reasons people might be drawn to the iPhone now that cell network isn't an issue for VZW customers is its relative ease of use and better media integration. As of the time of this review, there still isn't a media sync option as convenient as iTunes, aside perhaps for DoubleTwist. In my opinion, iTunes is a much easier way to transfer media to the phone than dragging and dropping or using iTunes alternatives, for most people at least. While I don't buy MP3s online, others have also pointed to the iTunes store offering much more selection than Amazon's MP3 store. If rumors of a cloud-based Google music alternative materialize, maybe this will become a moot point, but as of now, an iPhone might be more convenient for a lot of users.
NO SIMULTANEOUS VOICE AND DATA
This is a shortcoming of the Verizon network, not a flaw of this phone in particular. If you're not on a Wi-Fi network, and are using cell phone data, you cannot talk and surf the web at the same time (I believe AT&T recently had a commercial highlighting this flaw). While this is a shortcoming of the Verizon network and not of this phone in particular, it is worth noting that in some situations, this proves to be a major inconvenience.
FINAL THOUGHTS
I love my Droid 2 - even more than my Droid 1 - but honestly think that the steep learning curve for Android phones in general might prove to be a bit of a challenge to first-time smartphone buyers. While the Android 2.2 user interface is more polished and refined than previous versions of the OS, many options and settings are still buried deep within submenus that might be frustrating to figure out or uncover. I think the iPhone is a better alternative for smartphone 'newbies' since it is far more intuitive.
If you are willing to take the time to really explore this phone's features, you will find this phone is a very powerful device that offers a good physical keyboard, increased customization options compared to the iPhone, and extensive Google integration (i.e. turn-by-turn navigation, voice search).

In the image to the left, the word "mind" was generated from tracing the path shown above in a fraction of a second, by roughly aiming to pass through the letters of the word. A key advantage to Swype is that there is no need to be very accurate, enabling very rapid text entry.

Just got the case in the mail. It arrived on time in new conditon. Fits my Droid 2 Global perfectly. Like the rubberized casing. This design is better than any that I've seen in the stores and at a better price. I was a little concerned that there was gonna be a hole or a square cutout on the back center of the case based on the pic, but there isn't anything like that on the case that I recieved.

Seidio SURFACE Case for Motorola Droid 2/Droid 2 Global -1Pack - Retail Packaging - Amethyst Review

Seidio SURFACE Case for Motorola Droid 2/Droid 2 Global -1Pack - Retail Packaging - Amethyst
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is my second Seidio Innocase. This is about the only well built case i have found to fit a Droid 2, Droid 2 global or Droid r2d2. To use this case with an extended battery(oem extended battery from VZ) you can't put the battery cover/door on the phone. You have to leave it off. This case covers it anyhow and no one knows you do not have a cover on your battery due to this case covers the battery door. Also when you bought the phone the battery snaps in the back of the phone it doesn't flop around. This helps my droids look nice and also protects them, very well has a good feel to it. I am hooked on Seidio. Pretty much the BMW of cell cases.. Haven't had the problems others say about hitting the upper keys on the keyboard. no problems what so ever. Very happy would buy it again plus it is the only case i found where you can actually use an extended battery but only the OEM extended battery. not sure about third party batterys. ** note I am using Motorola BP7X extended battery

Seidio Ultimate Screen Guard 2 Pack Screen Protection for Motorola Droid 2/Global - Retail Packaging - Crystal Clear Review

Seidio Ultimate Screen Guard 2 Pack Screen Protection for Motorola Droid 2/Global - Retail Packaging - Crystal Clear

I bought a matted screen protector for $5 and got what I paid for. It was thick and blurry. After doing some research I picked Seidio because I didn't want to deal with the water/soap method for the other highly acclaimed protectors...and I'm glad I didn't.
This screen protector is actually crystal clear like advertised and still touch sensitive. Im so glad I bought this because now I can actually see my screen AND I put it on without the 45 minute hassle of other screen protectors!
I highly recommend this product. I also have the Seidio Innocase and I love the case/screen protector combo!

Motorola A955 Droid 2 Privacy Screen Protector ( 3 Pack ) Review

Motorola A955 Droid 2 Privacy Screen Protector ( 3 Pack )
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I own the droid 2, and as this product claims, it is "supposed" to work for that phone. I received it in the mail today and it is horrible. It does not keep privacy while texting and it makes the screen all funky looking (even with brightness all the way up). It makes it look like a computer screen does when you try and use a camera to take a picture of something on your laptop. Even though it is 4.99, this product is not worth the price.

This Stylus pen is ok, it is kind of hard to use sometimes as the rubber on the pen tip doesnt want to slide across the touch screen very easily.

I have had this phone cover for several weeks now, when I purchased it I expected something of cheap quality that I could get a short amount of use of but did not expect it to be as nice as it is since to buy others cost twice the amount. It is very nice looking and fun to use on my phone.

Motorola Droid 2 "Black Carbon Fiber" Full Body Protection by Phantom Skinz Review

Motorola Droid 2 Black Carbon Fiber Full Body Protection by Phantom Skinz
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I had high hopes for this skin, since I wanted something that looked just like carbon fiber that wouldn't be an actual snap on case and this skin definitely was worth the risk. It looks exactly like the picture once installed and really fits well. It also wasn't hard to install. Being a perfectionist, I dread installing screen protectors or skins, but this was really painless. If you want a phone that looks like carbon fiber, this is perfect!
