I haven't dropped the phone and I don't plan to try, but it certainly LOOKS protective. This case is basically a hard shell with a lid. The inside of the shell is rubbery, and the phone fits quite snugly. I slotted it in and took it out a couple of times, and I had to pull from two corners to get the phone to budge. There are cutouts in the case for the volume keys, the charger, and the camera, so they can all be used without having to remove the case.
I thought the padded flip lid, with the snap on the back, was a pretty clever design and it really seems great. The front cover is lightly padded, protecting the screen, and the interior of the cover is made of a soft, non-abrasive black microfiber. The patterned cotton fabric that goes on the exterior is a little bit rough (or if not rough, just not baby smooth), so it's a nice little detail that they changed the fabric on the inside of the cover.
The pattern is just like in the picture - a lot of the iphone cases I've seen look like accessories that would fit in at a monster truck rally and I wanted something with a feminine touch - and I really like this fabric. I liked that the colors in the fabric seemed a little muted in the photos, not too bright, and they look the same to the naked eye.
If I have any negative experiences with this case I'll come back and edit the review - but for now (and hopefully for good): two thumbs up!
