Black Silicon Skin Cover Case Cell Phone Protector for Apple iPhone 3G i-phone Review

I got my iPhone 3G on launch day, and I wasn't sure which kind of case to get. I decided this was the safest choice because it was the cheapest available, and if I didn't like silicone skin style cases, then I could always go with another later.
Thankfully, this case is the only one I'll need. It is very simple, but it does the job wonderfully. Many other silicone cases do the exact same thing, but for some reason cost twice as much.
This case is very simple. It slides over the iPhone and protects the back and sides, while leaving the touch screen exposed so it's still functional. All of the ports and buttons are still easily accessible. Charging with the case on works perfectly. I haven't dropped the phone, but it seems like even if I did this would provide plenty of protection. I honestly have no complaints about this product, especially for the price.
The only warning I can give is to make sure you know what kind of case you want for your iPhone 3G. Silicon skin cases don't provide a ton of protection, but they aren't very bulky. Some other cases provide more protection, but they're bulky.

elago iPhone 3G/3GS Slim Fit Case - 12 Color (Made in Korea) + Universal Dock Adapter included Review

This case fit my iPhone 3Gs perfectly. It snaps right one. It also comes with an
insert for a docking station so you do not have to remove the cover to dock it.
There are a few things about this cover that I didn't like and ultimately made me chose to
go back to using my Case Crown cover. The first thing is the cover is glossy its very susceptible to
scratching. It was slightly scratched when I removed it from the shipping package. With its slim profile and glossiness it makes the iPhone almost as difficult to hold onto as if it had no case at all. My last complaint is its very difficult to
remove. I like to remove my case each day and clean my iPhone.
Again, going back to my Case Crown which comes off very easily, although is firmly attached to the iPhone. Plus it offers better side and corner protection than the elago does.
I gave this product three stars because it is as advertised. But I would not buy it again. So far I am a fan of the Case Crown and would recommend that product over this.

elago iPhone 3G/3GS Slim Fit Case (Black) + Smudge Free Film + Univesal Dock Adapter - (Made in Korea) Review

The product is great. The case is slim fitting, covers corners nicely, has just a touch of that rubberized grip feel, and is much better quality than some of the stuff that gets sent from China.
A note about the "smudge free film" as I wasn't sure what to expect. The film is actually a somewhat thick (at least in comparison to normal screen protectors) piece of plastic. It feels substantial enough to protect against a nick in the screen if that ever happens. Here is what is not mentioned - it creates a MATTE finish to the screen - so the screen is no longer super glossy. I prefer this actually, so was not disappointed. But if you are looking to keep your screen super glossy, you will not want this smudge free film. Just order the Elago case without the screen protector.

Mirror Like Screen Protector Shield for Apple iPhone 3G Review

Its very good, and it's actually turns the front of your iPhone into a mirror. and if you apply it right you might get it to match the steel-like rim of your iPhone face, making it as a complete piece of reflection.
However, you will have to increase the screen brightness during the day, because it will be hard to see through especially if there is direct sunlight.
As a result, you will notice your battery life shrinks due to the brightness adjustment.

This skin is amazing, thin and has a great feel. You don't even notice it is on. Most other iphone owners that see this one are envious and complain about their bulky skins!!! I have dropped a couple of times and it has held on tightly and no damage to the phone or skin. A great investement!!!

Screen Protector with Lint Cleaning Cloth (3 Packs) for Apple iPhone 3GS 16GB / 32GB Review

Screen Protector with Lint Cleaning Cloth (3 Packs) for Apple iPhone 3GS 16GB / 32GB

All the other screen protectors I've bought were rigid, but these almost felt like saran wrap. The first tore when I tried to gently press bubbles out with a card and my fingernail tore the second when I was getting the phone out of my purse on the second day! The third went in the trash. Like the previous reviewer stated, the cut out is a strange shape and does not line up with the iPhone 3G speaker.

