(More customer reviews)I've owned hard and soft cover cases for Blackberries for almost 10 years. Just switched over to the EVO 4G and opted for this case after comparing options on Amazon. I couldn't understand the logic in the holsters that put the touch screen outwards (exposed). That made no sense to me to have the most sensitive area exposed when not in use.
This case is made by Naztech and appears to be well made. It's very thin. the clip on the top seems very strong and in fact almost too strong the first couple of times I used it. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to simply push the phone in and cause the clip to lift and drop in place. After the 3rd day it seems like I can do this without putting too much pressure against the clip.
I am worried that with time the plastic clip surface may put wear marks on the top edge of my EVO where it slides before dropping down in place. For that reason I have been placing slight pressure on the clip with my finger so that it isn't just the phone that is forcing the clip up over the edge and back down to hold it in place. I'll update this review in a month or two after I see what the effect is.
Other than that potential downfall I think the holster is great. There is felt on the inside and the outside feels like a refined plastic. The description says "Soft-touch 'rubberized' texture provides a distinct feel and extra grip" but I wouldn't call it a 'rubberized' feel. It's more like a plastic that isn't as slippery to the touch. I didn't want a 'rubberized' feel but I'm very happy with this finish. It's just a plastic with a kind of light "felt" feel.
The case trim is recessed so that it doesn't cover the audio, power button, mic, hdmi, front camera, or usb power plug. I've found that it's pretty natural to disengage the clip by putting my forefinger under the clip and thumb against the top edge of the phone and simple squeeze while lifting the clip up slightly. The bottom of the phone pivots on the bottom of the case and then I can slide my hand down to the phone to secure it. I do get a little nervous that I don't have a solid grip on the phone until after its out of the clip however.
I'm giving this 4 stars only because it's a little awkward to release the phone and the metal spring in the clip seems a bit aggressively strong. I would have given it probably 4 1/2 stars if possible.
