LCD Screen Guard Protector for Sprint HTC HERO Review

I can't even tell this screen is on my phone! It is very good quality, and my phone's touch screen has no problem working with it. The one thing I do not like is the instructions. I've applied other screen protectors before and didn't think I even needed instructions. I was always used to only ONE peel-away backing (like applying a sticker). This one has a front and a back peel-away, but are not labeled well. I ended up getting my finger print on the upper left corner and lower right corner of the protector. Those areas will not stick to the phone now and look like little bubbles. There should definitely be a picture diagram instructions, not just text.

Crystal Hard Rubberized BLACK Cover Case for HTC Hero (CDMA) Sprint w/ Black Swivel Belt Clip Review

Crystal Hard Rubberized BLACK Cover Case for HTC Hero (CDMA) Sprint w/ Black Swivel Belt Clip

The case is typical of the generic snap on cases. The back part is not what is pictured though. Like all the generics I've had in the past for other phones it has that raised squarish hole to put the removable belt clip swivel. Though this case doesn't come with that whole setup. Would be nicer if it was the clean back pictured, but that's mostly just an aesthetic issue. One nice enhancement is an angled cutout on the right side to make it easier to separate. Usually they are pretty difficult to separate as you try to wedge your fingernail inbetween the halves. This helps the process along. The cutouts are well placed and the plastic is slightly thinner than ones I've had on other phones. For $8 you can't go wrong. I don't like silicone for full screen phones as the edges either need to wraparound and have more coverage to be secure or it looks just like this case and the edges are a bit floppy and can get caught in things and just be annoying. If I were keeping the Hero (returning it when the Moment comes out), I would eventually upgrade to the Seidio Innocase or Snap case as they tend to be even thinner and have a holster to match up with it since I sometimes need it clipped to my pants.
Too long a review for a $7 product that does the trick at a good price. You might able to find it on ebay for a dollar or so cheaper. I highly doubt the brand name matters.

Otterbox Htc4-Hero1-20-C5Otr Htc Hero Commuter Case Review

Phone is near bullet proof now. Feel like I'm using a bat-phone. Great fit. Easy to apply and remove. Love the covers for USB and aux jack. Plastic/silicone combo is a good balance of grip (so it won't slide out of pockets/off dash board) but still easy to get out of my pockets without turning them inside out like some other products do. Great since I carry my phone in my pocket, and not one of those corny hip holders. Really people, who are you kidding? Are you in the wild-west of smartphone world? Trying to be quick-on-the-draw? Sorry...off soap box, back to the review...
One more upside, since i'm a guy the and have larger hands the Hero feels kind of small and makes using the touch QWERTY keyboard a bit awkward. The Otter Box adds a bit more substance to the phone making it more comfortable to use.
One draw back: I chose the black version, and the silicone tends to gather lint that shows up prominently, especially if your pocket lining is white. =/
Overall, happy with my purchase and I will probably stick with Otter Box for my next phone too. Oh yeah, and it arrived REALLY quick too!

Seidio SURFACE Case and Holster Combo for use with Sprint HTC Hero (Black) Review

Seidio SURFACE Case and Holster Combo for use with Sprint HTC Hero (Black)
Average Reviews:

Just bought a Sprint HTC Hero smart phone, and was looking for an innovative case that provides quick access, can attach to a belt, and remain secure, all while complementing the Hero's sharp styling. Saw the Seidio CaseHolster / Innocase combo with locking feature, and placed an order. I've had it for a week, and here is my short-term assessment:
PROS: Incredible fit and finish. The innocase fits the HTC Hero perfectly. Much better than some of the sloppy gel/silicone cases. Access to all appertures (charging/phones/volume/mic/etc) is great. The HTC Hero with innocase holsters with a precison fit, and the top clamp secures the phone with enough clamping tension to provide assurance that the phone will not accidently become dislodged. The belt attach clamp is of very robust manufacture, and will definetly stay hooked to your belt. It swivels at pre-determined detents to accomodate a vertical, horizontal or other angle of positioning on the belt. The whole combo (Innocase & Holster) is VERY well detailed, and works incredibly well as a fast-draw smart-phone rig.
CONS: As near to perfection as the Innocase/Holster combo comes, it does have 1 or 2 minor opportunities for refinement. 1) The locking device that is integrated into the top clamp on my holster is balky, and is hard to move into the "locked" position. It requires 2-hands to overcome resistance, and while it does work, it requires way-more activation effort than should be necessary. As stated above, unless you are planning on running an obstacle course, the holding pressure of the clamp in "un-locked" mode will sufice for 95% of anyone's needs. My locking device may have just been an exception, but it should go into lock-down mode with single-hand effort. My only other suggestion would be that the innocase might have benefitted from a few strategically-placed subtle molded-in traction ribs to provide better gripping of the case (again - the case grips well, it's just that a few ridges would make it superior). Also - since the smartphone is holstered "face-side" in, the lens of the camera is always exposed, and it occured to me that some sort of protective/hinged lens cover would give the rig a more protected (armored) capability.
SUMMARY: Even with the noted CONS (minor), this is a REALLY GREAT PRODUCT! I would recommend it to anyone. As an Industrial Design Manager, I tend to critique hard most products, but this is a very impressive product enhancement. Finally someone is developing a cutting-edge holster/case that matches the inspired designs of the various smartphone manufacturers. Well done Seidio! Highly recommend buying this product.
