Samsung has some very good phones. The Eternity II is not one of them.
The phone has several nice features, nice touch and feel, fairly good interface and a nice display.
The call quality when you have a very strong signal is fine. If you are in a fringe area forget it. I was at a ski resort and could hear fine but the people I called were getting garbled returns from me. I switched to my Samsung 777 and had no problems at all. Perhaps simple is better.
Then there is the consistency. Twice the phone has just decided to stop being a phone. No beeps or display info - just doesn't receive or allow calls to be made. You have to reboot for it to work again. And the battery life.... Some days it will run 2-3 days fine. Other times when fully charged and set on a table it will be dead - DEAD in 6-7 hours. No rhyme or reason. I'd say there might be a hardware glitch but I think it is most likely a software/firmware snafu that Samsung is not willing to fix.
IF Samsung was an upstanding company this phone would be recalled and replaced - but I'm not holding my breath.
I see that AT&T has dropped it from their product line. I recommend Amazon do the same pronto.
05/20/11 Update - I may have found an answer to the battery life issue. Simply use the charger - car or home - for an LG Xenon. When I use my wife's LG charger I get 3 days of battery life. With the Samsung chargers - USB or home - I'm lucky to get 12 hours. It appears Samsung may have shot themselves in the foot with a cheap charger!!
