(More customer reviews)I thought the idea of a bedside dock for my phone was a great idea!!! However, in its current state, this dock has its shortcomings (see below). Don't take my word for it, many "early adapters" of this dock are mentioning the same thing in various Android forums or blogs.
CONS:
1. Since the rocker for the Ringer volume is situated on the side of the phone resting in the dock, the Ringer volume is changed whenever one docks/undocks the phone or uses the phone while in its cradle. (The workaround is an Android app called "SmartVolume" which locks the volume.)
2. When undocking the phone, the phone automatically switches to the camera app or the picture gallery.
3. The downloaded and installed Samsung dock app does not display the weather as shown in the Amazon description.
4. Once the battery is completely charged, the phone not only displays a bright "battery is full" message but will also make a notification sound in the middle of the night to let you know. This message box will continue to display while on the dock and is very, very bright. (No known workaround)
5. Just an obvious note, one will ONLY be able to dock the phone if the phone does NOT have a case. Although obvious and unfortunate, it's a hassle to have to remove my phone bumper on the phone in order to use the dock. This could've been avoided with a design having an adjustable stand.
6. The only change the user can make on the free Samsung dock app is changing the display for day (lighter) or night (darker).
CONCLUSION:
It's obvious Samsung didn't actually use this product otherwise they'd know its many shortcomings. I'll ultimately hold on to this dock (although I hate it right now) just because I hope any updates to their Android dock app will fix these issues.
If you can wait----you should, since it's not worth the money with all of these problems.
