(More customer reviews)If I could leave less than one star for this product, I would.
Pros: It's made of metal, as advertised, and there is a soft neoprene liner that adds cushion against any impact.
Cons: Design, lack of ability to use with other Droid X docks, LOSS OF SIGNAL STRENGTH!!! Slow delivery.
OK, where to begin on this complete turkey of an experience? First off, from date of purchase, till it's arrival took over 9 days. This was using the default shipping option of UPS ground. The only other option was for expedited, and would literally double the purchase price! This was for something that weighs less than 1 pound, and was sent in a box 3 times larger than the size that was necessary. It came from the state of WA to NY. Seriously? I could have driven there and back faster. Simply unacceptable in today's climate. After receiving the final product, I can't tell you how glad I am I didn't blow the extra money on expedited shipping.
Now, let's move on to the design. While my Droid X did fit snugly into the case, there was still plenty of left over room that seemed completely unnecessary. The Droid X is a very large phone to begin with, so one would think that pains would be taken to avoid adding any additional bulk. You would be wrong. The case has a ridiculously large hinge on one side, with an unnecessarily large clasp on the other. The pictures above make the case look much more svelte than it is in reality! But most importantly, of all the design flaws this unit has, it is the simple fact that you LOSE RECEPTION STRENGTH when the droid is placed inside the case! This baffled me to no end that anyone could not bother to test this when selling a case for a phone? I mean, are you frigging kidding me? After testing in several different locations of varying signal strength, I found on average, a loss of 2 bars whenever I placed the phone into the case!
And finally, to add insult to injury, you will not be able to plug the droid into the multimedia docking station, or the car mount with the Droid in this case. Which means you'll constantly be removing the case not only for phone calls, but anytime you want to use any of your other accessories.
So, in case I haven't made it perfectly clear already, the bottom line: you should avoid this case at all costs, and save your money for more worthwhile pursuits.
Hope this helps others from making the same mistake I did.
