(More customer reviews)As with all things, case designs have to make compromises. If you want ultimate protection, be prepared for a tank of a case. If you want sleek looks to match the iP4, be prepared for flimsy designs. Unfortunately you can't have it all (at least at a reasonable price-point). The Incipio Silicrylic is a good compromise in my opinion.
The silicone inner linner is incredibly soft, providing adequate shock absoption while keeping the overall package thin. The polycarb outer layer provides an extra layer of impact resistance from blunt and hard objects. It probably won't save your phone from a 2+ meter drop, but occasional drops from waist or chest height should not be a problem. I'm sure the case won't come out pristine, but better the case than the phone.
So far I have tried the following cases:
* Apple Bumper- Looks great, but adds little protection.
* Griffin Reveal Etch- Great look and feel, but the sides are not snug enough to the phone.
* Speck Candyshell- Superb protection, but it bulks up the phone too much IMO and scratches WAY too easily. Incompatible with most connectors and docks.
Pros:
- Good compromise of thinness and protection
- Superb compatability with pin connectors (works with basically anything)
- Good compatability with 3rd party docks (thin enough to work with most)
- Easy access/function with all phone controls
- Good looks
- Easy to install/remove
- Perfect fitment/alignment
- No "flash haze"
- Easy in/out of pockets
Cons:
- Exposed silicone layer picks up lint occassionally, but thankfully it is easily removed
- Polycarb layer has plasticky feel to it
- Silicone material around the Home button can be a little annoying
- Could use silicone inserts on the sides for better grip
Overall, the Silicrylic case makes an excellent compromise between looks and protection while adding superb functionality.
