(More customer reviews)Just bought a Sprint HTC Hero smart phone, and was looking for an innovative case that provides quick access, can attach to a belt, and remain secure, all while complementing the Hero's sharp styling. Saw the Seidio CaseHolster / Innocase combo with locking feature, and placed an order. I've had it for a week, and here is my short-term assessment:
PROS: Incredible fit and finish. The innocase fits the HTC Hero perfectly. Much better than some of the sloppy gel/silicone cases. Access to all appertures (charging/phones/volume/mic/etc) is great. The HTC Hero with innocase holsters with a precison fit, and the top clamp secures the phone with enough clamping tension to provide assurance that the phone will not accidently become dislodged. The belt attach clamp is of very robust manufacture, and will definetly stay hooked to your belt. It swivels at pre-determined detents to accomodate a vertical, horizontal or other angle of positioning on the belt. The whole combo (Innocase & Holster) is VERY well detailed, and works incredibly well as a fast-draw smart-phone rig.
CONS: As near to perfection as the Innocase/Holster combo comes, it does have 1 or 2 minor opportunities for refinement. 1) The locking device that is integrated into the top clamp on my holster is balky, and is hard to move into the "locked" position. It requires 2-hands to overcome resistance, and while it does work, it requires way-more activation effort than should be necessary. As stated above, unless you are planning on running an obstacle course, the holding pressure of the clamp in "un-locked" mode will sufice for 95% of anyone's needs. My locking device may have just been an exception, but it should go into lock-down mode with single-hand effort. My only other suggestion would be that the innocase might have benefitted from a few strategically-placed subtle molded-in traction ribs to provide better gripping of the case (again - the case grips well, it's just that a few ridges would make it superior). Also - since the smartphone is holstered "face-side" in, the lens of the camera is always exposed, and it occured to me that some sort of protective/hinged lens cover would give the rig a more protected (armored) capability.
SUMMARY: Even with the noted CONS (minor), this is a REALLY GREAT PRODUCT! I would recommend it to anyone. As an Industrial Design Manager, I tend to critique hard most products, but this is a very impressive product enhancement. Finally someone is developing a cutting-edge holster/case that matches the inspired designs of the various smartphone manufacturers. Well done Seidio! Highly recommend buying this product.
