(More customer reviews)First of all, the big drawback of living in the non-iPod world is one doesn't have the wide range of accessories to choose from..even more so for the Cowon D2. I had a silicone skin which worked fine (yeah, it gets a little dusty) except that I kept worrying about throwing it in the wrong compartment of my bag and something scratching the screen (although I do keep a screen protector on it).
So I finally decided to go with the full case. I googled this one before buying and couldn't find any reviews, so took a chance and here's mine.
Pros:
- It has an integrated belt clip which was a must have for my needs. Hopefully it will hold up.
- It fits nicely and all of the buttons/ports are accessible without opening the case.
- Love the removable carabiner ring. I keep it hooked on the outside of my bag and when I want to use the player, I just hook the player to it. Instead of the carabiner ring, you could also attach a lanyard to the loop if that is your preference.
- Just enough padding/protection without adding a lot of bulk.
Cons:
- The SD card slots are on the outside. I would give up having 2 slots for one on the inside like some other cases have (perhaps its external to protect the screen, but I don't see anyone saying its an issue with the other cases.)
- I do wish there was a way to keep the cover out of the way when watching videos (as opposed to holding it up the entire time).
- Along the same lines, the flap can't be bent back and used as a stand like I've seen on some cases (I never stood the unit up while watching but it is a feature of the stylus that goes away with the case).
- The stylus slot is covered (not an issue for me as I don't use it).
Wishlist:
- I wish there was an all leather version. Time will tell how the plastic vinyl exterior will hold up.
Other Note:
- I still use a screen protector as its exposed when the case is open.
- Pricey for what it is, but so are all cases for the D2
I thought about returning it...its nice enough but if I am going to spend more than $25 on a case, I want it to be just right. However, I went back to searching the net and its the only one I found with the loop for a carabiner ring (which I like a lot and will use). So until the "perfect" case comes up, I will be keeping this one.
**UPDATE**
Now that I've used this case for a longer period of time, I find that it is extremely practical and would say the cons are really more wishful thinking. Given its priced lower than some of the other well designed cases, I'd bump this to four stars and highly recommend it.
