(More customer reviews)My iPhone 3g was broken for about 4 months before I found this item and I am so glad I did. I had taken it to the Apple Store when I broke it and they confirmed that it was the LCD that was broken, but would be $200 to repair it.
I ordered from Zeetron and it took about a week to get to TX. The box included the screen sealed in an airtight pouch, a free screen protector and a baggy including: a Philips screwdriver, flat head screw driver, 3 different prying tools, a guitar pick and a suction cup.
After reading the reviews I wasn't sure I would get the tools or not, but I did from Zeetron. If you've got a good small eyeglass screwdriver I would recommend using it over the free plastic one, but the prying tools and suction cup came in handy.
It took me about 40 minutes to complete everything, but I was going ultra slow and taking my time watching each section of the YouTube video as I went. The 3rd wire is tricky because the video doesn't show how to lift the hinge, but it's a very small piece that lifts up and then the wire slides away from you, parallel to the length of the phone. (You'll see what I mean when you get in there.) Be sure to keep the metal backing from your broken LCD as you have to transfer it to your new LCD.
It's been about a month since I installed the new screen and it is working like a charm. I absolutely cannot tell a difference between the original and replacement screen. I have ordered many things from Amazon, but this is the first product I've really felt the need to share a review. If your iPhone screen is broken, don't waste any time. Buy this one. Highly recommended!

NOTE: This installation is TRICKY. Watch the You-Tube Videos FIRST. Also, use the suction cup method to remove the glass - do not pry it up! When it comes to separating the glass from the plastic frame, BREAK THE BROKEN GLASS from the inside out! Then try the hair dryer to melt the glue. It will save you hours. These tips will make sense once you watch the videos. Good Luck!

(More customer reviews)***I purchased my kit from zeetron, one of three amazon sellers offering this product since it's soldout.
All you need to repair your cracked glass is shipped with this order as shown in the image. I like the various tools they provide, such as the screwdrivers, suction cup, etc. The video instructions are very clear and helpful, it is totally possible to repair your own glass instead of spending a whole fortune on it. I want to say it is a breeze, although there were moments when I was really afraid I'd wreck something. This task probably feels more comfortable to the handy sort out there.
A couple warnings...
(1) If your glass is anywhere as cracked as mine, it will take some effort to remove it from the frame. Lots of heat application and patience is key. Also, please take care in handling the glass. Although I was lucky, I could easily see someone slip and cut themselves pretty deeply. A tweezer would come in handy.
(2) It is not mentioned in the video, but some parts of your iphone are taped over by a sticky black film. I suppose this is to prevent tampering. You'll have to remove it to fix the glass, but doing so voids your warranty.
(3) Before you snap the lcd back onto the new glass, be super careful about letting any dust trap between the two... otherwise you'll end up with annoying lint like I did.
(4) The screen protector they offer has this mirror finish... which I find a little irritating. I also have a hunch it desensitizes the sensor that detects whether you've got the phone held up to your ear.
(5) It took a couple tries for me to put the phone back together. The first time, my earpiece wasn't working. The second time, my LCD wouldn't turn on. Third time was a charm, I made sure everything was securely plugged in.***7/21/2010****
Guess what! I cracked my phone again, so I purchased this same kit again. I was a little cocky from fixing it the first time, so I was a little rough on the frame. So a couple more tips...
(1) There's a thin rubber lining the frame that holds the glass. It's extremely fragile and the more you pry to get the glass loose, the more likely you will be ripping off this lining. One of the many functions of the rubber is to act as a buffer to prevent dust from collecting in the phone. I noticed how dusty my phone was getting from the last time I replaced the glass on my phone.
(2) I made the huge mistake of prying and accidentally piercing my LCD while removing it from the glass/frame. Make sure you have all your screws out, and pry between the two metal pieces, not underneath the lcd... otherwise you'll regret it.
(3) A tweezer really helps in getting the tiny tab inserted firmly into the circuit board.

(More customer reviews)Replacing my broken glass was a breeze with this kit. Any debating between this and the cheaper glass-only kits should stop hesitating and put out the extra money. Your spending will be rewarded with reduced effort, pain and suffering.
After breaking the glass on my 3Gs, I was shocked at the sticker price of Apple's repair. I found a variety of kits online to replace just the glass and ordered a pricey one, understanding it came with the digitizer. I was wrong, and in forging ahead with the repair I botched it. Using hot air guns to remove the digitizer from the old glass warped the plastic and my work ripped the rubber gasket off of the frame. The replacement glass was unsatisfactory as well, and in piecing everything back together I punctured a ribbon cable which deactivated 10% of my touch screen. What a failure.
I searched some more and found this seller on Amazon as the most affordable way to get a replacement glass with the digitizer already attached. This significantly reduces the skill and effort required to replace broken glass if you have a fully functional LCD. Remove eight screws, three ribbon cables, and carefully separate your LCD from the side rails before reversing the order and reassembling. PLEASE use GOOD guides on the web as a basis for your work.
My biggest challenge was keeping dust out of the space between the digitizer and the screen. It took four attempts at seating the screen before I was dust free and satisfied, so be patient. The cloth supplied in the kit was less useful than another microfiber cloth I already use for my eyeglasses as the kit cloth added dust as it removed others.
Nonetheless I am completely satisfied with the result so far, and have a beautiful screen with a fully functional digitizer.

(More customer reviews)The replacement took me about 2.5 hours. I simply followed the instructions found on YouTube, and it made it easy as pie. The screen looks just like a new one, and was packaged well, with peel of screen protectors which made it very easy to keep from getting finger prints on the screen. I was not able to get the old screen off without destroying the very thin rubber seal which went around it. I put the new screen on without it. I put the Iphone in one of those silicon protective cases which cover that part now, and have the clear screen protectors so I am not worried about not having the black seal around it. Total cost was about $45.00 and 2.5 hours of work, which is much better than paying Apple $199.00.

Product seems of good quality and I can't argue with the results (like new!). word of note.... fine electronics (oem or aftermarket) are fragile. Take your time. Please note the rubber gasket attached to the frame that you seperate from the glass front. Don't confuse the gasket for adhesive and leave it intact as much as possible. My phone is back in business...

(More customer reviews)This replacement front glass and digitizer worked perfectly. The glass arrived well packaged and with pre-cut adhesive tape. This product does not come with instructions, but step-by-step instructions with pictures can be found [...].
It was not very difficult to install, but you need the right tools and you need to be patient. The whole process took me about an hour. The three things you will need are a phillips #00 screwdriver, an equally small flathead screwdriver, and a hairdryer.
The gentleman who gave this product a poor review is correct that this product does not come with the rubber gasket. However, no replacement glass from any company comes with that. It's actually part of the plastic frame that you will be attaching the new glass to with the adhesive tape. It can be difficult to remove the broken glass from the plastic frame, but if you use the hair dryer to loosen the adhesive on the broken glass, it should not take you very long to remove it and the rubber gasket will be just fine. I used the small screwdriver and a razor blade. Take your time.
Something else worth mentioning is that this glass comes with 5 protective films instead of just 2 (front and back). I was really impressed. You peel off a different protective film for each step of the reassembly process. That way, you don't get any dust, hair, or particles trapped in between your lcd and your glass.
This product is well made and I cannot tell the difference between it and my original one from Apple. If you can follow instructions well, this is the best and most cost effective way to fix your iphone glass.