Case-Mate Screen Protector Film 3 Pack for iPhone 3G, 3GS Review

Case-Mate Screen Protector Film 3 Pack for iPhone 3G, 3GS
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have the iPhone 3G, and I purchased a package of clear protectors with the phone. The salesperson claimed to be an expert at applying these little protectors. She first washed her hands with antibacterial goo (probably to avoid the errant fingerprint), then rubbed my phone down with the enclosed microfiber square, and finally carefully applied the protector. The final result? A cover that was slightly off center and still managed to have a speck or two of something under it (they say dust is primarily made of sloughed-off skin cells--gross, no?) which created bubbles that you'll be spending 2-3 months (if you're lucky) ignoring until it's time to replace the film. How do you know when it's time to replace? Well, dirt or whatever manages to get under an edge. You keep smoothing that edge down, but slowly it works its way farther and farther into the main viewing area of the screen til the day comes that you must brave replacing the cover yourself. That day was today.
I determined to go about this like a laboratory scientist. I washed my hands to reduce oily prints. I then carefully removed the hard case, cleaning off crumbs and such as I went. I buffed my iPhone, inspecting it carefully to ensure not a speck of anything remained (and here, I must stop and say the first protector did an excellent job--no scratches, no sign that it had been there, unlike some protectors that actually wind up SCRATCHING your screen). Finally I laid out a blank of white paper after giving it a nice whoosh of breath to ensure there were no particles of sloughed-off human on it. Then the moment of truth--I followed the instructions carefully, pulling off the tab, being careful not to touch the sticky side. I started to apply the film. But what was this? My eye spotted a piece of lint approximately 5-6 mm long, something that, if left ignored, would soon become the iPhone equivalent of a pubic hair surrounded by a bubble. Determined to salvage this cover, I retrieved the needle-point tweezers and attempted to pluck said lint from cover. The result was further mashing the lint into the cover, getting very determined, and finally ending up with appearance of a serious pubic-hair-from-very-hirsute-human-with-scratch-encased-in-bubble. I gave up, thinking all was lost, and that I must return to the AT&T store for more protectors.
But alas! The case contained not 2 but 3 covers! The idea, I believe, is that the customer is going to destroy at least 2 in the process. Only on number 3 will he/she get it right (and who are we kidding--by then "right" is anything short of a giant fingerprint or eyelash on the screen) and not feel like their money has been completely wasted.
So on my second try, I once again went through the steps, being more careful to hold the protector sticky side DOWN; that way any floating pieces of lint (or sloughed-off human flesh) would hopefully be less likely to land on the surface. The result? An off center screen with a top portion that nearly half-covered the hearing piece. This would not do! I carefully peeled off the cover, replaced it, and by this time was happy that there were only 1 or 2 small specks of whatnot surrounded by bubbles. I'm hoping this lasts at least 3 months before I have to go through this again.
My advice: Good product. Buy it, but expect to get 1/3 not 3/3. And watch the movie Gattaca first. Mimic Ethan Hawke's shower scrub-down before attempting application of the screen protector. And then don't breathe through the process. The protector will be tolerable, but don't expect perfection. Even Ethan lost an eyebrow or something that blew his cover. It happens.

elago iPhone 3G/3GS Slim Fit Case - Black + Universal Dock Adapter included Review

We bought the SHIELD slim case for the iPhone and the elago slim case. We prefer the SHIELD, here is why:
Firstly, we wanted a very slim, lightweight, matte finish plastic case (not silicone) to protect our iPhones. These were the top two choices based on our research.
1. Both are very similar, so the differences are very slight, but...
2. The SHIELD wraps around the edges of the iPhone slightly more, providing better protection for the silver bezel.
3. The SHIELD has a cutout for the volume toggle switch (has protection on all 4 sides). The elago protects only 3 sides of the switch - this makes adjusting the volume slightly more difficult, but better protects the switch and prevents accidental pressing.
4. The SHIELD appears to be coated with a slightly thicker paint.
5. The elago is only painted partially on the inside (the side that you don't see), that's fine but you can see the edge of white unpainted area when looking closely. The SHIELD does not suffer from this problem.
6. The only place where I think the elago is better is the accuracy of the cutouts around the switches and connectors. The mold used to make the case I think is slightly better designed than the SHILED - this is an observation from an automotive engineer, not something that most people may care about.
IN conclusion, both are fine cases and have a nice tacky, almost rubberized feel, so it comes down to design - the SHIELD wins this comparison.
